Your tour meets at our office, located at Via dei Delfini 35/36, 00186 Rome. We are located about 150 meters from Piazza Venezia (a 5 minute walk) and 1.5 km from the Colosseum (approximately a 15 minute walk). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure.

Itinerary

Your tour starts in central Rome where you meet your guide and get comfortable on your 2-wheeled, self-balancing Segway during a brief practice session. When you’re ready, take off with your guide through Rome’s historical center. Allowing you to cover more ground than a walking tour while still being outside in the fresh air, a Segway tour is the ideal way to experience a city filled with so many must-see attractions.

Head toward Capitoline Hill to visit the archaeological ruins of the Roman Forum, home to landmarks like the Arch of Constantine and Trajan’s Column. Listen to a bit of history about ancient Rome from your live as you glide around the edge of the forum, and then pass by Palentine Hill on your way to Circus Maximus, where chariot races were once held.

Then weave your way over to the Church of Santa Maria to check out Bocca della Verità, the Mouth of Truth, a carved piece of marble made famous in the Audrey Hepburn movie 'Roman Holiday.' Legend says, if you put your mouth into the sculpture and tell a lie, your hand will be bitten off.

End your tour by making your way back to the starting point, stopping for a photo-op at a scenic vantage point along the way.

Fat Tires Segway's staff are very friendly and kind. We had a blast doing the Segway. It was kind a scary at first when we were watching the safety video but as soon as we finished the training, we enjoyed it. Recommending to try Segway.

This is a perfect way to see Ancient Rome! Mateo, our guide, was simply amazing. He was knowledgeable, kind, patient, and flexible. We must have traveled 5-8 miles but on a Segway, it was effortless! We learned so much in our two-and-a-half hours together. This was easy on the feet, adventurous for the soul, and intriguing for the mind! Segway tours are the way to go!

This Tour was conducted by Fat tire tours. Sarah our guide was very good in teaching us how to ride a segway and superbly guiding us through the streets of Rome while explaining the historical sites. She also gave us virtual tours using VR Mask when we stopped at historical sites. This is one of the most enjoyable tours.

Booked this the day before as a last minute activity for our first day in Rome. The tour gave a good overview of the Colosseum area along with views of Circus Maximus, Palentine hill and Roman Forum. Riding the segways was fun and took us (adult and 17 year old) to get the hang of it. The traffic on Rome is nuts we had had to cross busy streets, ride around lots of people on sidewalks and ride in the bike lanes own the road. A couple of intersections were particularly a little scary, even for me. More timid kids or those anxious about traffic may not do very well. But we still very much enjoyed the tour

We have a wonderful time with our lovely guide, Eliana (sorry if I spelled your name wrong). She was caring and knowledgeable. We felt safe and were able to see many attractions in a short time. She brought VR cameras for us to see the original images of the ruins she took us to see, which adds a more in depth appreciation of the history.

Great Segway tour through some of Rome. Didn’t waste too much time on training (as we’ve done lots of Segway tours - usually they do), and guide was knowledgeable and efficient. We’d spent some time in the heart of the city and worried that the crowds would make Segway ride frustrating- but guide negotiated a great mix of bike lanes, pedestrian roads and a few short but tight ride on busy roads to keep us moving. We love Segway tours as an overview of places we visit!

We had an incredible Segway tour in Rome, and our guide Matt made it unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Matt was welcoming, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and hidden gems of the city. He made sure everyone in the group was comfortable on the Segways before we set off, and throughout the tour, he balanced fascinating stories with humor and local tips. We covered so much ground — from the Roman Forum to Aventine Hill and Circus Maximus — and Matt brought each stop to life with his storytelling. He even went out of his way to customize parts of the route based on what the group was interested in. This was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Rome. If you’re considering a Segway tour, ask for Matt — he goes above and beyond to make sure it’s a fun, safe, and memorable experience. 5 stars without hesitation!
