Terrible timing.

Timing was terrible. At one stage I waited at a three route plus stop for 50 minutes before a bus arrived. Also one bus left before the time I was given. The yellow bus company seemed to have faster times between buses.

Not a great experience

I wish I had read the reviews that others had left. My wife and I normally like hop on hop off tours. This one was disappointing. There was too much music and not enough narrative. Oh well.

Better tour companies

I'll start with a positive: Loads of different lines to choose from. It's difficult to get all done in 2 days unless you are keen on missing a line out. Cons: - I felt the audio didn't line up with the tour and not all stops were announced meaning you missed audio or missed a stop because it potentially was announced after you took off again. I've never had this issue with City Sightseeing. - Drivers enjoyed breaking late. On many occasions we had to hold on to prevent being thrown forward. On one occasion, the driver stopped suddenly where due care and attention wasn't being taken and a pedestrian was nearly knocked down at a pedestrian crossing. The driver had to talk to the pedestrian out the window to ensure they were ok. - Finally the walking tour QR code wasn't working. I emailed to receive the correct link, however I received no response.

The bus transfer from ship to first stop on red route took 45 minutes making the whole red loop take 3 hours. This was unacceptably boring with no commentary and the route was very repetitive. The boat trip was very good however.

I purchased the tickets a few weeks before we traveled to Lisbon. When we got.on the Hop On Hop Off bus the tickets didn't work. We had to go to the main office and it took them about 20 minutes to issue the tickets because their readers wouldn't accept the tickets either. My advice is to buy the tickets once you are in Lisbon from the Grayline directly.

We usually do a hop on hop off in every city we visit but we regret it in Lisbon. The streets are small in Lisbon and you really don’t get to see all that much on the bus. We struggled to find seats where the audio worked. I wish I had just spent the extra money and taken a tuk tuk tour instead.

Plenty of options to see. Just need to logistically plan your itinerary accordingly. It's a good option if you want to save money. Just be mindful that the Hop On and Hop off can be chaotic and crowded.

Online all hassle

We booked online which is actually pointless as you have to redeem a voucher. Contrary to what you think it added 30 mins wait which given the heat and no shade is ridiculuous! We showed our mobile ph ticket to lady on bus and got told go to kiosk they could not scan a mobile ticket. A long line in sunshine awaited so missed the bus and had to wait 20 mins for next one. . No shade at terminus and guides have limited purpose. Eventually got on a bus nearly one hour later than planned. No earphones handed out. Came out of attraction afterwards and waited for bus citytours more frequent. Would not use grayline again

Hop On Hop Off Lisbon Sightseeing

Far too many routes with nothing of real substance in terms of landmarks. Pre-recorded narrative did not specify location of landmarks - to your left, to your right, etc. Narrative was not in sync - it was either behind or ahead of landmark. There was a lot of duplication between the 4 main routes. Stops are very far apart and it’s not easy to switch from one route to another.

Get all the info on the tours first. The boat tour was one way which was ok. The orange line tour you get kicked off the bus and gave to wait about 1 1/2 hours to catch a bus back and the yellow line is a duplicate basically if the orange line, not a lot of help from some drivers , others were really helpful

Read Carefully when booking

Read carefully when purchasing package. There are multiple options. Found ourselves trying to board bus with "Hop on Hop off Boat only". The vendor devices cannot read the barcode on the Viator boarding pass. Creates all kinds of problems when boarding. Best to go to the Praça Marquês de Pombal, Lisboa, Portugal which is Central Stop 1 of all routes and check in. There are two companies using red busses and same stops This is Gray Line. You'll need the Gray Line App which isn't clear in the Viator instructions. Take a jacket for the boats.

Misleading and Poor Service

The bus never picked us up — we waited over an hour. When we finally got on, they refused our voucher. At the office, they still wouldn’t honor it and tried to charge us $30 more per person. Total misrepresentation. Not recommended.

A big confusion as there are 3 different hop on hop off buses so not sure which one we had booked. It was a red one but there are 2 red ones operated by different companies. That made it interesting when waiting at a stop

Getting loose in Lisbon

Five routes which is more than most cities. The Green (castle ) route is the pick of the bunch. Also Cascais is worth it too. Some of the staff aren’t that helpful ,kind of depends on who you get and the buses sometime dont arrive as advertised. Phenomenal bus driving from the drivers though. As per some headphone jacks didn’t work.

Purchased tickets day of tour, but was not allowed to get on the bus after ticket would not scan, therefore this experience did not happen. BTW, we were on the right bus at the right time and at the right place.

I have booked with Viator several times in the past and I have never had any issues. However this time was a disaster from start to finish. I booked a Hop on hop off in Lisbon (along with 4 other friends) after getting off our cruise ship. 1) No one outside the terminal to help/guide us. 2) We stood outside the terminal at the designated area for about an hour and in the end tarted to walk. 3) after walking and sightseeing on the way (even though we had paid for the bus) we found another bus stop and waited about 45 minutes before a bus came. When we got on and the driver scanned out voucher it came up as invalid. But she told us to get on and she would take u o a person who could fix it. By the time we got to that place we have now wasted another 1/2 hour. Finally got the ticket situation sorted out and then waited or the bus line we wanted. 4) We waited more than an hour for that bus to arrive and there was a big line up by then but not enough seats on the bus for everyone. 5) The commentary when using the headphones was not synced so by the time you heard the commentary you were already past the place and they even forgot to announce the stop numbers when they stopped. 6) Started to drive and were intending to do the entire line with a couple of stops but the buses were taking so lone to come that we realized that if we proceeded we would not make it back to the ship on time. So in reality, other than waiting and a bus ride to fix our voucher issue we did not even get a chance to use the service we paid for. This is totally unacceptable and you can be sure that I will never book with Gray Line (cityrama) / Lisbon Site Seeing again.

To make it even more fantastic, clearer audio would be a real game-changer, making it easier to hear all the info. Boat Ride included? Really? Bus ok but the boat was a joke!

My experience? The bus was a little below the standards I have had in other cities. The audio facilities worked sometimes or only on channel was working. My biggest disappointment was the "BOAT RIDE" !! Boat ride is all it was. Not a tour as we were told when we boarded the boat. NO audio connections!! NO guide giving us any history or information about the city or location. NOTHING!!! My traveling party was VERY disappointed in this because of my past experiences. They were looking forward to this excursion. When we got off the BOAT RIDE we all were stunned as to the lack of "TOUR". I would NEVER us this company again. I will recommend Viator distance themselves from Lisboat as soon as possible. If we wanted a ride with no guide we could have rented a boat by the hour. So disappointed in this tour. Not what I would expect from a Viator product.

Disappointing

We did the Lisbon Sightseeing trip on the Gray Line bus. We did two of the theee routes they offered. Red route was good and plenty to see. The Blue route was long and frankly boring travelling through some pretty run down areas. My main issue was the content of the audio. You could hear it fine but there was very little information and very sporadic. There were long periods of no information and when it did come it pointed out sights that were not always visible. We also passed a number of interesting buildings and churches but no mention of them on the audio. Generally disappointing.

Lisbon bus and boat tours

The city trip was great, it allowed us to see the entire city of Lisbon, and the boat trip passing through the historic ports and the 25 de Abril bridge and Rey Cristo was the best experience. We were able to ride the famous tuktuk from the port back to our hotel with the driver so friendly. This tour is like the best peek to the spirit of the City of Lisbon.

It is not good, because we have a problem with a manager who check a ticket and we lost 2 bus I do not like it

Paid £59 for 2 tickets. Got the red line on first day and got off at Belém. Buses were meant to be every 25 mins but we waited 75 mins for a bus back. Next day got the green line. Again, got off the bus to look around. Tried to get a bus back but first 2 were full which was fair enough. Third bus had seats but bus driver did. It want to stop. We ended up having to walk and find a metro station. Absolute waste of money. We have used the hop on hop off buses in other cities and never had any issues.

Disappointing a Somewhat Frightening

The drivers on the buses don’t seem friendly and they literally drove around Lisbon at breakneck speeds not allowing for proper viewing or photos. The stops weren’t always announced leaving one to wonder where we were. The boat ride however, was delightful. A full 2 hours - no commentary at all however but being on the water was very nice.

Did have difficulty hearing the commentary on the earbuds. May have been just mine. Also hard to differentiate between buses as they look exactly the same but run by different companies. Otherwise, it was a good way to tour Lisbon.
