This is the third time I did this trip with Dive Maui and never been disappointed in amount of turtles you encounter. Joe was our dive master and he is awesome. He provided us with a comprehensive pre-dive briefing. He was friendly and professional. I highly diving with him when you are in Maui

Overview

Ideal for travelers interested in shark and turtle encounters, this experience takes certified divers to explore a condemned pier that has transformed underwater into a vibrant reef. Follow your instructor through the pier wreckage to find sea turtles and reef sharks making a home there. In addition to turtles and sharks, the sunken pier is home to large schools of fish, octopus, eels, nudibranchs, and the elusive frogfish.

We meet at our shop which is located in Lahaina close to Baby Beach. There is parking for guests in our front lot and free overflow parking on Front Street. All shore divers must have their own transportation as we may have to drive to an alternate site if the conditions at Mala are not favorable.

Amazing experience!! We went with Abbi and she was so helpful and wanted to show us every cool thing on the dive. We saw 5 white tip reefs, a gazillion turtles (and their cleaning station), a porcupine puffer fish, moray eels and so many other fish! Highly recommend this dive!!!

Awesome dive experience with a word of caution…

I did a two tank dive with Dive Maui and they were great. I chose to rent their equipment versus bring my own gear and their equipment was very good quality, nice wetsuits and good BCD’s and reg sets. I did bring my own mask and would remind people to bring their own torch. We had Abby as our Divemaster and she was excellent. She really let us know what to expect insofar as entry and exit of the dives as well as the marine life we would expect to see. On the dive we saw tons of mantas up close as well as lots of turtles. One turtle I saw had to be 6 feet by 3 feet, it was huge. One word of caution, both dives we did were land entries (not from a boat). One of the dives we had to walk with our gear on over rocks to get to the beach so you have to be physically able to do this. It may be worth asking about this if you feel that this could pose a challenge / risk for you. The second dive we walked into the beach from a parking lot. Also, you would benefit from having your own transportation as for one of the dives we had to drive to a different location.

I'm usually wary of shore dives, but did this one because I didn't have time to do a full day boat trip and it was awesome. Matt was a great instructor, gear was modern and comfortable, and the place we did the dive had plentiful and varied life. I'd never seen so many turtles and will never forget it. Thanks Matt and Dive Maui, and strongly recommend!

An exceptional dive with our guide Abbey. Turtles, turtles and more turtles! White tip reef sharks, white mouth eel, octopus and a pair of free-swimming Frogfish followed by a single free-swimming Frogfish just a few meters later! Will be taking this same dive again in two days!

Great experience! We got to see at least 45 turtles and 5 sharks! our Dive Master Joe did a great job from the moment he greeted us, and he paid special attention to my 10 years old son and helped him with his buoyancy during the dive

Joe was an amazing dive master. It had been a little over 7 months since my last dive. He ran me through a refresher brief on the signals to use, advised of what to expect and then we got after it. 10/10 recommend taking this tour. Do not take it if you hate fun and a top-notch dive master.

Our experience was incredible with seeing over 50 sea turtles, 2 sharks, eel, schools of fish and the vibrant reef. Our guide Joe was awesome. We will be doing this when we return and requesting Joe, you should too.
