A little confusing on meeting and where to go and did not realize we would be with a big bus that was full but was ok though) no narrative information from port to parking from guide, most drivers talk to you about the area. lumberjack portion good, also confusing going back ( no guide with us that part) culture center lunch was rushed. I don't believe anyone had time to finish. I'm sure a work in process. Might have been an off day.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how confusing transitions and a rushed pace can take away from the day, and we appreciate you sharing those concerns. We’re glad you enjoyed the Lumberjack Show and truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Your feedback has been shared with our team as we continue to fine-tune communication, narration, and timing to create a smoother experience.

I cannot recommend this tour. Extremely disorganized and disappointing. We were shuffled around and finally added to another group. Everyone was confused including the guide. The lumberjack show was entertaining but that’s about it. The “culinary experience” was some crackers, chips, a hot dog and barely warm chowder. The entrance to the Saxman village is a sad display of a few artifacts. The lady leading the culinary experience didn’t know answers to questions. I highly suggest booking another tour.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the culinary portion didn’t meet your expectations. Our tasting menu is designed to highlight authentic Alaskan flavors, featuring items like smoked salmon dip, kelp salsa, kelp relish, and wild game sausage, all sourced from local businesses. We apologize if this wasn’t clearly explained during your experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

Poor organisation
Lack of communication regarding details of tour and no overall welcome and explanation of the whole tour and timings
Last minute change of arrangements meaning we had poor visibility at lumberjack show (this was actually quite good)
Culinary experience very poor
Trip did not last 4 hours
Response from Host, Sep 2024

We’re not sure what may have caused the change in arrangements you mentioned, as the tour operated as scheduled. However, we do apologize if the dock staff didn’t clearly communicate the itinerary details. It should have followed the schedule listed online at the time of booking. The lumberjack show was fun and rambunctious! I liked the axe throwing contest the best!
The cultural cusine was very well done. The program included a short historical video, a lunch which included traditional foods such as halibut chowder, crab, and smoked salmon cream cheese dip! Our two hosts showed and explained totems, canoes, masks, jewelry and art work. They were very professional and this was an excellent presentation!

The show was high energy and the lumberjacks were quite amazing. Would recommend for young children to grandparents aged.

We enjoyed learning about the Tlinget culture while enjoying an all Alaskan meal, including sodas, beer and wine. Cape Fox Tours is a native owned business. Lee was an excellent host. He told us of their efforts to source Alaskan products for the experience. Joe is a very talented native artist, and gave us a local’s perspective. Lex gave us a history lesson during the brief ride to and from the culinary experience.
We enjoyed the lumberjack show. Twelve different events, some individual, some in teams of two. It’s a true family activity.
I thought this excursion was an excellent value and a great use of our time in Ketchikan.
Response from Host, Jun 2024

Lee and Joe did a great good with the culinary experience. The food was delicious and all sourced from Alaska. They went above and beyond and let us do a tasting of their Alaska made sodas, beers, and wine. Joe is an incredible Native artist as well, with beautiful work for sale

Loved the lumberjack show! If I wanted a lunchable and a bowl of soup I would have gone to a grocery store!!
Response from Host, Jun 2024
While we are thrilled you loved the lumberjack show, we are sorry to hear the meal didn't meet your expectations. Our goal is to showcase the variety of what Alaskan cuisine has to offer through our three-course meal, featuring locally made and sourced ingredients. We apologize if the charcuterie plate did not meet your expectations and will look into making adjustments. Thank you for the constructive feedback.

Like lumberjack show but the food was not worth the price. If had to do it over would not have taken that part of the tour
Response from Host, Jun 2024

Our tour bus driver, David, picked us up and told us a little little bit about Alaskan culture and his tribe. We went to a big hall where we tried various time types of food popular in Alaska and then to the Lumberjack show. All in all, it was a really enjoyable experience!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
We're glad to hear that you found the experience enjoyable overall. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and we hope to welcome you back for more adventures in the future!
