We were unable to get through to the tour operator as torrential rain in Rome and hour before and taxis and ubers were long waits, we bought umbrellas for 40€ to try and walk it but rain and wind destroyed them. In the mean time tried to contact tour company who offered zero support. Gave me number which did not answer. Really upset as planned my trip to Rome around this and not offered any solution at all. Would not recommend CityWonders tour company at all

Dear Kirsten,
We’re sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced due to the severe weather and understand how disappointing this must have been.
City Wonders provides several ways to contact us, including our app, where guests can reply directly to tour updates, as well as email, live chat, and the emergency phone number provided at the time of booking.
We would be happy to look into what happened and see how we can assist with the best possible resolution. Please contact City Wonders directly with your booking details so our team can investigate further.
Way longer than expected. The guide was very talkative and opinionated. It was very hard to find the meeting place due to construction. We were of the understanding that we could do more than just the basic tour

Hi Joe,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
Our guides are passionate about the history of the Colosseum, but we appreciate that the experience should feel engaging and balanced rather than overly opinionated or lengthy.
Ee regret the misunderstanding regarding what was included in your tour. We always aim to clearly communicate the itinerary and inclusions in advance and our team can double check your inclusions if you contact us with the booking reference.
Great tour..lots of walking and steps. Hisam, our tour guide, was very informative and articulate. He gave us lots of chronological historical dates and information to explain the long and interesting history of the Roman Empire and how the military and political events shaped the great city of Rome. Hisam was knowledgeable, kind, patient and made it a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend him as an experienced tour guide.
This was a great tour and the tour guide was so entertaining and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who appreciates learning about history with a small group.
Good experience good to have knowledgeable guide. See the bits you would just walk past explained. Nice time not too long.
Very knowledgeable guide. Was just the right amount of time. Definitely take the evening tour in the summer. Guide was good at keep us in the shade as much as possible... kept the younger kids involved and interested.
Scott was amazing! He was funny, engaging and definitely knew a lot about the Colosseum. We did the tour with our three teenage children, and they said this was our favorite experience in Italy!
Alba was a great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the Colosseum. We enjoyed it very much. Wear comfortable shoes!
Very misleading. The floor access. Is just not the real floor. You pay extra for nothing. Plus it starts at another location and you walk for 20 to 30 min just to get there. Want a full refund

Dear Daniel_R,
Thank you for contacting us and sharing your feedback.
First, we would like to kindly clarify that access to the specific area depends on selecting the arena floor option at the exact moment of booking, as different ticket tiers include different access levels. Regarding your expectations of the space, we strive to provide clear descriptions, and we are sorry if the experience did not match what you had imagined, as this is unfortunately not a reflection of our descriptions being misleading.
Additionally, please note that the tour begins at a designated meeting point nearby, which involves a brief walk to reach the site entrance.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
We really enjoyed our tour and thought Rosaria was fantastic! She was so informative, kind and had a great sense of humor. My two boys really enjoyed hearing all about the gladiators and the naval battles.
Well worth doing especially the latest time .
Francesca our tour guide was amazing - so knowledgeable and interesting
You need a tour guide you can understand. Sadly, no one in our tour group could understand much of what was said. The tour was very rushed. Our guide kept saying we were late to everything. We skipped some things.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We're sorry to hear that you found the local guide's accent too strong and that the pace felt rushed.
Your comments are valuable, and we'll share them with our local operations team so they can review both the guide's delivery and the tour timing. Please also contact us directly with the booking reference in order to investigate this further.
I wish you a lovely stay in Rome.
Luca was great and very informative. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the Colussem. Recommend
Go extra early to the meeting point. We were dropped off at wrong place and given poor directions to the meeting place by our cab driver. There is a great deal of construction in the area and Google and Apple Maps were giving us conflicting directions to meeting spot. After calling the company and meeting up with a different city Wonders group, we did eventually find our group (already on tour). Our leader was very kind and helpful.
It was very an informative tour, learnt a lot of history from Luca. He is very passionate and interesting to listen too. Thanks again!!
The tour was great. Out tour guide, Sylvia, was excellent. She had great knowledge of the history of the Colloseum and was very friendly.
Fabio was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Very interactive tour guide and we were provided with headphones so we could hear everything. Tour takes closer to 2 hours and if you do the 5PM time the gift shop will not be open at the end of your tour.
Great day out...super hot but plenty of cool water available. A must see...when in Rome ;) out guide was knowledgable and fun.
He was very entertaining in relaying the history of the Colosseum . I could’ve listened to his stories longer than the time allotted.
We walked with the guide from Trajans column to and through the collosium. It felt a bit rushed and it's very very crowded. However. I appreciated that we were the last ones in the follusium before it closed. It finally became a bit less crowded. Guide was very knowledgeable.
Our tour guide made this Colosseum visit exciting and educational. She was so knowledgeable and really had passion and love for the history in Rome.
We booked a small-group Colosseum tour months in advance and unfortunately missed it due to an unexpected 3+ hour delay clearing customs at the airport. As soon as we realized we would not make the tour, I contacted the company to explain the situation.
I fully understand and accept that the tour was non-refundable. My disappointment is not with the refund policy, but with the complete lack of flexibility afterward. Since we had paid nearly $500, I asked whether we could be accommodated on any other Colosseum option they offered—even a self-guided ticket, audio-guided experience, or another tour with a rebooking fee. I was willing to pay additional costs and worked with the company for two days trying to find a solution.
Unfortunately, I was repeatedly told that no alternatives were available. While I understand policies exist for a reason, I would have appreciated some effort to help us salvage at least part of the experience. The customer service was polite, but the inability to offer any accommodation left us feeling disappointed, especially given the circumstances and the amount spent.
If you're booking, be aware that there appears to be very little flexibility if travel delays prevent you from attending.

Hi Monica,
We are sorry to hear that unexpected airport delays prevented you from joining your Colosseum tour.
Unfortunately, Colosseum skip-the-line tickets are issued on a nominal basis and are tied to the individual visitor and specific entry time. In addition, ticket sales and allocations are often finalized days in advance, which means that last-minute changes or rebookings are frequently not possible, even when additional payment is offered.
While we understand your disappointment, the limitations were due to the ticketing regulations and availability set by the venue rather than a lack of willingness to assist. We always aim to help our guests whenever possible and regret that, in this instance, no suitable alternative could be secured.
Tour was very informative the guide was amazing. This was my 5th time and always learning more. Highly recommend.
First off! Our guide, Highsam (the Egyptian Guide) did a fantastic job. Very knowledgeable and was in tune with his group! Made a long walk seem short. The Coliseum was amazing! Standing on grounds from 2000 years ago!
Very well organized and informative - would go again and use this group for other tours around Rome!
Communication was really good, we met quite a distance away from the Colosseum but we were reminded five times where we needed to go and it was easy to find our group when we got there. There was a lot of standing around, we arrived 20 minutes early as necessary and it was a full 45 minutes before we even started moving towards the Colosseum so that was my only gripe. My understanding is that the guide got stuck on the previous tour due to too many people having to wait for the elevators so she was a full 30 minutes late. We still managed to get around everything and did not feel like we had missed out. The 5 pm timeslot was good, there were still thousands of people around and it was not night time when we went, it was still very warm but certainly less of a hot afternoon than it would’ve been a couple of hours earlier. You will need to show your passport and your ticket three times to get in and you spend a full 20 minutes sitting out in the arena, so bring sunscreen and a hat. There is no shade out there! Knowledgeable guide, well paced.
Very informative, well organised and probably the best guided experience we have ever had. Our guide was amazing, her knowledge and attentiveness was 10 / 10. Thank you.
The Tour doesn't start at the colosseum.
Starts at the Trajan Column .
Would of.like to hear more history
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Hi Mary,
Thank you for your feedback. You're absolutely right the Colosseum by Evening Guided Tour with Arena Floor Access begins at Trajan’s Column to offer important context before entering the Colosseum. We do offer other tours that start closer to the Colosseum itself, just a few minutes’ walk away. Our guides are passionate storytellers, and we’re sorry to hear it didn’t feel that way during your experience. We appreciate your comments and will use them to continue improving.
Thank you for such a graphical and descriptive guide that made all the difference relating so much that we saw
The tour was conducted in a very professional manner and we enjoyed our guide immensely. It started on time and had a good pace to keep it interesting. We learnt some entertaining facts that refuted some common misconceptions about everything from gladiators to Christian martyrs. Highly recommended! The bonus was not having any queues at any stage of the tour.
