    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Joanna, thank you! A knowledgeable instructor, great food, and plenty to learn is exactly what our Charleston cooking class is designed to deliver every time. So glad it hit the mark, and we hope to welcome you back into the kitchen again soon!

    Easy and Delicious

    Trevor_L, Apr 2026
Our experience was very enjoyable. Our instructor gave a detailed history of the low country cuisine and how to make several Charleston staples. The recipes were not difficult but very flavorful. While we cooked our instructor also explained why certain things were added or why we used certain techniques, mistakes to avoid, as well as tips and tricks. Unlike many other cooking classes you will come away with knowledge that will be of use long into the future and recipes you will happily recreate at home.

    Response from Host, Apr 2026

Trevor, what a wonderful thing to say! Leaving with both the recipes and the real understanding behind them is exactly what sets our Charleston cooking class apart. Knowing the why behind every technique and ingredient is what turns a fun afternoon into a skill you actually carry home with you. We are so glad the Lowcountry flavors and the knowledge to recreate them made for such a memorable experience. We hope to welcome you back into the kitchen again soon!

Martha and Giles were great tour guides/ chef instructors. The dishes we made were delicious and we enjoyed interacting with the other participants. The only downside was that because there were so many participants we didn’t get as much hands on as we would like but would still recommend this activity.

    Response from Host, Mar 2026

Angela, thank you for this and for recommending us, even with the honest feedback! Martha and Guilds make a wonderful team, and we are so glad the dishes and the camaraderie among participants made for a memorable experience. Your point about hands-on time is genuinely appreciated. Our cooking classes are designed to be as interactive and personal as possible, and that balance is something we are always working to get just right. We hope to welcome you back again and give you all the hands-on time you deserve!

HIGHLY recommend for a delightful morning!

    Pam_C, Nov 2025
Fantastic class with Martha leading us through making a classic apple & walnut Huguenot torte, Charleston Pimento cheese spread and Callie’s hot little biscuits. Each dish is a stellar representation of traditional Charleston foods. Each dish was prepared as we were being given the history of the dish and the secrets behind total success of each dish. Absolutely delicious and great fun! We highly recommend this class! The hands on class is offered 2x/day with different menus for each class. We would happily do the afternoon class on our next visit. Note: my food allergies were easily addressed and I was able to make my recipes to accommodate my allergies.

    Response from Host, Dec 2025

Pam, this is such a joy to read, thank you! Martha will be over the moon knowing her blend of storytelling, technique, and Charleston food traditions made your morning so delightful. The Huguenot torte, pimento cheese, and buttermilk biscuits are true Lowcountry classics, and it sounds like you mastered them beautifully. As long as we have advance notice we are happy to accommodate food allergies when possible. Making sure every guest feels comfortable and included is a core part of our hospitality. We’d love to welcome you back for the afternoon menu next time you’re in Charleston. It’s a whole new set of flavors and just as much fun.
