Great tour!

Awesome tour! The tour guide was professional and knowledgeable. Rome is a beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour.

Our experience was a...

Sahib_M, May 2026
Our experience was a horrible one. Please read before you book! We were asked to be outside 10 mins before 830. Our driver actually arrived at 840 - 10 mins late. Had been smoking in the van. The smell and smoke was so bad my daughter had to use her inhaler. The driver didn't speak any English. We asked a few questions to find out the plan of the day etc. He silently drove us to Rome. Once we arrived at the Colleseum - a lady stopped on the side of the van. Looked like his daughter. She called him a Pompeii. Spoke to the driver for 10 mins while we sat in the van wondering what was happening. Then the doors were opened. Without any instructions or plans - we were asked to get out of the van. We asked the plans. The lady said - my name in Nadia and I will be your guide. We were rushed to the front. Given a 3 minute explanation of the area and she used a copy of a picture from a textbook. Our guide did not even volunteer to help us take a group picture. Our group of 8 had to take repeated selfies. We had 20 mins outside the Colleseum - of which 10 mins was walking to the van. The driver did not park anywhere close and we had to roll the wheelchair over the cobble rocks to get to his van. Then the guide said she needed to be in the van as well. We were 8 passengers plus the driver then we had to squish in - 9 seater van had to take 10 passengers. We were squashed. Even worse was that the driver had been smoking in the van while he waited. We were all sneezing and coughing. Then it took 45 mins to drive to the fountain. Nadia, the guide, did not even volunteer to watch our wheelchair or even take a picture. We had to ask bystanders. Do NOT book this tour company. We were supposed to have 60 mins at the Vatican. The guide asked us to return in 10 minutes. We are disappointed. A complete waste of over $4000. This was NOT worth it. Save your money. Take the train from the port and take a golf cart tour - 1/10th of the cost and a driver who will actually speak English and take your pictures too.

Response from Host, May 2026

We regret to hear about your disappointment. Please allow us to address the concerns raised: 1. Please note that this tour description clearly states that the tour is NOT wheelchair accessible. We could have refused your participation, but made a gesture of goodwill by allowing you to join. Guess we need to reconsider such exceptions further 2. Our drivers are permitted to smoke, but never inside the transport. 3. Please note that, in full accordance with the tour description, the guide joins the group in Rome. No guide services are provided during port transfers, as drivers are responsible for safe driving only. 4. On all shared tours, our guides do not provide personal assistance such as pushing wheelchairs, assisting with van embarkation, taking pictures, etc. If you require more personal attention, please consider booking a private tour rather than a shared tour. 5. The tour price is approximately $200 per person, or around $400 per couple, depending on the selected tour options. This information is fully available on the Viator website 24/7. It is definitely not $4,000, so please check your calculation. When booking future activities, please base your expectations on the tour description and restrictions rather than personal assumptions. Safe travels!

Tim_R, May 2025
Our guide was not very good. We passed many major landmarks and she did not point them out to us. The Forum was one example. An important landmark and part of the itinerary but overlooked by our guide. Very disappointing

Response from Host, May 2025

We regret to hear that you didn’t enjoy your experience, especially considering this guide is a fully licensed professional with 17 years of experience and an outstanding record of positive reviews. It seems your disappointment may stem from an expectation of a private tour, which you mentioned to the guide upon meeting. Please note that private tours in Rome are not available at a price point of 130 EUR. Additionally, we’re unsure why you expected the guide to point out the Forum, as it is not included in — nor passed by — on the tour itinerary. When booking through Viator or any other platform, we strongly encourage guests to carefully review the detailed itinerary provided, rather than rely on assumptions. We wish you safe and enjoyable future travels!

Too hurried

Yolanda_V, Apr 2025
Started 15 minutes late. It was too hurried and there were elderly people that could hardly keep up because the guide would walk too fast and only quickly glance over her shoulder to see if she had people right behind her only.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for your feedback. Let me address all the concerns you raised: 1. The tour departed on time. Please note that the operator allows for a 30-minute window to collect all participants at the Civitavecchia cruise port. 2. As stated clearly in the tour description under the "Additional Info" section - tour requires SIGNIFICANT walking, which makes it inaccessible for wheelchair or scooter users as well as those with limited walking mobility. 3. For guests with limited walking ability, like yourself, we strongly recommend booking private or semi-private tour options, which are able to accommodate such special needs. 4. Shared group tours are NOT suitable, as it is important to respect other participants who wish to use their limited time in Rome efficiently without delays waiting for those with limited walking mobility. Wishing you safe and pleasant travels!

Beyond high expectations

Warren_H, Sep 2024
Tour guide was excellent. One thing to note the pickup point is outside the terminal. Tour left late. There is not much time to shop.

Matt was great.

Stephen_H, May 2023
Matt, our local guide, was terrific. Even his English, he's British, was quite understandable. Wonderful tour, covered everything we wanted and more. Thank you Matt.
