- It is not possible to enter the venues on this tour with luggage or large bags.
- During booking, you must insert the full names of each passenger which should be the same names on their respective identity documents. Tickets will be emitted in the names provided and are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Please note that if you booked an option with an audioguide, a link will be provided one day prior to your entry ticket date to download the audioguide app. It is possible to download the audioguide app for use offline. The app requires a smartphone and is available both on android and ios.
- If you chose an option with an audioguide app and access only when booking, the code to download your app will be sent to you 24 hours before your start time. The app requires ios or android and a smartphone. You must use your own smartphone and earphones.
- Tours including Arena starting from 10:30 AM onwards may begin at the Roman Forum, then continue to the Colosseum, due to Colosseum staff requirements.

When I was unable to get a ticket to tour the Colosseum directly, I looked for alternatives and came across the self-guided tour from Eco-Tours, and I'm glad I did. Locating the representative to get my ticket was easy and being able to navigate the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Roman Forum at my own pace and with the downloadable guide was great. For the Colosseum, I had a 9 AM ticket with Arena. The lines were long but moved pretty quickly. While there were definitely a lot more people there at that time than I hoped, it also got more crowded throughout my hour inside, so I would echo recommendations to book an early time. I also took their advice to start at the Palatine Hill entrance instead of the Roman Forum, which was nice because I got to avoid the crowds for that portion since most people enter at the Roman Forum following their Colosseum visit. I ended up spending about 3 hours in total, and had I not booked a tour for the Vatican City in the afternoon, I would've spent more time at Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum.

We had missed out on buying individual Colosseum tickets, and chose to take this tour - we're so happy we did! The experience was extremely informative as just walking through on your own would not have provided the history and interesting facts as given by our guide Alberto. He was engaging and funny, and answered all of our questions. As the temps were fairly high, he ensured that he kept our group in shaded areas (as best as possible), took breaks for photos, and given time for a bathroom break. We also saw many other landmarks and as it lasts only 3 hours, there's plenty of time left of the day to do other things. Great tour and we would definitely book with this company again. Donatella was our guide. She did an amazing job! She was thoughtful about the heat and kept stopping in the shade for us. She was super knowledgeable, but also down to earth and kept it simple so as to not overload us with information, I would highly highly recommend this tour and if you can ask for Donatello.

This was a complete waste of time and money. While knowledgeable, the guide stood our group in the same spot for 30 minutes telling us about the history. While this information was interesting, we didn't leave the dark entrance for that duration. All other tours were walking around stopping for 5-10 minutes in each spot so that you could actually see the Colosseum. After thirty minutes in the same dark spot, my son and I handed back our earpieces and toured on our own.
I reached out to the company who said that since this was not a private tour, we shouldn't expect more. Ridiculous!

We would like to clarify that you booked a small group tour, not a private one. In a group setting, it is standard practice for the guide to account for the needs of all participants, which may include brief pauses for bathroom breaks. This is a part of managing the overall experience for the group, and the guide is responsible for maintaining a balanced pace to ensure that everyone’s needs are considered.
Additionally, our guides are all licensed professionals with their own individual styles. While the core structure and content of the tour are consistent, the delivery can vary based on the dynamics of the group and other factors, such as environmental conditions. It’s possible that the guide made a brief stop not to delay the tour unnecessarily but rather to provide valuable historical context or to share relevant background information about the Colosseum or other key aspects of the tour. Given that the Colosseum is an open-air site, and considering the high temperatures, the guide likely used the opportunity to discuss important details while also ensuring the comfort of the group by pausing in shaded areas.
The temperatures in Rome reached 38°C, which can be extremely dangerous, and it was a responsible decision to limit the time spent walking directly under the sun. The guide, in fact, made efforts to protect the group by ensuring they remained in shaded spots as much as possible.
We understand that everyone has different preferences regarding how they wish to experience their tour. If you preferred to stay out in the sun for longer periods, you were very welcome to discuss it with the guide at the time. However, the priority in such extreme weather conditions is always the safety and comfort of all participants, and this was taken into account throughout the tour.

Great experience but not for the faint of heart. It is all outside with lots of walking and stairs. No other way to see these amazing sites. We are in our 70s and good health. It was only 72° but we were hot and plenty tired by the end. Our tour guide was good and very informative but hard to understand. Good English but strong accent. So much covered in three hours. If you have the time, split the tour in two for a total of four or five hours. So much to see. So much history.

We completed this tour in June 2024 and Alberto from Eco Tours was very knowledgeable with the colosseum and palantine hill tour. Information, whitty and engaging. The tour was slightly long on a hot day but we choose the 2 place tour.

This is good if you are comfortable with exploring on your own. If you are looking for a tour guide then this tour is NOT for you.
This is how it work:
You download an app to get an audio guide of the attraction, then You will meet your “guide” he or she will give you your ticket, then you are on your own to explore.

We were very disappointed with this tour because of the app that was required for the audio portion. When we checked in with the guide we were shown a QR code for the app Pop Guide. We began the download immediately. It took over an hour to download. It was finished downloading after we had finished going through the coliseum. Worthless to us. It would have been fine if our confirmation instructions had said we needed that app. Then we would have arrived prepared. This was definitely not worth the price.
