I am so glad I booked this transfer to the cruise port. Luca arrived early but did not rush us at all. He told us he was ready when we were. He was professional in every way and the vehicle - Mercedes Van - was like a limo - very comfortable.

I booked the service for my family and friends (total of 6 people) to travel from hotel to our cruise port in Italy. Unfortunately my luggage carry-on that wouldn’t fit on plane was checked and then DELAYED! The airlines was supposed to deliver to my hotel but didn’t. My driver and Viator were very understanding. The driver stopped at the airport so that I could retrieve my luggage. I paid an extra 20 euros but it was worth it. The driver was very friendly and had a great attitude.

I am writing to express my disappointment with a private transfer we booked through Viator on Sunday, May 18th, from our Airbnb in Rome to the Civitavecchia Cruise Port.
While the driver was professional and courteous, we were not dropped off directly at the cruise terminal as specified in our booking. Instead, we were left at an external location and required to board a shuttle bus to reach the terminal. This completely undermines the purpose of booking a private transfer, which we specifically chose to avoid the inconvenience and physical strain of handling our five suitcases across multiple transport modes.
Both my daughter and I have physical limitations, which make such transfers extremely difficult. That is precisely why we were careful to book a direct, private service to the terminal itself. Had we known that direct access would not be provided, we would have made other arrangements.
We have been long-time customers of Viator and have always appreciated the quality and reliability of your services. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those standards. We are very disappointed and would like to understand why the driver was not permitted access, and why we were not informed of this limitation in advance.

Upon investigating, we discovered that the driver was unfortunately unaware that his permit to access the port had expired. This is why he was unable to drop you off directly at the shipside as per your booking. We also find it unacceptable that the driver did not immediately communicate this issue to our office. Had we been informed promptly, we might have been able to arrange an alternative solution for you.
We want to assure you that the control and validity of their documents are the drivers' responsibility. The driver involved will face disciplinary action for this oversight. This incident does not reflect the high standards of service our company aims to provide. As a tangible gesture of our sincere apologies, we would like to offer you a 50% refund for the service. We will process this refund through the Viator platform.
We understand your disappointment, especially given your long-standing relationship with Viator and our services. We sincerely hope you will grant us another opportunity to demonstrate the true quality of our company in the future. We are confident that your next experience with us will be a positive one.

I was really surprised to read such great reviews for this transfer because we had a complete opposite experience.
Our driver was early, which was amazing, but drove like a maniac the whole 90 mins. My husband was incredibly nauseous the entire ride from it. However, we did arrive 10 mins early to the cruise port.
The van that picked us up had not been cleaned out from the last guests. The van also had a very strange smell.

Great driver! Arrived on time. Loaded our luggage. Took us directly to the cruise port entrance. Unloaded all our luggage. Arranged for someone at the port to load our luggage on a cart and take us directly to check in. Great experience and would definitely recommend.

Company quickly sent confirmation and had very good communication throughout.
The driver was early, he was very friendly and ultra helpful! I was traveling with 2 elderly women and the driver helped them in car with patience and a smile.

Kind of a hairy ride, as the driver did not speak or understand much English. We tried to convey that we were not in any hurry and had plenty of time, but the driver seemed to take it as 'hurry' and drove scary fast for the conditions. We are not prudes, one of our other drivers was doing 145kmh/90mph on open highway, and the conditions were fine for that.

Arrived about 15 minutes early which was nice as we were already waiting for him. He loaded our bags and we were on our way. English was a but limited but we more than enough for pleasantries and simple conversation. Driving was smooth and we were delivered right to the door of the cruise terminal. Could not have asked for more
