Wet but happy
Nothing like being in a rainforest. Well paced. Matt, our tour guide was knowledgeable. Humorous on top of that. Enjoyed this tour very much.

Don't miss this experience!
Will, the guide was passionate about the rainforest he loves and it transferred to us. We left with a greater appreciation of such a beautiful place.

Beautiful tour! Great guide!
Easy meet up at the dock! About a 20 minute bus ride to the sanctuary driver told you all about the area. Great tour through the rainforest the guide stopped frequently to explain what you’re seeing and let you take pictures. Lizzie (our guide) answered questions along the way! At the end there was a tour of the mill and the totem poles. Highly recommend!

Really great experience
Awesome experience, we learned a ton about the area and the unique natural environment. We saw bald eagles and a bear! Matt was our guide; middle school math teacher during the year, so he was loaded with info and jokes. Some jokes were just terrible enough to be hilarious!

Betts was an amazing tour...
Betts was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable and has a real love for nature. We got to get real close to an eagle and we were fortunate enough to see 2 bears. Make sure you wear rain gear. The coffee shop was so good as well.

Bears in the forest
The Ketchikan Rainforest tour was excellent. If you are lucky enough to have Will as your guide, be prepared for a special experience! Will was very knowledgeable and kind. He explained a variety of trees, plants and insect life that surely we would have missed. He spotted bear tracks and other evidence of their recent presence. As we approached the estuary, we stumbled upon a bear feeding on salmon! He was pretty close by! Got great pics. This experience was once of our favorites and Will certainly made it a highlight as well!

Informative relaxing walk
This was a nice walk through the forest. Stephanie did a great job of explaining various plants, trees and eco system. Saw several young eagles, fish and 3 black bears (although one may have been the same one twice)

Great Walk in the Forest
Nice walk through the forest with our guide, Ella, telling us about the plants and other information about the forest. We also saw a fish hatchery and totem pole carving. We saw many eagles waiting to catch fish in the river. We were very lucky that we also saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs. So amazing!

See a different side of Ketchikan!
I'm so glad I booked this tour. It was something different to do than the usual shopping/walking around town while in port, and I feel like we got to see a totally different side of Ketchikan. Will was a great tour guide and you could see how passionate he was about teaching us about the rainforest. We had a really great time and I 100% recommend!

When to visit

- Travelers who want to see bears in the wild should not miss this wildlife viewing opportunity.
- The sanctuary’s trails—a combination of gravel and wooden boardwalks—are relatively flat and accessible with wheelchairs and strollers.
- Food is not allowed on the trail for bear safety reasons.
- The weather is erratic and most exhibits are outdoors, so rain gear and water-resistant shoes are recommended.
