Wonderful food tour with Claudia

Claudia did an AMAZING job with our food tour. We joined 7 other people, 4 English sisters and an English family of 3 with an adult daughter. We walked and tasted food in 2 neighborhoods and had a great experience. We met our tour group @ the Monument to the Restores who rebuilt this part of the city. Then our First stop was Ginjanha Popular, a family run tavern since 1933. Here we had a half of a Bifana but generous portions of a) thin slices of pork marinated with garlic, bay leaves and white wine served over bread and topped with mustard or piri; and, B) Portuguese chorizo sausage with olives and pickled vegetables. We then climbed a hill into the medieval neighborhood of Alfama where at an outdoor restaurant run by Mozambique immigrants we ate 2 tasty empanadas, 1 chicken and 1 beef, accompanied by homemade, spicy piri sauce. Wonderful! Our third stop was seafood. An amazingly excellent octopus salad as well as a salt cod dish known as Bacalhau were served. Our guide recommended a chilled red wine which had a little Madeira sweetness to it which complemented bwey well these seafood dishes. Our final savory stop was @ a French-inspired gastropub where we had a lovely fresh salad with goat cheese and a really terrific red blend wine Proibido - delish!!! And our final stop was a sweet one at a bakery @ the summit of a hill where we sampled Pastel de Nata. This is a wonderful tart consisting of a flaky, crispy crust with an egg yolk custard center. It was FANTASTIC and a great way to end this culinary experience. I fact, at this end of the tour, 4 of the group went back in for another round of it!!! We would definitely do this again.

This tour was a great way to see the Douro wineries in just one day. Our guide, Jorge, was excellent—he drove very well, provided clear explanations throughout the trip, and even dropped us right back at our hotel.The itinerary was perfectly balanced. We stopped on the way there at Amarante to learn about its history, toured two local wineries, and enjoyed a short, peaceful one-hour cruise. The lunch stop was also exceptionally good. This tour offers exceptional value for money and covers everything seamlessly.

So Much to See

First of all, communication with Alexandre was stellar. And he was equally charming. Sintra was charming, but we got there so early, so not much was open. Walking around was nice. Pena Palace is insanely busy. We didn't do the interior tour since it involved such long lines. Be prepared for a lot of walking for the palace and much of it uphill! We continued to Cabo Da Roca, which we loved! It was nice and breezy and much less crowded. From there we went to Cascais, an sweet seaside town. Alexandre recommended an fantastic seafood restaurant, so we spent most of our time there enjoying fresh fish. Overall it was a great day, and we felt so fortunate to have Alexandre guiding us. The only disappointment was the quality of the van. It was a bit old and air conditioning is not great if you're in the back, but we rotated around.

This luxury yacht cruise was the perfect way to see all 6 of Porto's iconic bridges. Unlike the crowded and congested public tour boats, this experience was incredibly comfortable, intimate, and spacious.They served unlimited wine and a very good charcuterie board throughout the trip. It felt truly premium and relaxing from start to finish. If you want to experience the Douro River away from the big tour groups, this is definitely the way to go.

Spectacular Sintra

First of all, the tour guide makes the experience. Joaquin hit a home run by being extremely well informed, good natured, patience, accommodating, knew the best photos, and willingly took pictures. It was a long, "wonder" full day. In Sintra we had the best pastery and cappuccino. The Regaleira was a mystical experience. Pena Castle was a work of art. If I could give Joaquim 10 stars, I would.
