My son and I had a great tour experience. Raj was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. I will highly recommend it if you didn’t book tickets on time. I have visited the castle before without a guide and missed things, but Raj made sure to explain which places to visit in the castle after the tour.

Great tour of Old Town and the Castle!!

Great tour! Mark was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable. He’s from Ireland and has a loud voice, speaks clearly. Make sure you schedule time following the tour to walk around and inside the castle. This tour ends outside the castle, as guides are not allowed to take you inside. Mark gave us the history and showed us which buildings to go into, there’s more than just a castle, and it was easy to know where to go. It would not have been as easy without someone telling us what all the buildings were. The canon is fired at 1 pm each day. Huge crowd! You’ll hear it from a mile away, wouldn’t spend time watching it. Lines and traffic to get into the buildings is low during this time. Take advantage. It starts on the Royal Mile, and you get some history, then make your way to the castle. Wouldn’t hesitate to book this!

Great views, skip the boat

Great representation of the whole country of Scotland in one day. Really enjoyed the photo stops along the way which broke up the driving, although the Loch Ness boat tour that was suggested ended up being not worth the money. Save yourself the cash unless you feel like a slow cruise across a mediocre lake.

The best way to learn about the castle is to take this tour. We had the fantastic Toni as our guide. She made the tour fun and at the same time informative. She’s schooled in Scottish folklore, music and history. Try to get a spot on her tour if you can!

Adam Was A Delightful Tour Guide - Lochs Are Gorgeous - Skip The Boat Tour

Our your guide was Adam, who was kind, accommodating, helpful, knowledgeable, and so energetic. The highlands are gorgeous and he made sure to stop at any place worthy of a photo, a little walk to stretch your legs, or for a snack and bathroom break. He memorized everyone’s names, gave personalized recommendations for our itineraries later in the week, and provided 12 hours of fascinating commentary with such a lovely mix of kiwi and Scottish accent! The only thing I would say is skip the boat tour at Loch Ness - a bit of a rip off (the boat is huge with hundreds of people, not a fun, campy experience). I could not think of a better guide to show me the highlands and Adam has made me want to return to Scotland to explore more of the country!

We had a fabulous time with Timberbush and our guide, Adam. He was so knowledgeable about Scottish history. He made the experience so much fun. His Playlist and jokes were so entertaining. Our host, Kristi, made us feel right at home. And gave us a huge breakfast. I would recommend this tour for anyone.

Great time!!!

At first we were a bit disappointed cause we thought we'd be on a train from the picture and it was going to be a bus....But it was comfortable and the driver/tour guide made the trip!!!! Just the perfect mix of humorous, friendly, professional, safe-but fun and knowledgeable about the tour!!! Loved the musical playlist accompanying the trip!! So glad we went and would book another!!

Fascinating

A fascinating tour of the vaults under the streets of Edinburgh. We were given a vivid description of the desperate lives of the people who lived in these squalid conditions, and the crime that was allowed to flourish with barely any policing. There was a spooky element which would either make your spine tingle or at the least provide much entertainment. We were lucky enough to have our tour guide (Charlie) all to ourselves and he was very knowledgeable and engaging.

Love the tour. Peter is so great and friendly. He always made sure everyone got to the right places at the right time. He’s very intentional and gave great commentary and stories while driving. The drive was long but Peter made it enjoyable. Highly recommend and would 100% love to have Peter as our driver/guide.

A very informative and entertaining day.

We booked this tour because I am a golfer and wanted to see the Old Course at St. Andrews. That mission was accomplished but it was only part of a great day when David, our tour guide and driver, made sure we enjoyed visits to a couple of charming small towns and the Fourth Bridge. David’s knowledge of history and current activities was clear, but also his great disposition and sense of humor. The tour was not shorts of laughter. We highly recommend it.
