So glad we booked this tour. we definitely learned so much more than if we had just walked through on our own and she was great at getting us through the crowd and pointing out important things.. She was knowledgeable and didn’t go overboard with details.
Jimmy_C, Apr 2026
Our guide was incrediblely knowledgeable. She was able to not only provide facts but answer questions. As both a Catholic and a person interested in history, this felt like a complete tour.
Joyce_W, Apr 2026
Awesome place! Beautiful museum.
Our tour guide had a heavy accent so I had a hard time understanding her.
Maria_G, Apr 2026
While in Rome we did the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica tour - our tour guide was excellent. Claudia was very knowledgeable, easy to understand, and took her time explaining and answering questions. You could tell she liked her job and it definitely showed. The Vatican was impressive as were the other stops on the tour - this is a walking tour as all three are connected. The art work from back in the day is beyond breathtaking and so beautiful to look at, all the detail and color was truly a work of art.
julie_L, Apr 2026
I loved our tour! We could not have had a better guide. Her name is Claudia with Tours of Rome and she was fantastic. She was kind, incredibly knowledgeable and spoke English very well. She didn’t rush through the tour but also didn’t let it drag on. It was a perfect pace actually.
I can’t wait to come back and tour the Basilica with her one day. You could spend a week in the Vatican! This tour shares the highlights and of course the Sistine Chapel - which is a sight to be seen!
Thank you Claudia!
Jennifer_R, Apr 2026
Our guide was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She made sure we were all taken care of. She moved at a perfect pace - not too rushed or slow. Our son had been on a tour previously as he is studying abroad and said this one was sooo much better! We all learned so much!
Angela_D, Mar 2026
Booked onto this tour to avoid the big queues getting in, but once we were inside we were very glad we were with an experienced guide who knew where they were going! The Vatican Museums are very busy so it was reassuring just to have someone to follow. Our guide Philomena was very knowledgeable about the history of the museums and Vatican City in general and told us a lot about the buildings and the people involved as well as the art and sculpture we were looking at.

Do not buy this tour. I feel scammed. Read all one star review. It is the first and only bad experience I have ever had with Viator, but this tour should be banned from the app. This happened to us March 13, 2026. We were a group of three. In summary, the same ticket you can buy for €40 per person, they sell it to you for almost double. They changed our time, which was scheduled in advance, the day before. I had to ask and insist on new tickets. They would still say there would be a “Tour of Rome” guide tour inside. That person never showed up. Save 50% by just not buying the tour.

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear how disappointed you felt and regret that your tour did not meet your expectations. This is certainly not the experience we aim to provide.
We understand your frustration regarding the schedule change and the absence of the guide. Last-minute adjustments can occasionally occur due to operational or site-related constraints, but we sincerely apologize if this was not clearly communicated or properly managed in your case. We are also very concerned to hear that the guide did not show up, and we will investigate this matter internally.
Regarding pricing, our services include reservation handling, coordination, and assistance; however, we regret that the overall experience did not reflect the value you expected.
Your feedback is extremely important to us. We kindly ask you to contact us directly at tous@toursofrome.info
with your booking details so we can review your case thoroughly and assist you further.
Kind regards,
The Tours of Rome Team

I travelled with my 73 year old mother and the tour guide completely left us in the dust and we could not keep up. We ended up finishing the tour on our own. I would not book this again very disappointed.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear that the pace of the tour made it difficult for you and your mother to keep up, especially considering her age. This is certainly not the experience we want any of our guests to have.
Our guides are instructed to maintain a pace that is manageable for the entire group and to ensure no one is left behind. We regret that this did not happen in your case and that you felt compelled to finish the visit on your own.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the disappointment caused. If you would like us to review your booking in detail or share any additional feedback, we kindly invite you to contact us at tous@toursofrome.info
. We would be happy to look into the matter personally.
Kind regards,
The Tours of Rome Team

There is no skip the line pass, despite paying for it. We had to queue for nearly an hour and the museum was very crowded.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and that you had to wait longer than anticipated.
“Skip-the-line” access is intended to reduce waiting time compared to standard ticket lines; however, all visitors are still required to pass through mandatory security checks managed by the Vatican, which can unfortunately result in queues—especially during peak hours. Crowd levels inside the museum are also controlled solely by Vatican authorities and can be very high on busy days.
We understand how frustrating this can be and truly appreciate you taking the time to let us know. If you have any further details or suggestions, or if you would like assistance booking other tours in Rome, please feel free to contact us at tous@toursofrome.info
We’d be happy to assist you personally.
Kind regards,
The Tours of Rome Team
Brigitte_S, Feb 2026
The tour operator cancelled the guided tour two days before and only offered either a full refund or 15% Refund if they provided the skip the line only tickets to the vatican museum but not St. peter’s Basilica as originally included. Very disappointed in this company and would not use them again. We should receive a much larger refund for only getting tickets to the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re very sorry to hear about your disappointment following the cancellation of the guided tour. We understand how frustrating this must have been, especially so close to your visit date.
When unforeseen circumstances require a guided tour to be canceled, we aim to offer the best possible alternatives available at that time. In your case, the options provided were a full refund or a partial refund with skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. We regret that this solution did not meet your expectations and that the experience left you dissatisfied.
Your comments regarding the refund amount are important to us, and we appreciate you sharing them. If you would like us to review your booking in more detail or share further suggestions, please contact us directly at tous@toursofrome.info— we’d be happy to assist you personally.
Kind regards,
**The Tours of Rome Team**

Be early and prepared for crowds. So many people but the guide and tour allowed us to pass 100’s of people
Dallas_M, Jan 2026
1. You'll never see everything. 2. Even in the off-off season (Jan), it's crowded. 3. Our guide, Claudia, was AMAZING. She figured out what we were interested in and helped focus our attention on those topics. She provided important highlights in Vatican history and answered random questions we had. 4. We cannot imagine doing this tour without a guide, and while an audioguide is better than nothing, having a personal guide was absolutely the right call. 5. Even if you're not Christian/Catholic, the Vatican is important to understanding European history. It's so worth the experience.
ViktoriaMariae_L, Jan 2026
Booked this for my aunt who is isn’t tech savvy. No need to worry as she was well taken cared of during the tour.
She had a great connection with her tour guide and they even took photos together. She learned so much and was quite pleased after the tour saying she’s looking forward the trip even more because of the experience.
Natalie_L, Jan 2026
On the particular day we went, it was crowded, and the Sistine Chapel was closing early. Our guide, Claudia, did her best to get us through to see what we could among the swarms of people. It seemed impossible at first, but she was able to get us through!
Gayle_G, Jan 2026
We were notified by email and WhatsApp that our originally selected tour time had been changed, with no explanation provided. At no point were we given a reason for the change. Had we been informed that the Sistine Chapel was closing early, we would have chosen to rebook for another day so we could properly enjoy the museum. We were never given that option.
Instead, the tour felt relentlessly rushed—“hurry, hurry, hurry” was the constant theme. We were pushed through the museum with no opportunity to stop and appreciate the artifacts we traveled 3,000 miles to see. While our guide appeared to be doing her best under the circumstances, we moved so quickly that there was little to no meaningful guidance about what we were seeing as we rushed past it. Rather than engaging with the art itself, we were shown old laminated pages from a history book and told what we would see 20 minutes later.
We paid a premium price for a small-group guided tour, yet ultimately had to rely on Google and a pre-recorded Rick Steves video for context. Frankly, we would have been better off touring with the taxi driver who picked us up from the airport—at least he was informative.
Given the experience, we will be demanding a refund.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations and that the tour felt rushed and disappointing, especially after traveling such a long distance to visit the Vatican.
We understand your frustration regarding the tour time change. Unfortunately, schedule adjustments can occur due to decisions made by Vatican authorities, including early closures of areas such as the Sistine Chapel, security requirements, or capacity management. These changes are often communicated to us with very limited notice, which can restrict the alternatives we are able to offer. That said, we sincerely regret that the reason for the change was not clearly explained to you and that you did not feel given a meaningful choice.
We’re also sorry that the pace of the tour prevented you from fully enjoying the artworks and receiving the level of in-depth explanation you expected from a small-group guided experience. While our guides aim to balance timing constraints with quality interpretation, we understand that this balance was not achieved in your case, and we appreciate your recognition of the guide’s efforts under difficult circumstances.
Your feedback is extremely important to us and will be shared with our management team to improve communication, pacing, and overall guest experience. If you would like us to review your booking in detail or share any further suggestions, please contact us directly at tous@toursofrome.info. We would be happy to look into your case personally.
Kind regards,

Meetup and logistics were simple. Guide was very good and very knowledgeable. Would’ve been better if a little longer. Felt rushed through the Vatican museums. Didn’t get to explore a lot of the exhibits more just point and move on. Spent a chunk of time in the gardens talking about the Sistine Chapel paintings. Made sense since you can’t talk in the Sistine Chapel. But there was a lot of time out there that I would’ve preferred seeing more of the actual Vatican. An additional hour would help slow the pace and see more.

I had an amazing experience touring the Vatican with Giorgio. He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the history and art of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. He explained everything in a way that was easy to understand while still sharing fascinating details and stories that brought each place to life.
The Vatican is very busy and you should expect high crowds and heavy foot traffic — but Giorgio navigated it effortlessly. He kept our group together, set a comfortable pace, and ensured we didn’t miss any of the key highlights despite the crowds.
Giorgio answered every question with patience, made everyone feel included, and truly elevated the entire experience. I would highly recommend booking a tour with him — it was educational, enjoyable, and one of the highlights of my trip to Rome!

Excellent, worth every euro! Don't miss it! Elizabete was amazing. She explained everything very well and was professional and friendly! Many thanks
Douglas_W, Dec 2025
Elizabet was absolutely the best tour guide! I would highly recommend her if you have the opportunity to select!
Marie_E, Dec 2025
Such an amazing experience to visit Vatican City. We were blown away with the history, the art work, paintings and the architecture.
Our tour guide was brilliant from start to finish. She was very clear and knowledgeable on the history throughout the tour.
The radio headphone given to each individual in our group was such a great idea as I have never seen this done before. The only slight issue was that it occasion cut off, however when it worked it was a great way to hear our tour guide speak, due to it being very busy with many other tourists/tour guides. We highly recommend this trip, worth every penny!
Nathalie_S, Dec 2025
Very informative tour and our guide was very friendly. We enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend this.
Maria_L, Nov 2025
I think the guide was going through too fast and her English a little hard to understand at times slower pace
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Dear Valued Customer,

The tour lasted about 2 1/2 hours. While the instruction says to be there 15 minutes before, you should be fine as long as you are there before 2pm. We didn't leave the meeting spot until about 2:10pm. Then it's crossing the street to wait in line for security and another 5 minutes for bathroom/water break. Once the tour got going it went smoothly - we went through the rooms quickly. You could easily spend the whole day at the museum if you wanted to, so much to see. The art collection in the museum is absolutely amazing.
Tara_B, Nov 2025
Tour was amazing. Guide was very knowledgeable and attentive to the groups needs and questions. Very well done.
SHAMIK_D, Oct 2025
Elizebetha the guide was excellent in her communication, manners explanations and guidance. The time schedule was also maintained.
Linsey_K, Oct 2025
Phenomenal tour. The guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Provided in-depth knowledge of everything that was seen. Having heard our guide and others, I felt we were given a great deal of detail and fascinating historical insights.
More importantly, they had fantastic customer service. We told the tour coordinator, Enrica, that we were having a different tour that afternoon and that I mistakenly booked the two close together. Enrica bent over backwards to help us so we wouldn't miss any of the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, or the Basilica. Her compassion for the situation made all the difference. I will highly recommend Tours of Rome to those traveling.
Roy_L, Oct 2025
The guide Debie was really informative! So far the best museum tour i had! Because of whats in the museum and also how knowledgeable the guid is! Thank you!
Hilde_V, Oct 2025
I booked a semi private guided tour and it was well worth it to skip the lines; the Vatican receives 30,000 visitors a day! And the lines are crazy long. However by paying the extra to skip the line it took less than 10 min to get in. Our guide was very knowledgeable and in about 3 hours you have seen it all except the Cathedral, which we did by ourselves. Although the queue was long that was also well worth it. There is a lot of security check points similar to airports.
