Disappointing walk with no local history or gems

Let me preface this review by stating I’m usually a 4 or 5 star reviewer. Our tour guide was Paul. Paul was a nice guy, but that’s where it stopped. Paul was not Portuguese, he was from Nigeria. He had very little local knowledge, knew no hidden gems and spoke very bad english with a very difficult to understand accent. He took us to very very touristy places that we had mostly already visited alone. We had to inform him that the famous Lisbon earthquake and tsunami happened in 1755, and that a fish name translated to cod. We expected a tour guide with knowledge of the history and culture of both Lisbon and Portugal, that is not what we got. We were very very disappointed since we had read such good reviews of this company tour. Perhaps if we had been given a different guide it would have been excellent. Ours wasn’t

We communicated via email with our guide the day before. We waited at the pre-determined meeting spot for 45 minutes and he never showed up. It was our first day in Lisbon and we were waiting with our two children. Made our first day more stressful than it should have been. Luckily, we grabbed a random Tuk Tuk and turned the day around with an awesome tour.
