We did a wonderful walk in the rain forest in light rain with Kevin. He was phenomenal. Pointed out the flora and fauna. And local history. And he had the best sense of humor. Thoroughly enjoyed our time with him.

Jeff was very knowledgeable and kind. We had a great walk learning about local flora and fauna. Jeff was also able to tell us about the Totem pole history. At the end we received a cookie from a local bakery that was delicious!

Kevin was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the land. We enjoyed the tour but will say if you have knee troubles, there is some steep steps and terrain throughout the nature walk.

Perfect way to see nature and history without dedicating an entire day to an excursion

Jennifer_W, Jun 2026
Great tour that provides a short hike into the forest and a stop at the totem park without taking up your whole day. Small group setting with friendly and knowledgeable guides (Jamie and Gabe). Would recommend for all ages.

Great day with Jamie

Sean_K, Jun 2026
We had a great morning with our tour guide Jamie. She was fun and very knowledgeable. Great hike. Lots of information.

Informative and beautiful scenery!

Lisa_C, Jun 2026
Our guide shared lots of interesting information about the forest and totem poles. The scenery was beautiful. We learned a lot! The cookies were delicious! Appreciated that this tour did not involve large crowds neither in our group nor at the sites we visited!

The walk thru the rainforest was very interesting. Our guide, Adam, was very knowledgeable about the area and we enjoyed having many conversations with him during out tour. The Totem park was not as good as the adjacent totem park, but Adam gave us the choice between the two and we picked this one because we had seen the other park on another trip. Overall, it was a good tour.

A good budget tour

Shui_Y, May 2026
The guide, Kevin, was attentive. Cookies were very good and bottled water was provided too. Came across 2 bold eagles feeding on fish by a Creek. The totem place is worth visiting if you've never been to one. Don't expect too much out of a budget tour.

Response from Host, May 2026

This tour is priced to be affordable to all and offer great experiences to all. The two eagles that you mentioned were battling it out in the creek for a fish and when the one eagle lost, it went back to the creek and caught it's own fish to eat next to the other eagle which is a rare sight. The statement "Don't expect too much out of a budget tour" to me seems like a false narrative since we did everything that we said we would do and then beyond. You were also the only two in the group, which is below our minimum and most people would be excited about that as well. We love to share Ketchikan with everyone.

Go for it.

DianeandKen_G, May 2026
There were 6 people on this tour that made it individualized and allowed time for all our question. Kevin was so knowledgeable about the rainforest and the trees and vegetation that are found there. This was also true of the Totem Park. We learned so much about both that we otherwise would not have. It rained the entire tour but that did not dampen the groups enthusiasm for the beauty and history that we experienced on this tour. Would highly recommend this tour and guide.

Rainforest fun in Ketchikan

NancyL_W, May 2026
Our tour was a lot of fun! Jamie and Brian were excellent tour guides, Jamie being a native to the area. She knew so much about the area we hiked, all the plants and what they are used for, and took us to a beautiful waterfall. When we went to Potlatch totem pole park we actually saw really beautiful totems that weren’t falling over. We got to see the clan houses and learned all about their use. Jamie is knowledgeable and fun. On time and exactly at the meeting point. Great tour!

Our guide was knowledgeable about the area. We weren’t really interested in totem poles but some of the stories were interesting. We had a short port day so this tour fit our needs. Nothing overly exciting about it. We did see a waterfall and the hiking through the rainforest was easy. We had beautiful weather so it was nice to get out and explore nature.

Excellent excursion! It was the perfect amount of time - and we still had time to walk around town before our cruise left. Our guide, Jeff, was so knowledgeable - we appreciated the information and his insight. The first hour was a walk through the rainforest - which was beautiful. It was an easy walk. The next hour was at the totem park. Having a guide provide insight and the history was great. We also appreciated the small tour size - there was only 8 of us loaded in a very comfortable van. It was much better than the large tour buses with over 30+ people that we saw at the totem park. The tour also included a bottle of water and the most delicious cookie baked a few hours earlier from a local bakery. We highly recommend this tour.

Nature and Culture!

Jean_O, Aug 2025
INCREDIBLE! The rainforest was beautiful and it was so wonderful to visit the Totem park - it is a must see! I also appreciated the fresh-baked cookies from the local shop!

Amazing learning experience in just 3 hours! Jeff was an amazing host and tour guide and brought a lot of personal and familial knowledge to the hiking and totem experience. This is a must-do activity if you’re looking for a quick nature adventure!

Bait and Switch

Linda_O, Aug 2025
This Tour does not go to Totem Bight State Park. It just goes to some random small sight literally next to the State Park. They had a few nice totem poles but nothing close to Totem Bight. They sure don't make that clear in the description which says you go to "Totem Park." Since we were on a cruise ship there wasn't any time left for us to fix this and I had been looking forward to taking my daughter to Totem Bight. That being said the Nature walk was very nice and the guide was absolutely great. Not his fault that this company is sneaky.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Linda, thank you for the feedback. We do visit Totem Bight State Park, but it is up to our discretion where we visit depending on how many people are in town and other contributing factors that may make the day. The other park that we visit is Potlatch Park, which is a wonderful place to visit and many people thoroughly enjoy the intimacy of the park and it is owned by a local family. Thank you for the 4 star rating, we appreciate the high mark and hope to see you again next time.

If you like the outdoors and hiking this is a must do!

David_A, Aug 2025
This was a truly amazing experience. Our tour guide Austin was the best. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything we explored and asked. He was accommodating and had so much personality. He made the day enjoyable and fun. I cant say enough good things about the hike or totem pole experience especially for the price!

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you David for the 5 star review we really appreciate it. Austin is a wealth of information and takes pride sharing his home with people that travel far and wide to Ketchikan.

Great informative tour in the temperate rain forest of the Tongass national forest and informative tour at Totem Bight park. Nice experience to walk in the forest after long cruise days. Jeff gave us interesting info on the Tongass Forest, Alaskan tribes and culture and the incredible stories related to the various Totems in the park.

Wonderful walking tour in Ketchikan!

k8c899, Jul 2025
Wonderful short walking morning excursion that fit in perfectly before our afternoon show at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in the afternoon. Jeff was our guide and he was fantastic. He was professional, pleasant and knowledgeable on our forest trail walk and later to the totem pole state park. Overall, highly recommended if you just needed a short organized excursion to fill up some time before or after other activities at Ketchikan.

Short, pleasant hike and awesome totem park

Nilanjana_D, Jul 2025
This is a great tour for people looking for the rainforest and totem experiences. Adam (viator contact) was awesome - he responded right away to all my questions and also helped me navigate Viator for canceling one of my tickets. Jamie, our tour guide, was great! She knew the ins and outs of Ketchikan and shared with us amazing stories. The hike was short and sweet, the waterfalls at the end of it was gorgeous, and the Totem Bight park was amazing. Last but not the least, Jamie dropped us (three different families) off at three different places, which was highly appreciated! Definitely recommend this tour!

Rainforest excursion

John_H, Jul 2025
The rainforest was an amazing excursion. The totem village was also exceptional. Jeff was an incredible guide. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

Fabulous tour!

Alisa_S, Jul 2025
Great information. Small groups, talks were able to be heard by all, the walk was not too difficult. The totems were fabulous and hearing the stories behind them was fantastic.

A more personal tour

Andrea_E, Jul 2025
This was a great tour and being small groups you can ask questions about the things that interest you. It was a nice easy walk through the forest and then the totem park. Our guide made sure we were back in time for the show we also had booked.

Great small group hike

Heather_L, Jul 2025
Tucker gave us a great personalized tour! We saw deer and a beautiful waterfall. The totem pole park was incredible and Tucker was knowledgeable about the artist. The fresh cookie snack capped off a great afternoon.

As authentic as a nature walk can get. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable. I’m pretty sure he could save us all if we got lost in the woods. He knows what plants to eat, the terrain, and tons about local culture and history. Aaaaand he gave us cookies after.

Amazing experience with Kevin

Leslie_S, Jun 2025
Kevin was amazing. He was on time he was personable. He was knowledgeable and he came armed with cookies.
