The whole experience was great. Dan & Nick were our van drivers, leaders, navigators, hosts and narrators. They did a great job balancing safety and fun for us. The jeeps were much nicer than we expected; clean, worked well, included a bottled water for each of us and very high quality binoculars. Pick up from & return to our resort was smooth & effortless.

Itinerary

Get ready for one wild ride down the Denali Highway. Your 4-hour excursion by Jeep starts at the time you picked at checkout — 7:30am, 5:30pm, or 6:30pm.

Don’t worry about bringing snacks or beverages with you. They’ll be provided for you, so your mind doesn’t have to be focused on anything besides having a good time.

Follow your guide along the 135-mile gravel road. If there’s more than one person in your car who wants to drive, don’t worry, everyone will get a chance. Your group can switch out drivers to make it fair.

Each Jeep is equipped with a CB radio for communicating with your guide, so unplanned stops can always be made. As you drive (or ride), make sure to keep an eye out for Alaskan wildlife that might be out. Also, spot some awesome views of the Alaska Range mountains and nearby glaciers.

Your guide will even surprise you occasionally by taking you off the beaten path using your Jeep's 4x4 power.

Fun drive

Alice_T, Jul 2025
Well done! Clear communications. The guides were awesome. Fun drive. Great explanations of the scenery and wildlife.

A beautiful drive!!!

Gabriela_Z, Jul 2025
We had a great time doing the Jeep Tour. From the moment we got picked up to the moment we were dropped off, the guides take care of you. The trip is well organized and offers a lot of opportunities to take pictures of the incredible views. We opted for the morning tour and we’re very glad we did as the sun came out and the weather was beautiful. The guides are full of knowledge and they keep the drive entertaining while telling you about the area. The Jeeps are fun to drive especially if you’ve never driven one before. This has been my favorite excursion and would highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed. Book the morning tour, hopefully you’ll get lucky and see the sun too!

Ok but not worth the money IMHO

DAVID_A, Jul 2025
A lot of wasted time is built into this activity resulting in very little sight seeing and wildlife viewing. If you want to drive a jeep and take a few pictures it's ok but would not recommend if you are looking to experience the area and see wildlife for more then 30minutes.

Highly recommend this!

Josh_B, Jul 2025
This was a great way to drive the Denali highway! Our tour guides were fantastic! Lots of knowledge and stuff you wouldn’t get if you drove it alone. Super fun and well worth it. Rick and Nick were awesome, ask for them!

This was a thrill

We had a great time. Loved driving our jeep Pumpkin Pie (my dad called it Enterprise). And with my brother and his family in a silver one, Big Bird, was what I heard. Rudy and I believe, Rick were fun, friendly, full of information and were great at getting good pictures for us. Driving these keeps in Denali was a definite treat and seeing Denali!!!! Wow. Thank you so much and I will definitely tell others about this adventure.

Enjoyable tour guides....

JANICE_J, Jun 2025
Enjoyable tour guides. Beautiful scenery. Wish the Jeeps could travel somewhat slower to enable the wildlife search.

Fun way to see gorgeous wilderness locations

Suzanne_D, Jun 2025
We thoroughly enjoyed this self-drive jeep excursion. Our guides, Rudy and Rick, offered interesting and entertaining commentary through the CBs into each jeep. We saw lakes, rivers, snow-capped mountains, wildflowers, and lots of native trees. We were also incredibly fortunate to see a mother moose with her extremely young calf and later a yearling moose that crossed the road right in front of us. We also had a sunny clear day that allowed us views of Denali for which our guides stopped and showed us where to get the best pictures. Truly a joyful morning!

Awesome trip

Dorothy_C, Sep 2024
Don and Bailey were awesome, thank you. It was a great morning. I will definitely recommend the trip to others.

A lot of money for a drive on the highway

julia_k, Sep 2024
I gave this excursion to stars because Riley and Nancy gave some fun facts along the way. The description of this adventure leads you to believe that you will be looking to site wildlife and driving on less traveled roads. In fact, we were on highway the whole time and never drove less than 40 miles an hour, which was impossible to scope out wildlife along our path. We all just drove in a caravan on two highways. *snooze*

Fun informative Tour

Josh_H, Sep 2024
The guides were absolutely fantastic! I loved the information they provided throughout the tour. It was a good combination of fun and facts. The scenery was amazing and on our way back we got to see Denali on full display!

Boring

Judith_S, Aug 2024
This is a ride down a wide gravel road. You do not go 4 wheeling. You do not drive down twisting, turning, narrow roads. You do not cross little streams or climb steep hills. It is NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

Ho Hum Jeep excursion

mark_g, Aug 2024
Seeing a porcupine was the most memorable experience in this fairly boring 4+ hr excursion. The guides were very nice, knowledgeable and accommodating and the Jeeps were all in very good condition. Other than the aforementioned porcupine, no animals were seen. This obviously was not anyone’s fault but a fact nonetheless. The scenery was nice but our drive to and from Denali had better views. About an hour and a half in total was spent getting everything and everyone checked out and underway on paved roads to get to and from the “main attraction” which is Denali highway. We ventured about 20 miles out and back on this partially paved road. The narrative given by the guides over the CB radios was generally interesting but IMHO not worth the time or money. Of course one moose or bear would have been worth an additional 2 stars.

Not a Jeep adventure at all, find another excursion

R_V, Jul 2024
Falsely advertised as Jeep Adventure. Just a scenic drive over partly unpaved roads. An afternoon of seeing average Alaskan scenes. Nothing memorable. Waste of time. The only thing going for the excursion was the guides. They were knowledgeable, friendly and well organized.

Big Disappointment

Joel_P, Sep 2023
If I wanted to hear 2 hours of stories about ravens, I could have gone to a bird sanctuary. Biggest waste of money on a tour ever

Relaxing tour

Sondra_C, Sep 2023
We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the fact that we drove our own jeep. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable

The best Alaska adventure we did!

Joel_S, Sep 2023
We spent nearly 2 weeks in Alaska, this was by far our favorite adventure!!! Guides were wonderful, they made the ride amazing!

Pick up time confusion. ...

Aileen_R, Aug 2023
Pick up time confusion. We did not get to participate in the Jeep ride. We arose at 5pm and were at the hotel having breakfast. My ticket stated 7:30am. Pick up occurred at 7am. They left without us. VERY disappointed.

Well executed Jeep excursion

William_S, Aug 2023
Pros: Good Jeeps; we went as a couple and didn't have to share a Jeep with anyone else; good logistics with guiding, communication, safety, etc.; knowledgeable guides; provided binoculars & snacks. Cons: NOT a wildlife siting type event; no off roading - just gravel and paved roads; the driver doesn't get to site see very much due to watching the road, the vehicle in front of you, looking for potholes, etc., the passenger gets a lot more site seeing. After Denali Park, this seemed like a tame drive on a gravel road.

The guides were very...

Gail_B, Aug 2023
The guides were very knowledgeable and told some good stories. Didn't see any big animals but the scenery was beautiful even with the occasional drizzle and mud

MUST AVOID. Do Park instead.

Diane_C, Jun 2023
Experience does not match description of "photographer's paradise" You will drive straight down pot hole covered Denali highway alongside river, through vegetation, with forests and mountains in the far distance. Private properties on both sides make turning off major highway impossible. Guides knowledgeable about vegetation, animals you won't see here, and entertaining with lighthearted banter. Save several hundred dollars AND 4 hrs of disappointment. Instead, go to the Denali National Park visitor center and buy a national park pass for your family. You can hike easy, moderate, etc trails for minutes or hours, or ride the shuttle bus around to different vista views in the park, because the bus will stop when they see wildlife and allow you to take pictures.

Great jeep experience

Molly_O, Jun 2023
Bailey was a great guide and provided so much great information. We saw some great sites and learned a lot about the area.
