Our tour was a lot of fun! Jamie and Brian were excellent tour guides, Jamie being a native to the area. She knew so much about the area we hiked, all the plants and what they are used for, and took us to a beautiful waterfall. When we went to Potlatch totem pole park we actually saw really beautiful totems that weren’t falling over. We got to see the clan houses and learned all about their use.
Jamie is knowledgeable and fun. On time and exactly at the meeting point. Great tour!

Our guide was knowledgeable about the area. We weren’t really interested in totem poles but some of the stories were interesting. We had a short port day so this tour fit our needs. Nothing overly exciting about it. We did see a waterfall and the hiking through the rainforest was easy. We had beautiful weather so it was nice to get out and explore nature.

Excellent excursion! It was the perfect amount of time - and we still had time to walk around town before our cruise left. Our guide, Jeff, was so knowledgeable - we appreciated the information and his insight. The first hour was a walk through the rainforest - which was beautiful. It was an easy walk. The next hour was at the totem park. Having a guide provide insight and the history was great. We also appreciated the small tour size - there was only 8 of us loaded in a very comfortable van. It was much better than the large tour buses with over 30+ people that we saw at the totem park. The tour also included a bottle of water and the most delicious cookie baked a few hours earlier from a local bakery. We highly recommend this tour.

INCREDIBLE! The rainforest was beautiful and it was so wonderful to visit the Totem park - it is a must see! I also appreciated the fresh-baked cookies from the local shop!

Amazing learning experience in just 3 hours! Jeff was an amazing host and tour guide and brought a lot of personal and familial knowledge to the hiking and totem experience. This is a must-do activity if you’re looking for a quick nature adventure!

This Tour does not go to Totem Bight State Park. It just goes to some random small sight literally next to the State Park. They had a few nice totem poles but nothing close to Totem Bight. They sure don't make that clear in the description which says you go to "Totem Park." Since we were on a cruise ship there wasn't any time left for us to fix this and I had been looking forward to taking my daughter to Totem Bight.
That being said the Nature walk was very nice and the guide was absolutely great. Not his fault that this company is sneaky.

Hello Linda, thank you for the feedback. We do visit Totem Bight State Park, but it is up to our discretion where we visit depending on how many people are in town and other contributing factors that may make the day. The other park that we visit is Potlatch Park, which is a wonderful place to visit and many people thoroughly enjoy the intimacy of the park and it is owned by a local family. Thank you for the 4 star rating, we appreciate the high mark and hope to see you again next time.

This was a truly amazing experience. Our tour guide Austin was the best. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything we explored and asked. He was accommodating and had so much personality. He made the day enjoyable and fun. I cant say enough good things about the hike or totem pole experience especially for the price!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you David for the 5 star review we really appreciate it. Austin is a wealth of information and takes pride sharing his home with people that travel far and wide to Ketchikan.

Great informative tour in the temperate rain forest of the Tongass national forest and informative tour at Totem Bight park.
Nice experience to walk in the forest after long cruise days.
Jeff gave us interesting info on the Tongass Forest, Alaskan tribes and culture and the incredible stories related to the various Totems in the park.

Kevin was a very knowledgeable guide. He was proud of his island. He picked up any trash that someone might have left. Yummy cookies...

Wonderful short walking morning excursion that fit in perfectly before our afternoon show at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show in the afternoon. Jeff was our guide and he was fantastic. He was professional, pleasant and knowledgeable on our forest trail walk and later to the totem pole state park. Overall, highly recommended if you just needed a short organized excursion to fill up some time before or after other activities at Ketchikan.

This is a great tour for people looking for the rainforest and totem experiences. Adam (viator contact) was awesome - he responded right away to all my questions and also helped me navigate Viator for canceling one of my tickets.
Jamie, our tour guide, was great! She knew the ins and outs of Ketchikan and shared with us amazing stories. The hike was short and sweet, the waterfalls at the end of it was gorgeous, and the Totem Bight park was amazing. Last but not the least, Jamie dropped us (three different families) off at three different places, which was highly appreciated!
Definitely recommend this tour!

The rainforest was an amazing excursion. The totem village was also exceptional. Jeff was an incredible guide. Very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
Alisa_S, Jul 2025
Great information. Small groups, talks were able to be heard by all, the walk was not too difficult. The totems were fabulous and hearing the stories behind them was fantastic.
Andrea_E, Jul 2025
This was a great tour and being small groups you can ask questions about the things that interest you. It was a nice easy walk through the forest and then the totem park. Our guide made sure we were back in time for the show we also had booked.

Tucker gave us a great personalized tour! We saw deer and a beautiful waterfall. The totem pole park was incredible and Tucker was knowledgeable about the artist. The fresh cookie snack capped off a great afternoon.

As authentic as a nature walk can get. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable. I’m pretty sure he could save us all if we got lost in the woods. He knows what plants to eat, the terrain, and tons about local culture and history. Aaaaand he gave us cookies after.

Kevin was amazing. He was on time he was personable. He was knowledgeable and he came armed with cookies.

Our tour guide was waiting for us as we disembarked our ship. It was a rainy day in Ketchikan. There were only five us on the tour plus our guide. We rode in a small van with individual seats. Our guide was very informative, telling us about Ketchikan as a rainforest that thrives in perfect harmony. Because it was raining, the forest hike lead us to a raging waterfall, just beautiful. We then drove to the Potlach Totem Park, where it was very peaceful. Though small, it has many beautiful carved totems and our guide shared their stories. A wonderful tour!

Small group! Knowledgeable guide, enjoyed his knowledge about the rain forest and local people and their traditions.
Warm cookies from the local bakery were appreciated!

Austin Called and there was a slight mix up and overlap with the 2 & 3 hour excursion. So we were invited with 3 hour excursion group. It was absolutely awesome! Austin was personable, nice, explained everything and answered all our questions. Our hike to lunch creek was good. Not terribly difficult but worth it. We saw the waterfalls, some harbor seals and watched a bald eagle sitting on a perch and ultimately flying over our heads. We then proceeded to the totem park and again Ausrin explained how the totem stories are related.
He dropped us off at creek street as a request by the group.
We could not have been more pleased with this excursion.

Easy, scenic hike through the beautiful Tongass forest and Totem Park. Our guide Jeff provided excellent commentary along the way, including history of the lands, totem poles and culture. Cookies were delicious also!
Jennifer_P, Apr 2025
Austin was awesome! Extremely knowledgeable, eloquent and funny. He kept us moving along to make sure we made it back to our ship, but allowed us enough time to truly experience the trail and totem park.
jermtastic, Apr 2025
Great tour to walk around the rainforest and totem park. Our guide Austin was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun and informative. Would definitely do this again and highly recommend.

Rainforest Walk & Totem Park Small Group Tour done on Sept. 13, 2024 with Zach as our guide from Wild Wolf Tours. Fantastic! Zach picked us up at Cruise ship terminal in a comfortable minivan, 6 adults on our tour. Drove to a Tongass Rainforest Trail that had no other people, beautiful lush forest with waterfalls, Zach pointed out the types of trees, plants, mushrooms, led us to the Pacific shore, gorgeous view of islands. Zach was fun and high energy, even jumping into the stream to try to catch visible salmon, then we went to the Potlatch Totem Park. Again, very few people there. Stories of Indigenous tribes, how totems are made, awesome totems and buildings, pretty site on the water, nice gift shop with handmade items. Wow, did we get away from the crowds and have a great time! Highly recommended! Thanks Zach!
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Thanks for fantastic, detailed review. We are happy that Zach was able to help you escape into the forest and share stories at the totem park.
Kendall_N, Sep 2024
Beautiful sights. Tour guide was very informative. There was a man that fell during our to our and the guide knew exactly what to do.
Alton_L, Sep 2024
There were not really any memorable moments. The salmon stream was the best part which lasted a short time. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable but was in a hurry the whole time. Tour didn’t meet my expectations nor description listed online.
Response from Host, Sep 2024
We visit 2 beautiful locations including trail in Tongass National Forest and the Totem Park in Ketchikan on this 2 hour tour. We do also offer a 3 Hour Rainforest Walk and Totem Park Tour for those that are looking for a longer tour. We are happy you enjoyed seeing salmon in the creek. Thanks for taking the time to write review.

Our guide, Austin, was a wealth of information from the minute we got in his van. From talking about the recent landslide to discussing the vegetation in the rainforest to the tribal information at the totem pole park -- nothing went uncovered. He answered questions thoroughly and factually. Very knowledgeable.
Response from Host, Aug 2024
Thanks for writing review. We are happy to hear Austin was able to share his wealth of knowledge.

We went on the hike and totem pole excursion a week ago, and I highly recommend the experience. Is it earth-shattering? No. Is it interesting, informative and entertaining, absolutely. What made the tour for my wife and I was our tour guide, Zach. We were a bit concerned about him at first because when he picked us up at the dock, clearly he’d just jumped out of bed and probably overslept, but at least he got there on time. What we most enjoyed was his passion for nature and history and the importance of maintaining both for future generations. As we walked through the forest we didn’t go far before Zach noticed something, stopped us, and taught us something fascinating. The highlight of the hike was when he literally got on all fours and inserted himself into a mound of dirt, much like a hibernating bear. He came out of there an absolute mess, but he didn’t care. He gave us something to remember. Later, when we visited the totem pole park, Zach literally walked to the edge of the lake, and we were all looking at each other like he was nuts. What does he do? He walked back to us having located five sea creatures! It was the most hilarious thing I’d ever seen. If you go on this tour, ask for Zach. He’s well worth the experience.
