Angela provided an interesting tour that combined history, culture, and great photography advice! We only had our iPhones for cameras as opposed to others who had real cameras, but Angela helped us make the best of what we had! Highly recommend this tour!

Angela was the perfect tour guide. She was pleasant & knowledgeable and kept us interested with facts and information about the history of the town, the indigenous people, and the wildlife in the area. Not only was the day so much fun, but my photos were the best of our entire trip. The bus was comfortable and the sites we visited were beautiful and tailored to our preferences. I highly recommend this tour!

This was an excellent tour. Angela, our tour guide/driver was extradinary. She provided history of Ketchikan and was quick to spot bald eagles, whales, and harbor seals to us. She always stopped the van so we could go out and take pictures. Angela was very helpful with us in taking pictures with our cell phones. She taught us ways to improve our picture taking. About half way through the tour Angela provided us with coffee and water and a most delicious cookie. Overall this was an excellent tour made especially good because of Angela.

Angela is a very flexible guide. Despite the very rainy weather we got a great photography safari tour including some great wildlife pictures and some good photo tips on features available in our phones. She is a very outgoing, friendly and braves any weather condition.

    Great photo adventure

Angela was the best. She reached out to each person in the group to make the desires of each person met. She was great with teaching use of cell phone to capture as that is what most of the group had. But, she was able to give me special places and ideas for my camera capture.

Highly recommend this excursion. It really is off the beaten path. A myriad of photo opportunities awaits. Tori Boneta showed us how to do things with our smart phone cameras we didn't know was possible. Vibrant and knowledgeable, she was super friendly and helpful. A rare find. Would love to do this again.

Discover Ketchikan in a very different way

An awesome company! They really care about giving tourists a great tour! Our driver/guide took us all around Ketchikan getting us to areas ahead of the large groups. He explained a lot of the history and took us to beautiful scenic overlooks. We got to see salmon runs, waterfalls and even looked at Creek Street where we got to see a black bear just across the river from us. Guide gave us options and went wherever we wanted to go. He didn’t rush through any place at drag it out to just take up time.

    Excellent tour

Gatlin was AMAZING! Very polite, courteous, was patient with my many questions. I ended up having no pictures as my camera was new to me. Anyway I’d love to be able to contact him to have him send me some of his to remember my excursion. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to see the many things this city is popular for and hear the amazing native stories. Loved the family owned park.

An enjoyable tour for non-photographers. Our guide, Angela, provided tips for iPhone camera settings to enhance photos and had informative historical commentary for the sites we visited.

    Allen_F, Aug 2025
First of all our guide, Angela was "Awesome", well versed on photography on the area and made the tour interesting! We also appreciated the personal added Customer Service we received because of a logistical misunderstanding... However, we were hoping for more nature venues , instead, a considerable amount of time was spent at a totem pole park that was very dated ..., and very little time anywhere else....Has the potential to be memorable, not there yet...

Could not have been any easier to find location of start of tour. Kay was very personable and knowledgeable. Kay tailored the tour to accommodate interests and preferences of the group and of the individuals. Great photography tips....also based on knowledge and equipment of individual group members.

Well worth it tour around Ketchikan

    Michelle_M, Aug 2025
It was a great tour around Ketchikan and added bonus was photography tips. We enjoyed it so much and Angela was wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour with photography tips.!

A true photo Safari, including excellent tips for taking better pictures. Angela is definitely five star..

There was no help with photo taking. The meeting place was wrong and we almost missed the tour. The guide was ok. Going

    Renie_N, Aug 2025
Don't do it. Waist of money and time. I could see the salmon and creek st. Just by walking around did not need the van to take us there. Alaska tribe place was ok. Carvings were nice, but would not do this tour.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Renie, thank you for the feedback. We take pride in the sites that we share with folks and many people really enjoy Potlatch Park where the totem poles are. As far as our meeting location is concerned it states in the beginning where you read the description of the tour that we meet at berth 2 next to the statue called "The Rock" if your ship lands in town, which yours did. If your ship lands in Ward Cove, which is generally Norwegian cruise lines, we will pick people up there to save people the shuttle ride. Also, our staff always tries to reach out 15 to 30 minutes prior to the departure time so that we can aid in any confusion. A working phone number is always helpful. In Ketchikan, the major carries such as AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all work here.

    Excellent overview of Ketchikan

    Pete_R, Aug 2025
Fantastic excursion. Our guide Gatlin was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Nice to have a photo tour hosted by someone who knows photography. (Unfortunately, not always the case.)

Well run tour but sights a bit underwhelming.

    Monika_J, Aug 2025
Well executed tour. However, after completing a long yukon alaska multi stop trip we found the sights a bit underwhelming. Ketchikan is very touristy. The guide was very informed and on time and helpful. It was not his fault we found the stops less impressive than we expected. I would not recommend such a tour for the sights if you've just completed a similar land ship cruise.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Monika, thank you for the feedback we really appreciate it. Alaska is like photography in the aspect that it is all different. Thank you for the compliment on the organization we work hard as a small company to to be as efficient as possible. We hope that you give us another shot in the future so that maybe we can find some different locations that may appeal to you more. The guides are usually flexible if it is a small group such as yours was, we are happy to accommodate!

    Photo Safari Ketchikan

    Connie_A, Aug 2025
We thoroughly enjoyed our Ketchikan tour with our guide, Angela. She was very informative about the area. My favorites were Creek Street and Totem Park. She shared her photography tips that gave us beautiful photo memories.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Connie, thank you for the glowing review. Angela takes pride in her craft and loves showing our small town to people from all around the globe. We hope to see again in the future, thank you for coming on the Ketchikan Photo Safari.

    Not for professional...

    Gillian_S, Aug 2025
Not for professional photographers. I am a professional photographer and have done lots of tours. This was really disorganized and was not at the level that I had expected, where the guide knew photography, could make recommendations to take great shots. Was a nice sight seeing tour, but should not be claiming for photography.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Gillian, thank you for the review. Your review is some what confusing. We are all professional photographers with the Ketchikan Photo Safari and we all love sharing our insights and tips for composition and the history of Ketchikan. We have plenty of good feedback from professional photographers that disagree with you. As far as organization, we are a small company, but compared to most our size we offer pick up from both the Ward Cove and the Ketchikan docks. We have a staff that organizes the logistics to make it easier for all, so if you could clarify we would appreciate that so that we can continue to improve. It does seem that you recognize that our guide was articulate in photography and could make worthy recommendations from one sight to the next. To me that makes it worthy of a professional's time and we certainly like to share our thoughts on how to frame up a photo. Thank you for the 2-star review, we appreciate that you found some value in the tour and we hope that you give us another "shot"!

DO THIS TOUR!! Price and Excellent Guides-well worth it.

    Kathleen_G, Aug 2025
We loved! This tour with Brock! He was a terrific guide and showed us some unique and beautiful places that we would have never seen. The photo taking tips were wonderful and I’m already incorporating them in my iPhone pics! The weather was typical summer in Alaska, rainy but not too bad and 60 degrees. He had coffee and delicious cookies for us half way through as well! This has been one of the best tours on our cruise to Alaska!

Great and Gatlin our guide was fantastic.

    Chuck_H, Aug 2025
Didn’t know what to expect with this tour. All I can say was our guide Gatlin was great very knowledgeable and people friendly. He did an excellent job of narrating each experience and all the sites along the way. Totem pole park was very interesting. Float plane dock was cool to see. I liked Creek Street the best and we were there during peak salmon running season which even made it better. Gatlin did a great job describing the area and history of the site.

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Chuck, thank you for the 5-star review we really appreciate it. Gatlin takes great pride in what he knows about the area especially about fish ladders and how they pertain to the salmon population.

    Take the tour!!

    sabryna_g, Aug 2025
Absolutely phenomenal tour. Got personalized help and learned a few things about using my IPhone camera and great shots for my manual camera as well. Tori was a great guide. She was so knowledgeable and patient!

    Response from Host, Aug 2025

Hello Sabryna, thank you for the great review we really appreciate it! Tori is a great guide who loves to share her home town of Ketchikan and her vast knowledge of photography. We hope to see you again in the future, have a great day!

    Nice Day

Casual, informative, and interesting places. Eagle sitings, seashore visit, salmon swimming upstream to spawn, bear feeding area, and a visit to the harbor.

    Great water shots!

    Barbara_P, Aug 2025
Our guide Jacob was great! He asked what we would like to photo and we did bald eagles, bears, salmon stream, waterfall, boat docks. Flexible and fun.

    Wildlife galore!!

    Diane_M, Aug 2025
Great experience! Our guide Angela was super helpful! She took us to some great spots, had some good recommendations for photography setups, and we got to see lots of wildlife! She had a lot of history and fun facts about Ketchikan and made our tour super pleasant. Highly recommend!
