It exceeded my expectations and we got to see a bear!
The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the town, area and wildlife and I learned a lot.
Cece_M, May 2026
Shane was fantastic! You definitely get the local perspective and knowledge. Best 2 1/2 hrs spent on shore.
Heidy_G, May 2026
I contacted provider and he never called me back.
Lets start with their itinerary. They offered:
1.- “ Ketchikan creek and falls
Here you will see thousands of salmon as they migrate up stream to their spawning spot.
See pink coho an Chinook. As this is their favorite spot. Spawn”
Well there is no salmon this time of the year. So you will see none.
2.- “ Rotary Beach
Here we'll start with some beachcombing. As we look for gold. (Fools gold that is.) This beach offers a wide verity of sea creatures.
Crab, starfish, sea anemone, abalone Sea urchins. An a good possibility to see whales.“
Well this was really a bathroom stop of 5-10 minutes. We were not allow to go down to the beach or anything. Just to go to the bathroom. Obviously no gold no wildlife and no whales.
3.- “ Ketchikan
Our next stop is at a beautiful cascading water.
A great photo opportunity.”
That we did.
4.- “ Herring Cove
At Herring Cove. We get a chance to see a wide verity of birds. Seal. Bears, Eagles. An deer.”
We stopped there for 5 minutes. We were not allow to walk around or anything. Just parked and stood there for 5 minutes and left.
5.- Saxman Tribal House
Learn the history of the totem. View the largest totem pole collection in SE Alaska, watch as master carvers create new an amazing works of art. An keep the traditional ways alive.
That we did.
In general it was mostly a drive by city tour. Like i explained in detail important parts of the itinerary were skipped and sadly this was a short stop so the robbed us the opportunity of doing any of this stuff because we had to go back to the ship right away. We were with a big group and they felt as cheated as we did. They were very disappointed and unhappy. So in summary unless you want a drive by tour. DO NOT HIRE THIS TOUR.

- meant to be 2.5 hours. Only just over 2
- couldn’t hear the guide on the bus. When we said something he just said “turn your hearing aid up ! “
- only stopped for 10 mins to try and spot bears - which were the highlight. No bears seen 😪
- Guide didn’t tell us why we were stopping Had to ask someone else.
- Didn’t visit the beach as described in brochure
- No water offered.
Really felt this was NOT worth the money Veryoverrated.

Ask for Shane. Well knowledge, good person, knows the history. Excellent guide. Takes excellent care of his patrons
Paula_B, May 2026
Norm made the tour great sharing history and interesting facts. Overall the stops besides the waterfall and Herring Cove were not great. This is an overpriced tour. Value maybe $60 not $95
Response from Host, May 2026
Norms salary, cost of insurance, fuel, permits daily maintenance, snacks, and other fees associated Saxman fees I believe for the price the stops provided a good All-In-One adventure.
I think we are very well priced. Our stops some love more then others. For the majority the route works.
We thank you for your review. And the business advice.
Lisa_J, May 2026
We went with a small group of 6 in a van with Stormin’ Norm. He was a wealth of information from living in Alaska for 80 years.
Casey_M, May 2026
The trip had plenty of stops for scenic photos and provided a lot of history. There was a fair amount on how to read totem poles and the significance of the totem poles in Ketchikan. My wife and 3 teenagers enjoyed the tour, took plenty of photos, and even saw a black bear. Worth it.
Annalyn_G, May 2026
What a great excursion. I saw so much of the island. Norman was an amazing tour guide. He grew up in Ketichan and knew so much about the island. I highly recommend this tour.
Louise_L, May 2026
Lovely people, amazing history and culture just remember that it rains a lot in Ketchikan so be prepared. Wildlife depends on season.
Seokho_K, May 2026
Not much to see for two and a half hour driving - no salmon but a small creek, a small cascade fall but not impressive, no bear, no animals, a few totems, and a lot of driving. The guide drives but not much talk or explanation.
Response from Host, May 2026
You choose a time early in the season we can't just call the fish in because visitors are here.
The bears are just coming down off the mountain tops.
An we visited the home of the largest totem pole collection in S.e Alaska.
But we do thank you for your review.
Michael_D, May 2026
Our Guide/driver, Shane was knowledgeable, helpful and easy going, so no stressful deadlines. We had plenty of time to see what we wanted. He even added a stop so we could get a good photograph of a bold eagle.
Would reccomend this tour!
Elizabeth_K, Oct 2025
It was a great tour. Ava really told about the history and used her life experience to give us the best tour
andrew_r, Oct 2025
Small group with lots of interaction with the guide, who was extremely knowledgeable. Unfortunately we did not see any Bears.
Ellen_H, Oct 2025
Disappointed, event was cancelled, after start of tour, we called and were told they to cancel. Notice should have been communicated via call or text.
Kimberly_W, Oct 2025
They canceled our reservation at the last minute and left us without a tour in Ketch a can very terrible service
Response from Host, Oct 2025

Mark_D, Oct 2025
Cancelled with 1 hour notice, we were only here for one day so hard to find an alternative. Good weather but no reason given.

There was no experience it was cancelled
Waited and waited for the tour to pick us up found out that it was cancelled. Did not receive the email. Until after I was in the line waiting for my tour.
David_T, Sept 2025
Wonderful trip We saw all the wonderful wildlife like Bears, Mountain goats, and Deer, and so many Salmon and Eagles.
Tara_C, Sept 2025
Our tour guide was Ava. She was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. We didn’t get to see any bears but she tried very hard to make it happen. We did see deer, a bald eagle and some seals. Maybe if we’d done an earlier tour that day the bears would have been hungry? Awesome tour. Would do it again!
Trevis_L, Sept 2025
Very educational great experience would recommend to anyone interested in learning about the history of the area
Alicia_W, Sept 2025
Shane was awesome. He knew everything we asked about, was super fun, and definitely knew his stuff. He knew exactly where to look for the bears, Eagles, and was a really nice guy.
Steve_W, Sept 2025
Well organised. Awesome wildlife viewing. I would do it again tomorrow! Great little boat with just 6 of us on board. Friendly hugely knowledgable guide.
julie_m, Sept 2025
You don’t go to a beach. If the cove was to see the bears we went there 4 times on one trip ? The tour guide didn’t have a mic so couldn’t hear him. As for salmon swimming up stream ? What stream.
Weather was bad which didn’t help but waste of money for what we paid.
Antoinette_K, Sept 2025
Shane was a natural, kept us informed and entertained. He even had some hidden gems up his sleeve. Worth the $ and would recommend to family and friends. We saw the real Ketchikan!
Susan_M, Sept 2025
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun! He took extra steps to make sure we experienced some wild life.
Crystal_M, Sept 2025
Loved it! Our guide, Shane, was very informative and you could tell he loves his town and the people in it. We got to see a bear, some eagles, and some sea life. He provided historical knowledge and had a great sense of humor.
Susan_F, Sept 2025
our tour guide Shane was absolutely amazing!! we learned and saw so much of Ketchikan! having a local guide is the best!!
Danielle_J, Sept 2025
Our guide was absolutely wonderful. So full of knowledge and very sweet. We were able to see lots of things we probably wouldn’t have
Joseph_B, Sept 2025
What a wonderful excursion in Ketchikan. Our driver Shane was bound and determined to find a bear for our group. Persistence paid off.
