Best tour guide in Italy!

Your guide does not have sign with your name on it. His sign read Red Bus Tour which was not what it says on your email. By far the best tour guide we have had in all of our trips to Italy. Paoulo was extremely knowledgeable and handled the movement through the museum very professionally. The Borghese Gallery is a masterpiece from the floor to the ceiling and everything In between. Paolo was a wonderful spokesman for the galleria.

Our expert was really knowlegeable and maked the tour engaging. However, some sections of the gallery were under construction - if you have specific items you want to see, it will be a good idea to check the open sections beforehand. Also make sure to check the gardens before you leave!

Had a great time our guide was very knowledgeable. She was a professor and you could tell that she loved what she was doing. My girls were 18 and 15 when we did the tour was and they absolutely love it. They even said that they would like to do another one . It was exactly the right amount of time to enjoy it without being too long. I would highly recommend it.

No tour guide for the private tour

The Gallery is great but disappointed that the guide was not available when we got there. We should have been notified In advance and offered a full refund. Instead, they offered to give us tickets to enter and a free audio guide which we accepted. They gave us a partial refund but it was less than the cost of the service we actually received which was just an entrance to the Gallery.

Or guide was great. She was so knowledgeable and patient. Answered all our questions and always a smile. Only 4 people in our group. I would have given 5 stars but only the ground floor was open as the upper floors are under renovation. Of course I could have researched this myself but I actually feel like the company should have let us know in advance and also adjusted the pricing accordingly. We were able to see some of the pieces at the Barberini Palazzo instead. But it was another 5Euro to get in there. Plus it was an addition to our day that was not planned. Of course not guided over there.

Price of ticket exorbitant because we purchased only 3 weeks before trip and Borghese website direct tickets sold out probably months before. That being said, the museum was fantastic as well as our guide Irene whose enthusiasm was infectious. She was knowledgeable and interactive. Excellent English and pronunciation very easy to understand. I am writing this review mainly to thank her for a wonderful experience. Also, the audio equipment was very good. Thank you!!

This was an excellent tour. I would not advise anyone to tour this gallery without a trained guide. There is so much more to be gained from the explanations given and we would have missed so much without this. Our guide was exceptional and with a group of 12, she was able to lead us through the gallery with ease. Come early and tour the grounds!

Raffaela was a wonderful guide. Two hours seemed like 30 minutes. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the gallery. She is very patient. Could not give a higher recommendation.

This was inexplicable— we arrived at the tour time and we saw people gathering around the guide but there was some issue with the person with the phone to check us in (?) or something and we couldn’t join the tour. It was surreal. I asked, can we just join the tour until you figure out how to check us in, and they were like, no I’ll explain your situation in a moment, then was making phone calls and fumbling around with someone else who was also trying to scan something with their phone… it was so weird. Long story short, we watched the tour group leave with the guide while we were told we could download an app to take an audio tour. Not wanting to be charged the full amount of the booking for an audio tour, I asked for our entrance ticket and we would just figure something out. They didn’t have printed tickets, and tickets were sold out for the museum for the day. We left the next day so there was no way for us to rebook. The whole thing was a mess. I’m still confused about what happened. It was maddening— I double checked and the instructions said to show up at 10 for the 10AM tour. We booked a vatican tour with The Roman Guy and there were clear instructions and communication throughout. It was a perfect experience. I thought all tour companies were created equal but now I’m always going to double check the name and I won’t be booking this one again. Part of why we came to Rome was to see the Borghese and it was super disappointing to have to miss it because of this tour company’s… I don’t even know— tech issue? Lack of physically printed tickets? Whatever it was, I got a refund.

Horrible. Do not waste your money. Of course the Villa Borghese is worth seeing. We went to the designated meet up stop as described on the map and at the proper time and no one met us. A tour guide finally approached us and said oh you’re my tour but then when we gave our reservation name she said oh yeah your tour guide is sick today and said you can come back tomorrow. (Odd) now that I’ve tried to get a full refund, Viator is totally gaslighting me and saying that’s not what happened. Just the weirdest most disappointing experience. I will probably not use Viator again because this is not cool.

Our guide is very knowledgeable. He showed us all the masterpieces in the museum and gave very detailed explanation of the background, context, techniques for each piece. The only issue (not related to the guide) is that the museum has a 2-hour visit limit so I felt we were quite rushed to go through all the most famous pieces and there was little time to see anything else. Regardless I think this is a great tour for those who want to learn something about the art history. Borghese museum is a place worth visiting repeatedly!

I had, of course, seen photos of these famous works in books, but seeing them in person was a breathtaking experience. The tour was just the right length. We saw a lot, but were not exhausted by the end of the tour. Our guide, Maria, was very knowledgeable and offered a great deal of information about both the great works of art and the history of the gallery. This was one of our favorite tours in Rome.

Four of us took a guided small group tour of the Borghese gallery. Our guide is shown in the picture. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the statues and art. This was a very good tour, there is so much to see and learn about. We really enjoyed it, and we skipped the line. Highly recommend!
