I am lucky enough to work (naturalist) on the cruise ships. As such, I get to bring a lot of friends on their first visit to Alaska. Whenever the itinerary includes Ketchican, I make sure we do this excursion. It checks all the boxes: scenery, wildlife, history, and great stories. I am using the seven times this summer, and will be back for more next season. DO IT!

Great tour, great value!!!

Hanna, our tour guide was great. She knew all about the area and was very knowledgeable about where to go and what to see. She took us to see seals, eagles and salmon. We also took us to see and HOLD starfish, sea urchins and jellyfish. I really wasn't expecting to do that. I highly recommend her as a great tour guide. She even got us some samples of smoked salmon and jam at a stand. It is obvious from her interactions with locals that she is well liked and popular. It was also much cheaper than other options since there were 9 of us in our group.

Must do in Ketchikan

I cannot recommend Judah and his whale watching excursion enough. We had an incredible time. We saw whales within the first 20 mins and continued to see them the entire time. Judah was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the animals that inhabited it. The top deck of the boat had unobstructed views and plenty of space to stand or sit. The main floor of the boat had comfy inside seating to keep you away from the wind and weather as well as places to stand outside on the front or back of the boat. Our family of 8 had a fantastic time.

Half day in Ketchikan.

We did not see a bear until last 5 minutes of tour. Very crowded in Ketchikan that day. Thought we’d see more waterfalls too, but guide said it’s been very dry. Our guide Pam was great- she was so entertaining and knowledgeable and tried every spot she knew to find a bear and she found one for us.

Fun, Happy, Enjoyable Paddle

Wonderful laid back paddle experience led by knowledgeable guides. Brutus the sea lion followed us for a while but was intensely interested. We saw many 🦅, some island deer, orange and purple star fish lions mane jelly fish and enjoyed time out both island paddling and a bit of inlet sea paddling. It rained but this group is well prepared with gear to keep you warm and dry. Kudos and thank you we will see you in May!

Herring cove and totem poles

This was a great little tour of Ketchikan. Chris was SUPER informative, I think he talked the whole time. Very knowledgeable! He brought us to Herring Cove, but unfortunately it was too warm and sunny for the bears to come out. We did enjoy lots of eagles, and he called out and it made them fly over our heads. He stopped at a waterfall and we also learned about some totem poles.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska! The floatplane flight over Misty Fjords was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, pristine lakes, and untouched wilderness from the air gave us a completely different perspective of Alaska's incredible beauty. The pilot was professional, knowledgeable, and made the flight enjoyable from beginning to end. The views were spectacular, and there were so many great opportunities for photos. Excellent Eco Tour

An excellent adventure while in Ketchikan.The excursion pickup location was very near our cruise berth. The excursion began and ended on time. Annika & Emily were friendly and fun.They were knowledgeable in history of the land and passionate about preservation of the ecosystem. They showed us edible plants and picked samples for us to try. Salmonberries & hemlock were my favorites. We had incredibly nice weather which made the bike & hike all the more beautiful.Our guides were patient helping us with the e-bikes. Our hike ended at a bay which was at low tide. We saw sea stars, crabs and little fish. I would highly recommend this tour- you won’t be disappointed.

Matt, our tour director...

Matt, our tour director was simply the best. He assisted my family and me at every turn in the process, from helping all six of us with the rain gear, giving us instructions, watching our every move while on the water while still doing his best to find whales, where we had much success. At the end of the tour, Matt was kind enough to offer to take us back to the ship. Like I said Matt was simply the best.
