The entire experience, from the drive up the volcano to the entire bike trip was incredible. It's basically two activities in one trip. You start with the sunrise on top of the volcano and then ride bikes down the entire way back with awesome guides. If you're getting scared away by the early roll call, don't let that stop you -- it's a fantastic trip.

I’m finishing this review at the end of our trip, which included a snorkel trip to Lanai, surf lessons, and parasailing as well. We thought our teens wouldn’t enjoy the up early for sunrise, but they agree this was their top excursion. Highly recommend! The tour guides set you up for safety, success, and some really fun photo stops too! Would repeat this tour.

We had an excellent experience! After seeing a beautiful sunrise, we were guided down the volcano by Drew and Anthony. The bikes and helmets were in great condition and easy to ride. Drew provided tips along on the way to prepare you for the road conditions upcoming and Anthony drove the trail vehicle which allowed us to bike confidently knowing another vehicle wasn’t coming up behind us. Drew was fun and informational and Anthony kept a careful watchful eye on the group. I highly recommend doing the guided ride especially for someone like myself who was a little anxious at the start.

The bus driver had zero knowledge of the island and was a very poor communicator. This is not a bike ride down Haleakala, you barely get on a bike at all, as soon as you get on you are getting off again and back on the bus. The description needs to be a lot more clear, if you are looking for a bike ride this isn’t it, if you are looking to spend a fortune for a bus to drive you up to see a sunrise then this is for you.

Best day start to finish! This crew is wonderful, funny and super knowledgable! From our bus ride with Dan up to the top to cruising down the volcano with Drew and Steve it was an adrenaline rush and a day I’ll never forget. Tip: Just be sure to get right to a Viewing point asap at top of volcano as you are sharing space with tons of people who bus or drive up there.

Fun beautiful sunrise tour

Really cool experience. Wear sweats, bring gloves and hat. Play with your phone to know what to do in low light if you want to photo/film the sunrise. Guides are fun - both in the van on the way up and on the bike ride down. We felt safe on the guided trip down with a lead guide and a van following behind. Bring money for breakfast at the bottom.

Great guided bike tour

The 2am alarm is well worth the sunrise at the top of Haleakala. The driver, Dave, was funny and told great stories. He got us there in one piece! Then we took the bus to the bike site and had a quick safety session, gig our bikes, and headed down the rest of the volcano. Riding down was so amazing. We were not rushed. Our guide, Dru, was also knowledgeable, funny, and very patient. I highly recommend this tour!

Guides were awesome. Biking was safe and amazing. Schedule was perfect. Wind and low temps at top of mountain were rougher and colder than expected. Bring at least three layers and gloves!

First and foremost dress in layers! It’s colder than expected. Second this was a well run adventure. Russel was our bike guide and he was excellent. My daughter was a bit anxious and he did a great job teaching and making her a better bicyclist. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Great pictures and memories.

Great experience overall. The sunrise was a bust (a very cloudy day) so that part was extremely disappointing but out of their control. The bike ride was magnificent! Dru was an awesome guide. Highly recommended!!

For the Canadians:If you are ready to heat sarcastic remarks about Canadians from your bike guide Go ahead!Not me!Tour guide saying you are the 51 st state , when I said definitely not his answer was:oh you re one of them!And went on with very negative remarks about Prime Minister Trudeau and enem the new one Carney! It is not like you have a president that you can be proud of! Remarks like this in a guided tour are totally inappropriate! So unfortunately it is a nice tour but I will not recommend it to Canadians!

Dan and Drew were great - lots of fun and information shared about HI. I wasn’t sure if we needed the guided tour but after fact I was glad I chose it. With guided you have someone leading and a vehicle behind the group so that most of time you can be in whole lane - you go down fast!! So having a guide with the breaks he provides built my confidence! Again the biking was fast! Loved it!! But like the safety the guide brought!

Dress warm for the top - hoodie, sweatshirt, windpants. You don't ride all the way down. They are very concerned about safety and want to make sure everyone is comfortable. Russ was a great leader and made it enjoyable and safe.

This was the highlight of our trip! I know it's super early in the morning, but the day is well worth it. Our guide was fantastic and made sure we were safe. The views are spectacular and the ride is very easy. There were only a few places where I even had to pedal! Highly recommend.

A Thrilling Experience

The tour was exactly as advertised. The most disappointing part of this excursion was the rain and heavy clouds at the summit of the volcano. No fault of the tour operator however, which kept it to a 4-star. We did not see a thing on top and got soaked with the rain. So glad the tour provided rain gear, but you will need heavy sweatshirts under that gear. One comment to note was that it was indeed raining at the tour pick-up point but the driver assured us not to worry as we'd be above the clouds to see the sunrise. NOT the case....!! Anyway, we did not let that detract from the trip down on bikes. A thrilling experience. It was apparent that this group placed safety as paramount. That was reassuring. Our guide, Drew Anderson, down who rode down with us was TERRIFIC. Again, safety paramount and stressed at every stop. We stopped frequently along the way to take in the views, take photos and listen to Drew tell stories about the history, culture, fun facts, etc. He was quite a joy. Stopping for breakfast in the little quaint town of Makawao for a light breakfast and break. Bikes were in great working condition, they had plenty to fit each person to a specific bike size, offered backpacks for any gear you wanted to bring with you. We were also followed buy the bus which took us to the summit to help manage traffic behind us and for any needed emergencies (which was not the case for us). Again, hats off to Drew for showing us such a great time and checking off a must do in Maui. We now look to the future for our next trip to Maui to see the sunrise in our personal vehicle.

Do not miss this life experience - it is worth it!

This was an amazing, not to miss experience. Two excellent events combined into one!! The staff was fantastic across the board and took very good care of us. The sunrise was amazing. The park ranger comes out and leads ceremony. If I were doing it again (or for the next time), there are only two things I would do differently, and they both were to better enjoy the experience at the peak: 1) bring one more layer; and 2) bring a hat and gloves. I might also bring a more hearty snack for afterwards, and before the bike ride. Drew led our guided bike ride down the volcano. He was great, both educating and entertaining us. The van follows you for the ride and there are a perfect number of stops for getting pictures, water (bring your own) and ditching clothes from layering as the elevation goes down and the sun comes up. A true life experience and great memory to cap your Maui adventure.

This was my favorite experience of our trip. Biking down a volcano was a great experience and Haleakala was beautiful. Would recommend packing some snacks, stopped for a brief breakfast time but did not feel like we had adequate time to eat. Other than that it was great.
