Lots of walking. Lots of food but heavy on pork. Hardly any seafood. Wines were 2 whites & a sangria. No reds. Lots of local historical info.

Excellent food tour with Rafael as my guide. I got his full attention as I was the only one on the tour and in that I was a bit disappointed as I was unable to share the experience with others. Rafael showed what he thought were the best venues to get the most authentic foods during my visit. Excellent tour!

We asked for an English speaking guide, and although Jafael was charming, he couldn’t speak much English so we really couldn’t talk about the culture or the origins of the food or the history of Lisbon. The choice of locations seemed disorganized. He changed his mind several times about where he was taking us. We didn’t understand the confusion because we thought food tour guides booked so that we could get in and out easily. At least the past few tours we’ve been on the restaurant had already reserved a table for us and were expecting us. It was quite expensive for the tour and we can only compare it to a different tour in Madrid. Our guy there was very organized and even had photos to show us of the history of the area and cost less money and it had more value in terms of the food served. The Madrid experience was organized, informative, and had better and more food.

A real WALKING food tour.

The food is great, but be prepared to do a LOT of walking. I’m sure this could be avoided if specified ahead of time, but we covered 6.5 miles and we were very tired at the end. Rafael was an amazing guide- he turned a normal food tour into a trek through the entire city. We got to see a lot of things we otherwise never would have, and were grateful for that! With that said, we’re tired!

I’m having a difficult time writing this review. Our tour guide was a fountain of knowledge on Lisbon and Portugal and he deserves a 5 star rating for that BUT this was a food tour and I rate it a 1 star (0 if I could). Our tour started well with two delicious tapas and a glass of wine, but I felt even that was lacking as there was no explanation of the “best or recommended” wine to drink with the cod or pork dish. We were told our next stop was for pulled pork but the restaurant was closed so he bought us a pork bun from a street stall. The bun was good but we had to buy our own drinks. The final savory dish was a traditional cod dish with noodles. Although the sangria we got was tasty it wasn’t what I would expect with the cod. Our final food was a pasties de Belem (very good). Overall though, given that this was a food tour we were not very happy with it

I try to go on food tours whenever I travel and this is one of the better ones I’ve experienced. We went to 4 food stops and stopped along the way to see a few other sights. The guide Gulia was knowledgeable and had kept a good flow. I was also able to buy some local art at a very reasonable price!

My wife and I met our guide, Julia and the one other guest on-time. Julia provided interesting insights into Lisbon and the various foods and drinks we throughout the tour. She showed us at least 6 spots that we never would have found on our own. A very nice Easter Sunday afternoon.

Great concept - use any other operator

Avoid this company. We were really excited for our first day in Lisbon and learning the city through this tour… we were confirmed for the tour as of 11:30am but unfortunately the operator then cancelled 45 minutes before our scheduled meeting time. We chose this operator over a few other options, but by the time they cancelled it was too late for us to rebook, so we wasted our first day in Portugal. Further, it has now been 5 business days and no refund has been offered and I am dealing with credit card disputes for fraudulent charges for services not rendered.

This was a very enjoyable food tour. We got to enjoy several different fish and meat dishes as well as a traditional dessert! The only problem I had was when the tour was over, we were not back in the same area we started and had difficulty trying to figure out how to get back to the area where we started.

A Delectable Way to Spend a Day in Lisbon

We booked this tour as a last minute addition to our quick day in Lisbon. Jenny (our tour guide) was amazing and really brought the city to life! It ended up being a private tour, so she catered it to our needs perfectly. The food was excellent and we left very full. It was a nice mix of delicious dishes. Because the city has a lot of hills, there was quite a bit of walking, but we took plenty of breaks along the way. Overall, this was a wonderful experience that I would definitely recommend!!

Our guide was great! Her English was very easy to understand. Our group was only 4 people so she was able to answer all of our questions and really give us a lot of information about Lisbon, the food, the history and the city. We got plenty to eat at each stop with a nice variety of typical Portuguese foods. Each stop was a small, local cafe where the food was prepared fresh at the time we arrived. We had a choice of wine, beer or water at each location as well. I believe there were 4 stops all together spread throughout the historic part of the city. We were able to eat outside and enjoy the beautiful weather at most locations. There was a lot of walking, which was great as it gave us time between courses to digest food and work up some more appetite. We had hot and cold dishes, fish, pork and egg dishes as well as some vegetables and cheese and a wonderful dessert. Our guide was able to give us some wonderful information about the city and some of the locations we passed by as well as suggestions for us to check out, watch a sunset, etc. It was a wonderful way to spend 4 hours and see so much of Lisbon.

A great day out and fantastic way to see historic Lisbon whilst enjoying local cuisine and drinks. Our host Gulianna was brilliant. Food was fantastic but be prepared for the walk as Lisbon has lots of hills. We would definitely do this again as it’s a great way to see the city, culminating in the viewing platform from my photos

Our guide was super nice. But I’m allergic to fish and mushrooms. This was a note in the reservation. We always do food tours. This was the worst. She had just been working 2 weeks for the tour company and knew absolutely nothing about Lisbon. We knew more from our trip before 4 years prior. Out of about 10 tastes 7 were seafood with no substitutes for me. We told her don’t buy the pastry because we knew we didn’t like. She still bought it even though we wanted something else. At one place there were 4 full servings of seafood and some beans for me. We told her repeatedly not to get seafood and she still did. I asked for a beer numerous times and said I will pay. Nothing. I wanted a special coffee that I had to pay for even though we didn’t get all our pastries and it was wrong and she made no effort to fix. Just a horrible food and no history tour. AVOID IT!

We saw the note in your reservation regarding your allergies, and it was stated that only 1 person had allergies. Our food tour includes fish, seafood and meat varieties, and, according to our previous customers, there is plenty of choice for everyone, and we are sad to hear that you felt it was not enough. It was not the first time that our guests have allergies or do not eat certain dishes, and we always make sure everyone has enough and that all dishes are aligned with their diet. We understand how important it is to respect our customers' needs, and we sincerely apologize if you felt that we failed to do so on this occasion. When it comes to the pastry, as you can understand, the guide needs to follow the menu and order accordingly, and can only make changes if the customer has allergies or diet restrictions, which was done and it did not concern the famous Portuguese pastry in question. We are very sorry to hear you do not like this pastry, and in this case, since this was previously said to the guide, the guide in question should have found a solution, and please know that this matter will be addressed with the guide. However, in case you wanted to get more pastries than our Food Tour includes, this is of course allowed, but at your own cost. From your review it is clear that you wanted to have more pastries since the word pastry is used in plural. And as we previously explained, this is allowed but at your own cost of course. The same applies to drinks. If a drink a customer would like to have is not included in our tour, the customer can of course order it, but needs to pay for it on their own. This information can be found in Inclusions/Exclusions section. We assure you that no guide of ours would ever forbid our guests to order something on their own as well. Considering our guide, yes, the guide in question joined our company only recently, but has until that moment only been praised by our customers and has shown a lot of knowledge about the city and food. This guide finished the training succesfully and is Portuguese. We appreciate your feedback and would like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Brilliant Tour

My husband and I really enjoyed the tour- it was well put together and well organised. We tasted a wide variety of Portuguese dishes that we wouldn't have known if it wasn't because of the tour and from that, we've learnt about the culture too and experienced and seen a bit of the city. Our guide, Federico, was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful and very patient as we had our 6month old daughter with us and we were able to do do the tour on our pace which was handy when we had to deal with baby duties! I think this should be one of the things or experiences you should do if you love food and want to learn more about Portugal! And if you have a baby like us, use a baby carrier instead of a stroller to navigate places!

Do This Amazing Food Tour

Federico was our tour guide, in fact this tour was his brainchild. Explore the culture through cuisine and that's what we wanted to do. Federico delivered much more than what we expected. He took us on a journey off the beaten path, to dine at restaurants that we wouldn't have normally explored. He was kind to ask us what we would like to try, but we let him do the ordering as he knew what was special in each restaurant and he was very excited to introduce these specialities to us. Quite knowledgable and engaging and we had so much fun going on this awesome adventure with Federico. Bring an empty stomach and a spirit for adventure and enjoy the delicious food! Also be prepared for a bit of walking and uphill climbs.
