Tour guide took extra efforts to make sure we had a great day. She kept looking and seaching for bears until she found a mama and two cubs for us to see. (She made sure we didnt scare it disturb the bears.) Overall a fun day.

Definitely would recommend Katlyn ! She’s so passionate, fun, and helpful for finding animals. She knows her area. 👍🏼

This tour was a wonderful cruise around town in a very comfortable tour bus, equipped with phone chargers, small snacks, and a very knowledgeable owner/operator. Kaitlyn's love of Ketchikan was obvious - from the exacting way she located wildlife for our viewing pleasure to the way she talked about residents and life about the town. Kaitlyn's goofy energy in combination to her life-long experience in Ketchikan leaves you feeling good after a tour with a REAL native. This is a very relaxing tour (light walking at just a few stops, with only one very minor climb)! We didn't get to see starfish but we saw many bald eagles, harbor seals, beautiful birds, and a mama bear with her two cubs. We also got a beautiful picture at a local waterfall. You never know what you're going to get when you book online... But I really felt this trip was worth every penny, PLUS a tip! ;) (P.S. If you're cruising and booking this as part of your time in port, DON'T WORRY - she WILL have you back on time!)

It was a very nice tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed us things like starfish that she found and we saw Eagles. Unfortunately the bears were not out, probably because it was raining again. Don't go to Alaska mid September. The transportation that they had was really nice. Very comfortable, it had charging stations with the cords already in them, and she had snacks for us all and water.

We loved this tour! Our guide was amazing and did everything in her power to get us up close to wildlife (safely). We saw starfish, deer, a bald eagle, and a bear! She went back to our first location to make sure we saw a bear. The waterfall was also amazing!

Our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and gave us a great time. She knew where to find wildlife and their habitats.

Excellent tour!! Katelyn was so knowledgeable and made sure we had the best chance to see as much wildlife as possible, and funny(even with the bad jokes🤣). We had a really great time. Highly recommend this tour!
Jamie_D, Sep 2025
Kaitlyn was amazing, knowledgeable and made sure we got the experience we wanted. She also went the extra mile to accommodate us!
Brittany_W, Sep 2025
Kaitlyn was very knowledgeable about the area (born and raised in Ketchikan) and was always teaching us something along the drive and at the stops. She made the excursion fun even in the rain and had alternate plans ready.
Bob_P, Sep 2025
It was a rainy day but Kaitlin forged ahead and showed us a great time. Her communication was awesome which will put anyone at ease while traveling. She was a local Alaskan and her knowledge of the area was quite interesting. We have been on other tours and didn’t get the insight we got with Kaitlin. Saw lots of wildlife and was dropped back off at our ship safely and on time!

Kaitlyn was our guide and she was very knowledgeable and she gave excellent information and she made sure we got a good spot at each site. As well as stopping if she thought it was something worth seeing.
Excellent tour would highly recommend.

The van was comfortable and had snacks, phone charging cords, and binoculars available. The group was small and the guide was knowledgeable and fun. We saw starfish, salmon, bears, and an eagle.

Our guide Katlyn was EXCEPTIONAL! She's an Alaskan native who knows just where to find wildlife. I highly recommend this tour. It's quick and informative. Be sure to keep alert in town, too. We saw a black bear on wooden steps at the side of a business on Creek Street. Go with Average Alaska Tours!

Great tour! We saw bears /and waterfalls /bald eagle /harber seals/ starfish and beautiful Stellerjays! This was a shorter tour and quite affordable but boy did Katlyn pack it full of fun and adventure!!! HIGHLY recommend this tour!!!!

Short and sweet! For cruise ships coming in with limited time, this is a perfect tour. Our excellent guide Katelyn made sure we saw everything we could, including 3 bears fishing and lots of other wildlife and sights.
susan_w, Sep 2025
Our tour guide was enthusiastic! She really tried all alternative locations to spot a bear. The waterfall area was beautiful. Also the beach area where she went out into the water for starfish(which she returned ). Never saw a purple or orange/orange starfish.

This was a disappointment. I booked a wildlife tour with Average Alaska Tour group. When I got there I was passed off to another tour company "Over the Top" Wildlife Tours. A few people on that tour had tight schedules due to their ship leaving. I was not in a rush. My tour was definitely cut short to accommodate these other travelers. I booked a tour to include three stops: Herring Cove for 45 minutes, A Ketchikan waterfall 10 miles from downtown for 30 minutes, and Rotary Beach for 15 min. We never went to the waterfall. We only stayed 10-15 min at Herring Cove. We stopped at a beach, and lucky to see a whale. Overall, I did not get what I paid for. We did stop at the creek in town to see the salmon swimming upstream, but this is a free walk from the ship in 10 minutes. Also, my booking said "admission included" for Herring Cove and Rotary Beach. The guide I was with did not pay any admissions. In fact, at Herring cove there were many vans and taxis just parked on the roadway. We saw very little wildlife and the commentary was not good even though the driver was quite nice.

Our tour guide went above and beyond to find bears and eagles for us to see. Rainbow falls was beautiful.
Ren_B, Sep 2025
We only briefly saw one bear but the tour guide was great and knew the area inside and out. Great service and every attempt to spot bears was made. Very personalized service. We saw star fish, a baby deer, a bald eagle and some crabs and a pretty waterfall.
Steve_L, Sep 2025
Great experience. Got to see salmon spawning and a black bear eating them! Tour guide was experienced and knew where to take us.
Mo_A, Sep 2025
It was really neat to watch the bear show up, walk around in the stream and then take a salmon to the land to eat it!!
Michelle_H, Sep 2025
If you’re interested in viewing wildlife while visiting Ketchikan, go with this tour! Kate was very knowledgeable about the area having lived there for years. She made sure to avoid too many groups and took us to see some of her favorite spots while it was not overly hard to take photos and enjoy ourselves. Her facts about the island was what made the tour all the more worthwhile! If you want to see bears, starfish, waterfalls, eagles and more book this tour! You won’t regret the personalized experience!
Maribeth_M, Aug 2025
Disappointed on the part of the tour with the black bears because they were barely seen from a great distance. Star fish stop was interesting. Waterfalls were pretty but very rushed.
Guy_M, Aug 2025
Kaitlyn did a great job, very knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed the tour…from the starfish to the bears feasting on salmon.
Jennifer_M, Aug 2025
It was amazing. Such thorough knowledge and huge passion. And thoughtful with drinks and snacks! Loved our time.
Lisa_R, Aug 2025
Loved how we stopped to see mama bears and her cubs. Plus the explanations around the wildlife made the trip so much more meaningful and memorable.
Linda_P, Aug 2025
They were so wonderful. The tour was great. Our ship was four hours late coming into Port due to two helicopter medical evacuations on the way. They were so accommodating and helped us rearrange the time. We had a wonderful day. Aaron was fabulous.
Hilary_M, Aug 2025
Kaitlyn is a local, knows everything there is to know about Ketchikan. Super friendly, tries really hard to make sure you see as much wildlife as possible. We docked in Ward Cove and had our pick up times mixed up, our fault!! She called and offered to moved us to another time if we needed to. Plenty of snacks for the little ones. We booked this last minute. We've never cruised before and were really winging it! Wish we had more time to venture around but, well worth the money and time spent!!
Jamie_S, Aug 2025
Our tour guide was great! She went out of her way to make sure we seen as much wildlife as we could. We were on the hunt for a bear and last stop finally seen one. She blended well with our group. I would high recommend!!!
Tricia_S, Aug 2025
We saw a cute beach and Katlin brought us some starfish to look at, then went to see Bear and saw a nice waterfall next to the road
