Great hike through the Sitka spruce and Red Cedar rainforest. Kevin, the guide, was very personable. We even got a great cookie from a local bakery to end the tour!

We had a beautiful day in Ketchikan and enjoyed our hike through the forest to the beach very much. We saw a beautiful waterfall and sea stars. Gatlin was a great guide - personable and informative. This walk is fairly strenuous for to the incline and many stairs.

Gabe was our tour guide and he was absolutely fantastic! Had a wonderful knowledge of the flora and fauna of the area, especially the coves we visited at low tide, and of the Potlach Park totems and native culture. We had a lovely hike and morning with Gabe, learning about the local Alaska culture and lifestyle here in Ketchikan.

This tour was phenomenal. Our family of six, including a 2 1/2-year-old who is accustomed to hiking and walking, thoroughly enjoyed it. Our guide Brian was engaging but not overly talkative, giving us clear and interesting information. He adapted the walk to our family, and we enjoyed a wonderful journey down to the tide pools as he uncovered all sorts of critters, including two giant starfish, eels, and crabs, that we all enjoyed interacting with. The totem park was interesting and engaging. From the very beginning and throughout our reservation process, this company was so accommodating, making special arrangements for us along the way. We would definitely take another tour with them if we were in the area. Big thanks to Adam, who helped us out with our reservations along the way.

Knowledgeable friendly guide with a good personality led us through a gorgeous rain forest to the beach where we saw the tide came in very quickly. The totem village was very special as we learned about how totem poles are made and what they mean.

Great short hike to the beach. Learned a lot about the trees and saw some neat sea creatures. Only bummer was not seeing any bears but that wasn’t the tour/tour guides fault. Totem park was really neat, as well. Great adventure for those short on time or who want something relatively easy to do (some stairs on hike, so it is not suitable for some).

Discussion on a Banana slug and a few trees.
Lovely spot standing on the water’s edge for 20 mins.
Lovely rainforest.

Be ready to walk and see incredible views of nature. Great trip! We saw bears, birds and salmon. Enjoyed this small group excursion.

Wow, our guide was incredible in Ketchikan. So knowledgeable, so friendly, and the best for this type of tour. Hiking through a rain forest was amazing, we learned so much. He hiked us safely down to the beach too. And the Hotchkiss Totem park was wonderful. We saw an eagle's nest, eagles, ravens, a sea lion, and a first for me, a banana slug.

Had an amazing 3 hours on this Excursion with the guide Kevin.
The Rainforest Walk was incredible.
We are still in shock after seeing how fast the tide came in - would definitely recommend

Go for it. The rainforest experience really bordered on the spiritual. Our guide Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable and provided a deep understanding of the area. So glad we booked
Charles_K, Sep 2025
The trail we hiked was a a good example of a temperate rainforest. The waterfall was especially impressive (missed seeing a bear too).

The best experience with Kevin!
We met Kevin outside of the cruise port in Ketchikan (a little confusion with the meeting place because of Viator's error in their description of the meeting place... No fault of our wonderful tour guide)!
Kevin drove us to Tongass National Forest where we hiked the beautiful forest there and saw so many incredible trees, and Kevin described so much as we walked along this amazing area! The trail is so well marked, a little difficult for folks who don't walk well, but absolutely gorgeous for those who love nature. Our weather yesterday was outstanding also!
After the walk, we had delicious cookies and bottled water and then headed to the Potlatch Totem pole museum and site
Just amazing!!! Loved every minute of this wonderful experience!! Thanks so much, Kevin!!

Tucker was amazing! He was especially thoughtful to know when low tide was going to be there so we could see all of the starfish and shells on the beach. The rainforest and all the water coming off the glacier was beautiful. The first nation information in totem poles were amazing that people lived in such a beautiful environment that could be so harsh. Learn so much and have a great time.

Great trip! Guide was terrific and knowledgeable about the forest and species therein. His love and enthusiasm for the area was contagious and we really enjoyed this tour.
Judy_A, Sep 2025
We really enjoyed the forest and beach walk. Our guide was very informative and funny. The Totem park tour was pretty special.

This was a great tour in Ketchikan. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area, and the nature we saw on our hike. He was engaging with the kids on the tour, and offered us interesting information that was never overwhelming. The hike was on the easy side, so you don't need to be really into hiking to enjoy (we aren't and were worried about it!). Also, the cookies that were served after the hike were amazing.

Pretty and informative and the day was better than expected. The guide was very knowledgeable and was a local.

This tour was a real treat. The fresh green Tongass forest is amazing. Learning the history and stories behind totem poles was quite amazing. Jamie really knew her stuff.
It makes a difference when your guide has lived in the area for a long time and really knows all about it. I would recommend it for a great afternoon.
Sharon_G, Jul 2025
Kevin was a fantastic guide! He taught us so much, kept it fun, provided delicious cookies, and made sure to return us to our ship with time to spare. The rain forest was gorgeous, and we loved learning about the history of totem poles.

We recently went on a rainforest tour in Ketchikan, Alaska, and unfortunately, it did not meet expect expectations. Especially considering this is once in a lifetime trip for us.
We were looking forward to learning about the rainforest, wildlife and local ecology. Tucker was largely disengage. We asked questions and you often didn’t know the answers or gave a vague reply.
We also felt that it would’ve been great if he gave the group the opportunity to use the restroom before the travels. Once asked about the restroom he stated that the only place to relieve yourself was near a tree.
We left disappointed and we absolutely do not recommend this tour to others. It was not worth the money.
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hello Carol, I'm sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. I have shared this feedback with our team so that we can learn from our mistakes. Tucker works hard to bring a good experience to everyone and enjoys sharing his knowledge with everyone.

Jeff was an excellent tour guide. Gave us a lot of history and very informative. He brought us water and a cookie for a snack. I recommend this tour for everyone!
Anna_S, Jul 2025
We had a group of 6 and had an amazing time with Kevin. The rainforest hike and totem pole park was the best excursion for our group. We had 2 kids with us, who loved this excursion
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Hello Anna, thank you for the wonderful comment. Kevin enjoys hearing the great feedback and sharing his hometown with people from out of town. We hope to see you again!
Robert_D, Jul 2025
Nice tour with a very informative guide. Both the totem park and the rain forest were scenic and interesting.
Karen_T, Jul 2025
We ended up being the only two guests on this tour later in the day, so we really enjoyed a personalized experience. Kevin went at our pace and took time to point out cool things in the forest. He also told us a lot about the history of Potlatch Park. Would recommend!
Rosie_S, Jul 2025
My husband and I had an unforgettable experience on the rainforest walk in Ketchikan, Alaska, and seeing the handcrafted totems was stunning. We strongly recommend the Viator company and our guide, Josh! He is kind, patient, and very knowledgeable.
Mae_P, Jul 2025
Friendly and knowledgeable guide. Definitely recommend if you are up for a 2 hour easy hike. Stunningly beautiful
Liliana_P, Jun 2025
Kevin was a wonderful guide!! Really fun attitude and so patient with a large group. Definitely bring your rain gear in July (jacket, waterproof shoes, umbrellas would just get in the way). The cookies - OMG!! The rainforest was amazing and we learned so much. Also really enjoyed the totem pole village and hearing the stories. 10/10
Wafik_Z, Jun 2025
Very interesting to learn about the Totem Poles! What an enlightening experience! Gave us a whole new perspective😊
Rainforest had beautiful falls and we went down many steps to the lake. Benches to rest along the way. Jeff, our guide was very knowledgeable and informative from the moment we got on the bus, until the end of the tour.
