Horrible Service

Didn't get to take the tour because at the last minute the tour operator changed the pickup. My ticket stated I would be picked up at the cruise pier. 5 minutes before the pickup time I received a phone call that I now was supposed to be at the train station right then. Totally unacceptable. I contacted viator and was told I would receive a refund but still have not received.

Incorrect leaving time

Be very careful with this trip. We booked a time of 9:30. However the organisor rang me at 8:45 saying the coach was leaving at 9.00. We received no notification about the change of time. Thankfully the lady managed to persuade the driver to wait and we got there for 9:15. The lady has notified Viator and stated it was the fault of Viator

Great but short tour from Cruise Ship

Was the normal site seeing tour of Roma.. however if you doing this tour from the cruise , time it’s really short . Takes 3 hours return trip from the terminal to Roma and back . However the tours in Roma was good.

The time table is too short for a day in Rome. If you have multiple days then it's not a big deal. We opted to take the train back and got an additional 2 hours to spend in town.

Our tour bus had a last minute change of pick up location and phoned 30 minutes to advise. We were waiting at the original location and had no time to find our way to the changed location. Viator refused to refund my $240. I was very disappointed with Viator.

No notification of location change

Drop off and pick up in Rome was not where advertised and we were never notified of the change. We had to run through Rome to get to the Colusseum at our reserved time and just made it. It was very frustrating.

Very nice to have a prearranged ride from Civitivecchia to Rome. The hop on hop off bus is a great way to pass by many important sites - especially if you don't have a lot of time. We chose to visit Vatican City so were unable to follow the entire bus route. Next time, for sure!

Not Hop on Hop Off!

This is not Hop on Hop Off experience - was transfer to Rome only! Company tried to say that this was an add on but there was no option to do so. Not happy!

Terrible experience!!

We arrived at the pick up point in time for our 9:30 am shuttle to the Hoho bus. We did not leave till 10:15 , and then someone was on the wrong bus so we had to wait. Finally the bus left for Rome without the missing people. When we arrived in Rome we were told about the stops on the bus and to meet back at 3:30. At 2:00 we tried to get on the return bus, and they wouldn’t let us on because we were too late! We are 3 senior citizen women on our 1st trip to Rome. We asked how we could get back to the pick up spot, and the driver said he didn’t know, he just drove the bus! So we went to a cab spot and got a taxi. It was $20 to get back and we sat for an hour waiting for our return bus. We were never advised how long the HoHo bus would take to do the whole drive. Very disappointed with the rude bus driver and the guy trying to push us in the bus. This excursion was supposed to be transportation to the HoHo bus and back If the transportation bus was on time we would have made it. We only got off on 1 stop!!!

Not worth the money

The transfer bus was 40 minutes late in leaving for Rome. When we got there the busses were so full that we could get on and had to wait over an hour at stops so we needed up walking and not using the bus after the first stop.

Prepare for Disorganized Start and Long Waits

Our experience with the Civitavecchia to Rome transfer and City Sightseeing tour was unfortunately less enjoyable than expected. Although we eventually made it to Rome, the onboarding process was disorganized, with significant delays and a repetitive attendance check that really slowed things down. Communication was also lacking, as the guide didn’t introduce himself, making it hard to get the information we needed since we didn't even know his name. While we appreciated the hop-on-hop-off format to maximize our short time in Rome, the stop choices could be improved—starting at Circo Massimo wasn’t ideal. It would be much better if the first stop were the Colosseum. Additionally, the wait times were frustrating; contrary to the "guaranteed" 15-minute intervals, other companies' buses consistently arrived first, leaving us waiting at nearly every stop (almost 20-25 min). Overall, if you have the option to go with Big Bus Tour instead - stick with them!

It’s so far and so busy in Rome, we were only able to do one thing, visit the stairs, take a couple pics then head back to the bus. This trip shouldn’t be offered knowing there’s not enough time to do much. Not worth the $. This seems to be the theme of their tours.

Leave yourself lots of time for the bus tour. We were on a cruise and didn't get off the bus at every stop. Very busy city with alot of traffic. Plus side bus had to drive slowly through certain parts which gave us time for pics on the top deck

We never got the hop on hop off tickets sadly , they only provided a transfer , and the descriptions were labeled wrong sadly. We thought we were booking transfer from port to Rome then hop on hop off tickets , but they said it was only for transfer , and we did choose the option for hop on hop off . Therefore we were on our own at that drop off point . Sad
