A Good Choice

On our tour, we visited food places we would have never found. All the samples were delicious. You needed a tour to explore this area. It was busy with people enjoying them selves.

Travestere Food Tour

Gerri_C, May 2025
This was a nice introduction to Italian specialties. Our guide (Martina) was very thorough in her details of the various foods and very personable. There was a fair amount of walking. My only criticism would be that for several of the stops we ate standing outside by the street which wasn’t an issue for us but could be for older people.

Very good experience

Best guided tour. The guide new the best places to eat. She was very nice and fun. I will recommend the tour if you don’t know the Trastevere area.

Renee_R, Aug 2024
Martina was wonderful. The food was delicious!!! I will be dreaming of that food for a long time. Seeing all the sights in Rome is wonderful but can be exhausting. This was more relaxing and fun.

Family of 5

Martina was the best. She was sweet and accommodating. It was hot and we were tired. Family of 5, three young adults. Food options were very authentic AND Tasty. We did the evening tour. About 3 hours perfect amount of walking and local customs covered extremely well!

Fabulous tour.

Cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Jennifer was an excellent guide and gave us some great background to the area whilst choosing some wonderful food for us to sample. Lots of new things to try and certainly plenty to eat. First class.

The Tour to Pick

Calline_B, Feb 2020
Jennifer was amazing as our tour guide for Trastevere! Her knowledge of both Italian and American language, customs, and food made this tour spectacular! She taught us words and phrases that are actually used, and really helped us find true Italian restaurants (not tourist spots) for our stay in Rome. The selections she chose for us to sample were all delicious and the places she took us to were rich in tradition and community. Just spectacular; Thanks so much, Jennifer!

Danielle is wonderful and the place is magical

we are not foodies, and yet we enjoyed the place so much. Trastevere is a must see and Daniele a must have. he is most charming and friendly, and has a temperament to make everyone happy no matter what age. my dad mom, me my son. he is truly informative, adapts to each person, and patiently walks through the place with stories and laughter. absolutely delighted.

This was an excellent tour. We were the only people on the tour and Andrea was very informative about the food from the various regions. It was also great to meet the local owners and people who take pride in their products. We took the morning tour and after all the samplings we could not eat lunch. Would definitely recommend this tour as it helps you find your way around the streets of Trastevere and also good recommendations of where to eat.

Awesome! Fab guide -- Daniele was so fun. Delicious food, wonderful area to walk around and enjoy and something we'll tell all our friends to do when they visit Rome! We loved it was a small tour in our case personal for just the two of us versus larger tours similiar in nature we ran into. Such fun! You won't regret going on this tour.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and tailored it to our small group of 3. Jennifer, our guide, showed us stores frequented by locals. The availability of cooked foods as well as deli shops, artisanal olive oil, balsamic vinegar and the oldest bakery in the area was delicious and impressive. Farmers market was still open at noon and tasted fresh mozzarella with sweet tomatoes. Along the way Jennifer pointed out historical sites.

Just to clarify for only one star...

shrkfans, Jun 2017
Just to clarify for only one star, I felt that our guide was great and very passionate about the food and the area. However in the description of this tour it states we would visit a historic inn and try some delicious pastas accompanied with Italian wine. This did not happen. I understand that sometimes tours may need to be changed but it should have been changed with a like experience. As it was we tasted snacks, not food! Very disappointed that the pasta stop and wine was omitted from our tour and feel that Viator misrepresented this tour! I probably won't be booking tours through Viator again.

FUN, FUN, FUN!!!! It is very hard not to love the Roman cuisine, Visiting the small shops, family owned for generations, and learning the history of Roman specialties makes eating that cuisine that much more satisfactory. We visited 5 or 6 different establishments and were treated to 10-12 tastings - cheese, meats, olive oil, pastry, gelato, you name it. Just delicious and enough to satisfy us for dinner. Our tour guide Jennifer lives in Trastevere and knows the neighborhood and food like only a resident can. She was superb!

Our guide Jennifer was a delight. Very knowledgable and took us to interesting places we probably would not have found or taken the time to visit on our own. We ate and sample many delicacies. The Jewish bakery in the Jewish Quarter served a hot pastry that we consider to be one of the best things we've ever tasted. Jennifer filled us in on lots of the culture, way of life, and history as she lead us from one delicious place to another.

We had so much fun. Andreas was so informative and actually took us 'off tour' to show us some of the local sights. The food was good and we felt we had a true Roman food experience. At the end of our stay we wanted to find time to revisit the Gelato shop because we couldn't find any better in Rome!

The best tour we've done ever had. Sylvia our guide was on time, informative, interesting and fun. We went to little places we never would have found on our own sampling everything from Farm to table bruchetta with fresh tomatos, zucchini and wonderful cheeses with honey and spicy fig jams. Absolutely recommend it and we will be back next year for certain.

Terrific! Our guide Andrea and his co-guide jacqueline? were wonderful. The food selection, starting with the sour cherry crostada, fried artichoke, ravioli, gelato, etc. was remarkable. It's the first thing we mention when asked about our trip. We had our family of four, plus our guides, so the experience was personal, and flexible to allow a brief detour into an historical church.
