We had an incredible tour with Jeff in Ketchikan! He was knowledgeable and helpful- we especially enjoyed hearing totem pole stories and getting to turn over rocks on the beach and see all the animals underneath them. You can see the pride he has in sharing this place with visitors and it was the great to learn so much from someone who clearly respects the forest and the environment!

We had a private guided tour just for our family through the rainforest. Our guide Saint was so knowledgeable and gave us an experience we won’t soon forget. We tasted foraged berries along the hike and got a full history lesson. The totem park was a bonus as well and Saint knew a lot of stories regarding the totems and ancient legends. Not to be missed!

Wildlife Adventure /Totem Pole Park was an incredible experience! Jaime and Patrick were phenomenal guides—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour both fun and informative. She brings such a local flare with such uniqure insights.
The rain forest hike was absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery around every turn. We saw bald eagles, colorful starfish at the beach - just breathtaking views all around. Their enthusiasm and knowledge of the area made the experience even more memorable.
If you're looking for an authentic Alaskan adventure, this is it.

This was our favorite excursion on our Alaska cruise. Kevin was a very knowledgeable guide who showed us lots of neat things & we would recommend to any family wanting a fun excursion in Ketchikan.

This was a wonderful day! We saw so much marine life and the hike on the Lunch Creek Trail was so beautiful. Joe was an awesome guide…so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing his joy in life! Highly recommend

We did 7 excursions during our Alaska trip and this was our last and least favorite. First the van we got into was dirty with crumbs all over the seat and used tissues in the cup holder from the last tour plus it was pretty stinky. Our tour guide Tori talked more about herself, her ex (at least 4 times), her family, her grandfather who had a motorcycle accident and was taken off life support and she was very opinionated in general. She seemed nice enough but we really didn’t want to hear her entire life story. Would rather have heard more about the area, the nature and the culture. The temperate rain forest was really cool and we were happy to experience it, but the totem park was a snooze fest and a tourist trap to yet another gift shop. Not an expensive tour so not much lost but a totally forgettable experience overall.

This turned out to be the highlight of all our excursions while in Alaska (on a cruise). We were travelling with three grandchildren ages 12, 10 and 8, and their parents. This excursion was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone of us. The grandkids were totally interested and enjoyed eating the edible flora and fauna pointed out by our guide, Gabe. The scenery is incredible... trees, plants and waterfalls, and the sea life that we saw close up, dungeness crab, jellies, anemonees, were a big hit with everyone. Gabe, our guide was FANTASTIC! He has a passion for the forest and environment and he really shines. The totem pole park was very interesting and well worth the visit. Gabe offered unique and interesting anthropological commentary on the native people and their customs and life, including mythology. This tour was well worth it and we highly recommend it! The kids and adults were talking about this excursion days afterward. I know they (we) will always remember it.

Great experience for kids but very fun and educational for all ages. Our group was all adults and enjoyed learning about the puppies and dog sledding. We loved playing with the puppies!

Pick up was easy at the Wards Cove port. Our guide (Rock?) was very knowledgeable of the history, wildlife and customs of the original folks who occupied this area. Also, the cookie that is given after the walk is delicious.

I had such a great time on this tour! Our guide was amazing—he was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell he was genuinely passionate about Ketchikan, the rainforest, and everything that makes the area so special. Instead of just reciting facts, he shared stories and information in a way that kept me interested the entire time.
He was funny, patient, and happy to answer every question without ever making anyone feel rushed. You could tell he really enjoys what he does, and that energy made the whole experience even better. He pointed out so many little details that I never would have noticed on my own, and I walked away feeling like I had learned so much.
As someone visiting Alaska, this was exactly the kind of experience I was hoping for. It was beautiful, informative, and a lot of fun. If you're looking for a tour that's more than just a walk through the woods, I highly recommend this one. Thanks to our guide, it ended up being one of my favorite experiences of the trip!

very informative, really enjoyed the tour, this was an alternative to our cruise excursion, we also got yummy cookies

Very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. If you have issues with too many steps you might want to skip.
The tour should supply a head photo system. If you were not walking near the guide you could not hear him.

Great hike through the Sitka spruce and Red Cedar rainforest. Kevin, the guide, was very personable. We even got a great cookie from a local bakery to end the tour!

We had a beautiful day in Ketchikan and enjoyed our hike through the forest to the beach very much. We saw a beautiful waterfall and sea stars. Gatlin was a great guide - personable and informative. This walk is fairly strenuous for to the incline and many stairs.

Gabe was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic! Had a wonderful knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area, especially the coves we visited at low tide, and of the Potlach Park totems and native culture. We had a lovely hike and morning with Gabe, learning about the local Alaska culture and lifestyle here in Ketchikan.

This tour was phenomenal. Our family of six, including a 2 1/2-year-old who is accustomed to hiking and walking, thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide Brian was engaging but not overly talkative, giving us clear and interesting information. He adapted the walk to our family, and we enjoyed a wonderful journey down to the tide pools as he uncovered all sorts of critters, including two giant starfish, eels, and crabs, that we all enjoyed interacting with. The totem park was interesting and engaging. From the very beginning and throughout our reservation process, this company was so accommodating, making special arrangements for us along the way. We would definitely take another tour with them if we were in the area. Big thanks to Adam, who helped us out with our reservations along the way.

Chris_D, Jun 2026
Knowledgeable friendly guide with a good personality led us through a gorgeous rain forest to the beach where we saw the tide came in very quickly. The totem village was very special as we learned about how totem poles are made and what they mean.
Rachel_A, May 2026
Great short hike to the beach. Learned a lot about the trees and saw some neat sea creatures. Only bummer was not seeing any bears but that wasn’t the tour/tour guides fault. Totem park was really neat, as well. Great adventure for those short on time or who want something relatively easy to do (some stairs on hike, so it is not suitable for some).

Discussion on a Banana slug and a few trees.
Lovely spot standing on the water’s edge for 20 mins.
Lovely rainforest.
Debbie_L, May 2026
Be ready to walk and see incredible views of nature. Great trip! We saw bears, birds and salmon. Enjoyed this small group excursion.

Wow, our guide was incredible in Ketchikan. So knowledgeable, so friendly, and the best for this type of tour. Hiking through a rain forest was amazing, we learned so much. He hiked us safely down to the beach too. And the Hotchkiss Totem park was wonderful. We saw an eagle's nest, eagles, ravens, a sea lion, and a first for me, a banana slug.
Michelle_O, May 2026
Had an amazing 3 hours on this Excursion with the guide Kevin.
The Rainforest Walk was incredible.
We are still in shock after seeing how fast the tide came in - would definitely recommend

Go for it. The rainforest experience really bordered on the spiritual. Our guide Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a deep understanding of the area. So glad we booked
Charles_K, Sep 2025
The trail we hiked was a a good example of a temperate rainforest. The waterfall was especially impressive (missed seeing a bear too).

The best experience with Kevin!
We met Kevin outside of the cruise port in Ketchikan (a little confusion with the meeting place because of Viator's error in their description of the meeting place... No fault of our wonderful tour guide)!
Kevin drove us to Tongass National Forest where we hiked the beautiful forest there and saw so many incredible trees, and Kevin described so much as we walked along this amazing area! The trail is so well marked, a little difficult for folks who don't walk well, but absolutely gorgeous for those who love nature. Our weather yesterday was outstanding also!
After the walk, we had delicious cookies and bottled water and then headed to the Potlatch Totem pole museum and site
Just amazing!!! Loved every minute of this wonderful experience!! Thanks so much, Kevin!!

Tucker was amazing! He was especially thoughtful to know when low tide was going to be there so we could see all of the starfish and shells on the beach. The rainforest and all the water coming off the glacier was beautiful. The first nation information in totem poles were amazing that people lived in such a beautiful environment that could be so harsh. Learn so much and have a great time.
Scott_L, Sep 2025
Great trip! Guide was terrific and knowledgeable about the forest and species therein. His love and enthusiasm for the area was contagious and we really enjoyed this tour.
Judy_A, Sep 2025
We really enjoyed the forest and beach walk. Our guide was very informative and funny. The Totem park tour was pretty special.
Alissa_S, Aug 2025
This was a great tour in Ketchikan. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area, and the nature we saw on our hike. He was engaging with the kids on the tour, and offered us interesting information that was never overwhelming. The hike was on the easy side, so you don't need to be really into hiking to enjoy (we aren't and were worried about it!). Also, the cookies that were served after the hike were amazing.
