Georgia offered detailed insights into the history of the Roman Forum and Palantine Hill as well as what life was like for people in those times. I was especially intrigued to learn of the construction techniques in Roman times.

Alessandra was a very personable and knowledgeable guide. Seeing the Domus Tiberiana was spectacular!

This area is so rich with a complex history that it is great when a guide can simplify it for you and out the ruins in context. It brings the history to life. Our guide Angela was phenomenal and brought a deep knowledge and gift of storytelling.
Janet_Z, Jan 2026
The tour guide is so knowledgeable and explain the detail history about the forum. We really enjoyed it.
Sandra_W, Oct 2025
Very informative. Guide very knowledgeable. A little incline and stairs, but overall not bad walk. Bring your ID. We were not told we needed it. We did not have our passport with us, but thankfully had our id.

Knowledgeable, friendly and fun. The guide , Adman,
Knew his history, was easy to follow and kept us engaged for the full tour.
Mary_G, Sep 2025
The meeting spot was easy to find and convenient. The guide, Alex, was knowledgeable and entertaining. The ruins were well worth the time spent in exploring and we got some great photos to capture memories.

Our guide does this tour almost everyday so you will be in good hands as we were. He clearly spoke and provided valuable insights on the tour. The listening devices were quality. I used my earbuds instead of the single bud offered. Don`t hesitate to book this guided tour as you will be glad you spent the extra Euro`s for a guide. By the way the pace was very good.

AMAZING!! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, engaging and personable. Felt like we could have explored the area the whole day with him and we still wouldn’t have seen or heard about everything he had to share. 10/10 recommend!

Relaxed start with a guide professional and good listening devices. The starting location is not obvious so it’s good to get directions before you go. We entered at a quiet entrance with no lines. The tour was excellent, not rushed and just the right amount of information. Highly recommended.

Very nice guide who was extremely knowledgeable! Great history. The tour is abbreviated so I’d recommend reading up beforehand so you’ll know what you’re seeing. Also includes inside colosseum which I didn’t realize.

Fe is a perfect tour guide! She’s a former teacher and explains everything SO engagingly. She’s also super good about water breaks, bathrooms breaks, and shade (super important on this steamy June day in Roma)! LOVE!!!

This was an excellent tour: well-paced and informative without going into exhaustive details. A good balance of information of politics, religion, and social life in the Roman era. The guide was fantastic. He was obviously knowledgeable and had a pleasant manner of speaking, and he was clearly easy to understand through the headset. This tour did not include the colosseum which made it a good choice since my travel companion was concerned about too much walking and stairs. We were glad to go early in the day because it got hot. Bring a water bottle with you!

Great value as the tour covers gets you inside the forum very quickly. The guide was just so knowledgeable and a great communicator who built the full narrative from the first site to the last by telling us each stop’s unique story and how it ultimately paints the history of Rome. Highly recommend it.

The Forum is honestly one of the best sites to visit in Rome. You can easily spend a day. While we loved the Colloseum, it seems like the Forum is not as emphasized. Not to be missed! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! Sadly we cannot recall her name.

A great tour, particularly if you’ve already been to the Coliseum. Fee (?) was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, extremely clear in her delivery of the facts and very witty and engaging. A fascinating tour of this unique place.
John_D, May 2025
Great experience; Fi (our guide) was phenomenal. We appreciated both her knowledge of ancient history and her ability to put that history in context. She was very good at conveying the impact and influence of Roman history on the modern world and her enthusiasm for the subject was contagious. Loved every second of the tour.
Robert_c, May 2025
did wait for group to assemble before giving talk, she knew her subject and presented it in a very understanding manner

A must do tour. Although the Colosseum is spectacular, you’ll learn more about Ancient Rome by doing a tour like this of the Palatine Hill and the Forum.
Our guide, Alessandra, was incredibly knowledgeable, clearly passionate and great fun! We would’ve spent the entire day with her given the chance.
Follow the fish! 🐠

We got an excellent guide. I think her name is Fee. She used to be a chemistry teacher. We learned a lot and loved the pace of the tpur.

Interesting and informative tour.We have been before but this gave us so much more insight . Wasn’t long enough
William_C, Nov 2024
Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He showed us many things we would have missed and he did a great job of explaining the history of each place.
Adrian_V, Oct 2024
This was such an awesome tour. Our guide was super informative and relaxed. It was more a discussion between people, rather than a if you look to your you'll see blah, if you look to your right, you'll see blah. Definitely recommend.
Toni_R, Oct 2024
I really think your experience depends on the guide. Our guide seemed very knowledgeable and passionate, but spoke too fast and with her accent, was hard to understand. Plus the earbuds are just one earbud, not two. So, you’re hearing all of the other visitors with the other ear.
We also passed by many things in the forum and when one person asked what we just passed, she responded that it wasn’t important and there were better things to see. There was also another person who mistakenly called a room a ‘cave’ and she lectured her for quite a while. It was kind of embarrassing for her and the group who were giving each other looks.
The following day, we came back with a private guide and the difference was night and day. Yes, a private guide costs more but if you’re from the US, how many times will you be able to get to Europe? Get the private guide. It’s worth it.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Hi,
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad you found the guide knowledgeable and passionate. we understand that a guide's accent can sometimes present a challenge: our team is made up of local experts who have spent their lives here, studying the history and culture to provide truly authentic and insightful tours.
Regarding the use of single-ear earbuds, safety is our priority. Given the busy, crowded routes that include street crossings, it’s essential that everyone can hear their surroundings to stay safe: it’s a necessary precaution.
As for your experience with group tours versus private ones, we understand that a private or semi-private experience can provide a more tailored and leisurely pace, and we offer those options. Group tours are designed to provide highlights in a structured timeframe, while private tours allow for a more personalized approach, including the flexibility to focus on specific interests and areas. If this was your priority, a private tour was indeed the ideal choice.
Thank you again for your feedback. We’re always working to improve our guests’ experiences and appreciate your input in helping us do so.
Kind regards,
Diana

I was really looking forward to this tour and was very upset when our tour guide spoke very bad english. It was so bad multiple people left the tour within the first 20 mins because it was so difficult to understand what she was saying. The tour guide seemed very knowledgeable but it was hard to get anything out of the tour. Our group was pretty disappointed on how this tour turned out.
alicekaderlan, Oct 2024
do not use Viator! They totally screwed me for a tour of Roman Forum. They use a subcontractor City Walkers who didn’t get me an entry voucher. I had to buy an individual ticket to gain entry, City Walkers was totally unresponsive to my immediate calls and texts. I will now have to challenge the Viator charge with my bank when I get home.
Response from Host, Oct 2024
Dear Alice,
Thank you for your feedback. After reviewing the situation, I’d like to clarify a few details. According to the information we gathered, you arrived late at the meeting point, and the other person from your reservation was missing. Nevertheless, you joined the group, and our guide conducted the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tour as planned. However, we were informed that you repeatedly requested to visit sites not included in the tour you had purchased, such as the Capitoline Museums.
Please note that the service was provided as advertised. Since you booked a guided tour, the guide held the group tickets, and your group used a dedicated entrance reserved for group tours. Rest assured, we always strive to deliver the best experience possible, and we are sorry to hear the tour did not meet your expectations.
Should you have any further questions, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Diana

Very interesting walking tour with a good guide. We did the Forum and Palatine Hill. Those who continued on to the Colosseum missed the opportunity to continue exploring these sights so we feel it better to do the Colosseum separately
MaryCaroline_M, Sep 2024
Our guide, Felicity, has a wealth of knowledge and did a great job sharing it with us. She also has a great sense of humor which was a lot of fun!
Roger_A, Sep 2024
The guide totally made this tour with interesting facts and tidbits. The special access to all areas was also a great part of the tour.
JiaHann_T, Sep 2024
I do believe the tour would have been great had my wife and i been able to take part. It would have been better to just book direct with Colosseum and get the audio guide.
The only saving grace were the staffs, Anastasia and Moon. Ananstasia was very helpful in making arrangments for us to add on Colosseum and the Underground Arena. While Moon was very patient and helpful in trying to get us to meet up with the guide. Yes, its our fault for being late by about 10mins due to bad traffic in Rome (it was our first day) though we had reached out about 30mins before the start of the tour to inform them, and they said they'll try to wait for us.
After which, a male staff then contacted us and was very unhelpful. We accept that we have missed the Colosseum, and asked if we could still go for the Roman forum and Palatine Hill tour. The male staff just said no and said that it's because the audioguide have been given out. However, this second part of the tour is separate from Colosseum and it was really puzzling to us, why we can't wait and join in for the next part. We even had to ask Citywalkers whether there's a possibility to reschedule.
This tour isn't cheap and i do hope Citywalkers can be more helpful to their customers. We are just here to have a good time and we booked your services to facilitate it.
I also highly suggest Citywalkers to change the description to better reflect what happens at site. If you start queuing or distributing the audio guide 30mins before 2.55pm, then just indicate that the tour starts at 2.25pm instead of 2.55pm.
