We weren't told there was a 30 minute walk - wore unsuitable shoes, 2 had to drop out due to bad knees. Fad9 was in Alfama where our hotel was but we weren't told this and had to go quite a long way to the meeting point, only to walk back to Alfama. The food (cheese, ham, chorizo) on arrival was already out on the table (for how long before us?) and the bread stale. Wine was awful. The guide was lovely and it was not her fault but for over £60 it was very disappointing indeed, a birthday surprise for my friend gone wrong. You can buy a ticket for 29 euros at a venue near the cathedral

This tour is designed as a cultural walking experience ending with Fado and local appetizers. While a walk is expected, we understand the distance may have been too much for some — we’re already working on improving the meeting point location.
We also offered an extra drink not included in the original price, as a courtesy.

You should skip this tour. Viator has so many better tours. This tour was terrible. The music was fine but the restaurant was bad. They offered 3 appetizers without any water. We had to order wine & mineral water. We then had to pay in addition to the $78.00 for 2. Also had to pay for the bread that we ate. No one ever mentioned that we will have to pay extra for the drinks & bread. The place was terrible. Back-less benches, the bathroom door did not locked someone had to guard the door. Finally they did not accept credit cards, nor U. S. dollars. Only Euros. When I suggested to the man they put a sign saying Cash Only he replied “My country my rules”. Quite an a..hole. No one from Viator warned us about paying for our drinks & bread or that they accept no credit cards. VIATOR SHOULD REFUND OUR MONEY FOR SUCH A BAD TOUR. If you are thinking about taking this tour…. Do not do it. You will regret it like we do.

Thank you for your honest feedback.
We understand that might be your expectations were quite too high, but this experience is about feeling and experiencing the real Portuguese tradition. The Original Portuguese Fado houses are usually all small, with backless benches, with ancient embiance to give the same vibe of how it was back in 19th century.
Plus these fado houses usually doesnt not accept credit cards, and mostly every travellers carry cash of the country they are visiting to.
As you mentioned you only had US dollars in hand and credit card, which was an unusual thing, in Europe there are many places where cards or foreign currencies are not accepted.
Moreover, in the description of the tour , it is clearly mentioned that we will provide the 2 hour of Portuguese Fado live show with Portuguese appetizers. There is nowhere mentioned that the drinks are included.
We also found out that you ordered additional breads twice, so we didn´t charge for the first time, but second time was charged by the restaurant.
And lastly we apologize for the bathroom door, that also when asked with the restaurant, it was just broken a few minutes before our tour. So it was a sudden mishap, which was not controllable at that point of time, but we still apologize you for that.
We always try our best to provide the best experience and quality time to the guest, and once again we thank you for your sincere feedback.

Not worth the money. Performance is set in a restaurant that served poor quality tapas with rude staff. Seating is uncomfortable with obstructed views of the performance.
Guide provided minimal information about fado.
The singers and musicians were good however the overall mood and atmosphere of the restaurant ruined it.

The place was way too small and very crowded. Couldn’t see the singers but they had good voices.
Fado is part of Portuguese culture which Juan our tour guide did a good job of explaining its background and history.

Seating at the restaurant was very cramped and uncomfortable and hot which made it difficult to focus. Food was not great- cheese was dry like it had been prepared long before we got there although chorizo was good. I would not recommend

El Show es bueno, los músicos tocan muy bien pero NO hay visibilidad hacia los músicos. Te venden una mesa alejada de los músicos y el dueño me maltrato y me violento aún siendo mujer, solo por el hecho de haberle solicitado poder pararme para hacer un mejor video estando de frente a los músicos cuando habían incluso mesas libres en esa parte. Incluso simplemente le pedí estar parada en el fondo del escenario para grabar y se negó y me dijo textual: este es mi país, mi bar y hago lo que quiero.
NO VAYAN DE NINGUNA MANERA, NO VAN A VER A LOS MUSICOS PORQIE VAN A ESTAR LEJOS, LA PICADA ES MEDIOCRE Y EL DUEÑO ME OFENDIÓ Y ME VIOLENTO halegando que el es culto por tener buenas calificaciones y que yo soy una ignorante, solamente por haberle pedido que me dejara estar en un lugar donde pudiera grabar. LAMENTABLE EXPERIENCIA, LA COMIDA PESIMA, EL TRATO AUN PEOR y si te gusta el fado no lo recomiendo, en NIngun espectáculo esta permitido que no se pueda ver el show a no ser que especifique en las condiciones que es sin visibilidad. Se encuentra mi pareja y el guía de testigo

Nuestros guías y el personal de la casa de fado tienen que asegurarse de que los clientes respeten las reglas de la taberna para el buen funcionamiento de la noche. Sentarse y guardar silencio son normas importantes para poder escuchar a los cantantes y músicos ya que no utilizan micrófonos o altavoces y la mayor parte de las letras son improvisaciones. Por otro lado, los artistas y otros invitados estarán encantados de charlar entre ellos durante las pausas e intervalos de la velada.
La persona responsable por el establecimiento en este caso es una mujer, por lo que agradeceríamos que nos diese más información de lo sucedido, ya que no existe ninguna persona masculina que coincida con la descripción que nos transmite en su comentario.
Por último queríamos informarle que la mayor parte de las tabernas de fado funcionan a base de reservas por el escaso espacio que estos lugares tienen. Teniendo que sentarnos donde nos indica el guía, ya que aunque veamos asientos vacíos podrían estar reservados para otras personas.
