Overview
Kauai is famous for its surf beaches, so get in on the action with a surf lesson in Poipu. Practice basic skills on land and learn how to stand up, before heading out into the warm Pacific Ocean to catch your first waves. All gear is provided, and it's a great beginner’s experience with a surf company that's been serving Kauai for more than 30 years.

Turn into the Ko'a Kea Resort entrance off of Po'ipu Rd. Follow the Ko'a Kea signs on your right all the way into the Valet area at the Ko'a Kea Resort (Red Salt Restaurant). Tell them you are there for a surf lesson. We are located poolside next to the Pool Bar at our Hoku Water Sports kiosk.

Great experience from start to finish! Getting to the start location was extremely easy. Valet was very helpful in directions to the shop. The shop attendant was very friendly and had a very fun and easy going attitude. My instructor was anmazing. We were one of the first appointments and so we just happened to be lucky enough to get a private instruction since no one else was on with us for that time slot and we got a few hours of instruction! It was amazing! Got up a few times but over all was an amazing experiences and would absolutely recommend to anyone else!

USE SUNSCREEN, also it's better to not take a break and just keep going otherwise it's hard to get back into the water

The guide was only helping people who could surf. I felt I wasn’t helped. To me it’s bad investment of money and time.

I'm sorry you interpreted the instruction as inadequate. Each individual is given instruction, tips & assistance to their ability level. Since there were four guests learning, each person is given equal amount of teaching. Aloha.

David was wonderful. He gave very thorough instructions and I felt very safe throughout the lesson. I was on my own, but he really helped tailor the lesson more to my skill level. While also providing an awesome experience for the kids in the group.
The equipment was quality and I appreciated the water shoes.
It was my second lesson, and I felt more confident than before and was able to get up and surf a few times.
Everyone at the front desk and equipment rental area was friendly and helpful. I can't remember her name, but the woman who worked there was great too.

We had the best experience with this surf school! We went as a family with our two girls (11 and 14), and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip.
Everyone in our group was able to get up on the board quickly, which made it so fun and encouraging—especially for first-timers. Our instructor was absolutely incredible—patient, positive, and great at explaining things in a way that clicked right away.
You can tell they genuinely care about making sure everyone has a great time and feels successful. The energy was fun, supportive, and super professional from start to finish.

David was awesome. He was so patient and helpful in teaching us how to surf. It was my first time (41yo), my husband’s first time (51yo) and my son’s (10yo) first time and we had so much fun. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Kele was amazing! My husband and I have never surfed before and we were in a group with another couple who hadn’t ever surfed. By the end of the lessons, all four of us had success! Super fun, would do it again.

This was a lot of fun. Were beginners and our teacher made us feel comfortable even before getting in the water. You’ll get a full run down and practice before you’re in the ocean. There is no pressure to even surf. It’s go at your own pace. Really puts you at easy. And Kele is so patient and helpful. Lots of fun, even if you don’t get up.

Our instructor was super friendly and helpful my husband and two sons had a great experience! The girl at the counter was not as friendly or helpful, when we returned from the lessons we were looking for our clothes and she sat there eating just looking at us struggle I went to ask to see if they placed it in a designated area and she just looked at me like I was bothering her. Great place and experience hopefully they get someone more welcoming in the counter!

Kele was amazing!! Lesson started with fundamentals in the grass then we went to the water. Very happy the company provided us with long sleeves to wear as it was cold. Kele was a fantastic teacher/coach. My husband and I both had so much fun! We even saw monk seals on the beach. Would definitely come back to surf again!
