Make your way to the Black Diamond Resort Co. to begin your Alaskan adventure. Alternatively, pickup is available at select Healy-area hotels.
Climb into a covered wagon hitched to a pair of sturdy draft horses. Take off into the Alaskan wilderness, traveling like the pioneers did. Soak in the historic ambiance and imagine the experience of the first Alaskan settlers as you travel in the shadows of nearby Denali National Park's looming mountains. Be sure to bring your camera for impressive photo ops.
After the 45-minute wagon ride, arrive at a pavilion set deep in the backcountry. Sit down for a hearty meal, served family-style.
Get a chance to meet the hardworking draft horses and take some photos with them, then head back to your starting point, skirting the Denali National Park Boundary. Pass a few rustic Alaskan cabins and listen to your guide's commentary outlining the history of the area as a mining mecca.
Return to your starting point, where your tour ends.

This was a great time. We had a great time with our guide Marek from Prague. He had a lot of Knowledge and humor. The wagon was comfortable and the food was delicious and very plentiful
Awesome! Great people, food was wonderful and beautiful ride! Very knowledgeable staff who let's you learn a lot of history while on the ride. Blankets provided if it's cold. Beautiful horses.
A slow paced ride along dirt trails seeing Mt Healy in the background. We rode up to a cabin and had a sumptuous meal family style. A more relaxing pace than the ATV tour on the same property.
Fun and excellent food guide was a young guy from chekeslvaka who was a lot of fun. Horses were beautiful
Definitely worth it. Padded seats made for a comfortable wagon train ride. Saw moose. Food was good and filling.
This is a one- of-a- kind activity that I recommend, if you like horses and wagons and a unique experience in beautiful Alaska. Etien and Sony led a great tour. The horses were majestic, and the scenery magnificent, with the first snow dusting the mountaintops. If you get a chance to book this unique tour, do it!
The tour guides and drivers were fun, attentive and entertaining. They welcomed us with fresh out of the oven gooey chocolate chip cookies!
The wagon ride winding through the beautiful backcountry was filled with fun stories and information about the landscape. The dinner was exceptional and such a wide variety to meet everyone’s dietary needs. You won’t go away hungry, the service was top notch! I would highly recommend this excursion.
We were a group of 7, and even though our teenager would have preferred an ATV adventure, this was a much better choice for our extended family with ages ranging from 8 to 84. Guide Danny and driver Norah were great. The dinner was good (though my very picky 8-yr old didn’t really eat). The trail was fun. 8-yr old loved the horses and was full of questions.
We had such a great time on the wagon! Marek was an incredible guide and made our experience so fun! The meal that was included was delicious and the views from the wagon were beautiful. 10/10 would recommend for a family excursion, especially after a long day of hiking.
It was so fun talking to Lauren (US) and Ketia. (Paris) Ketia did not even know where Alaska was located when she applied for her job. They have very sparse lodging but were so enthusiastic about their summer jobs.
The wagon at Black Diamond Resort has blankets waiting for you and it goes rain or shine. The ride to the dinner is informative and interesting.
Dinner is family style all you can eat with chicken, salmon, ribs and a stew for all. Food was ok but not the best.
As we came back we were given choice if going down to lake in wagon or going to their petting zoo of goats, ducks, chickens, cows, etc. We chose lake and were not disappointed. 10 o’clock at night and Alaska gave us a full rainbow! Magnificent.!!! It had rained off and on all day.
I’d recommend this just for the time to talk with staff experiencing Alaska as a summer jobs

The ride was pleasant and had a great guide. The information provided about the area and the horses was a great lead-in and follow-up to a delicious dinner. Really likes the ribs and chicken but the corn was the best.

This tour is very nice. You hop in a wagon where they have blankets ready for you. The tour guide we had was wonderful, she was very knowledgeable , and very friendly. Our horses were Rex and Chuck. Beautiful horses. We rode the wagon through the back country, where we came across a dining establishment only for those on the tour. The food was Fantastic! If you love seeing nature, and want to experience the beauty of nature in Denali back country, this tour is perfect. We loved every minute of it.
We had an amazing covered wagon experience and would highly recommend it! Ryan was an excellent guide — very knowledgeable, friendly, and shared so much interesting information throughout the trip. Lauren did a fantastic job driving the wagon and caring for the two beautiful horses, King and Duke. It was clear the horses were very well taken care of.
The dinner location was secluded and the meal itself was excellent break in the middle of tour. Overall, this was a memorable experience.
The scenery was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much info about Alaska in general. We stopped for dinner which was served family style. The food was delicious!! I highly recommend this tour-great way to spend an evening in Denali.

Had a wonderful horse wagon ride experience! Turbo and Rustin were exceptionally well-behaved horses throughout the entire journey. Chad and Eric were incredibly helpful guides who demonstrated extensive knowledge about the local area, sharing interesting facts and stories that really enhanced our trip. Their expertise and friendly demeanor made this a memorable adventure. The evening was topped off with a delicious dinner and great company, making it a perfect combination of outdoor adventure and hospitality. Highly recommend this experience for anyone looking for a unique way to explore the area!

This was a very good excursion. The girls working it, Edel and Zoe, were very good, knowledgeable, and friendly. The ride was a lot of fun. Saw a moose! The horses were kept under control. The lunch that was served was great! So much food!!
First this tour cost 2 adults $225.00. We arrived after a lovely ride from our hotel by a young lady from Galway. She was the highlight of the entire day. We were given a hot chocolate chip cookie before boarding the covered wagon for our ride. Nice touch. Once on our way with our blankets over our legs, we were introduced to our guide and the local young lady who drove the horses. She was very knowledgeable and answered questions. Our guide proceeded to ask us about ourselves and then telI us about herself, and the life journey she took to get herself to Alaska. I would have preferred more info about where we were and what we might see.
I know there is a chance you may not see wild animals on these tours and we saw none, its luck of the draw.
When we arrived at the building for breakfast it was cold. The space heater had not been turned on. The family we met on the wagon
had 4 young children and they quickly sat in front of the heaters as any cold child would and I don't blame them at all for doing so. They were great kids and our grandparenting kicked in, they were fun and bright and talkative, in a good way.
Food, we all were hungry. they offered us coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The meal was disappointing. What was expected didn't happen. family style should have come out all together with large platters of eggs, bacon, bread, muffins, fruit and pancakes. What we got was piece meal, when the food arrived we let the kids eat first. Fruit, coffee, wait 10 min, scrambled eggs. Bacon took awhile to arrive and we all got 2 pieces, reindeer sausage a piece each. Pancakes 5 inchs round we got one, it was a sad excuse for a hearty breakfast meal.
We got to meet the horses after and take a picture with them, the kids loved it and we rode back hungry.
I would suggest not spending the money on this tour and staying in the hotel for a well planned breakfast where you will be warm, fed and you can talk to people around you. Viator shame on you.
It was a lot of fun but took a long time to get to dinner. Our guide and driver were great! The kids loved the horses!
Fun ride! Guides Thatcher and Eric were informative. Included lunch was great, with chicken, ribs and some of the best chili ever! Very bumpy ride, not recommended for persons prone to motion sickness.

Very knowledgeable staff, lunch exceeded expectations, and beautiful scenery. Staff didn't rush and made extra stops for photo opportunities.
It was a great ride in a horse-drawn covered wagon. Half way through we arrived at a dry cabin for a delicious hot lunch.
Thatcher, our guide for our trip was awesome. He mentioned this was his first year doing this job. He is a very personable young man. We enjoyed his knowledge of the Denali area.
