The tour was conducted in a very professional manner and we enjoyed our guide immensely. It started on time and had a good pace to keep it interesting. We learnt some entertaining facts that refuted some common misconceptions about everything from gladiators to Christian martyrs. Highly recommended! The bonus was not having any queues at any stage of the tour.

1. Carlos our guide was phenomenal. His passion and knowledge about Rome made the tour 10/10.
2. We were 8 minutes late to our meeting point as the taxi dropped us off at the wrong location. The young lady waiting for us could've been a bit empathetic. She did not offer to walk us to meet the group and did not give the ear piece to listen to the guide's commentary. I thought this was rude as anybody could be late in a new country for any number of reasons....and while she was waiting per my request. She should've had the 4 ear pieces with her. We paid over $700 for the tour to have to not hear the guide's commentary. She couldn't care less!
Luckily the guide had 2 spare ear pieces and we took turns listening.

I’m very upset. It was my first day in Rome and I didn’t realize how long it would take me to get to the meet up place I tried to reach out and no one was helpful so I lost $400 worth of a tour. It was just me and my daughter There was no offer to help us meet up with our group in front of the Colosseum There were many groups there it was very doable I will not be using your services again I should have known I used the service in Nashville, Tennessee and the entertainment was ridiculous.

I had a terrible experience with the Colosseum by Evening Guided Tour with Arena Floor Access on September 15, 2024. I arrived at the meeting point
, followed all instructions, but no guide showed up. I tried contacting the operator for over 20 minutes, but their phone was offline, and they never responded to my messages.
Viator’s customer support claimed the operator tried to call me, but I received no calls at all. I have proof that all my attempts to reach them went unanswered. Despite paying a significant amount for this tour, I was left stranded and unable to participate.
This level of service is unacceptable. Viator needs to take responsibility for the operators they work with. I’ve been a loyal customer, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company. I demand a full refund for this failed service.

The least memorable was how long I had to walk around all the construction to find the meeting place. The meeting place should have been closer to the colosseum. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the colosseum.

Wonderful and thorough tour of the Collosseum. Our amazing guide Nikola was a wealth of information and every minute was filled with tidbits about the rich history of Rome. It was an enjoyable walk through the city from the meeting point to the Colloseum with stops along the way to see a few sights and learn about the changes to the landscape over the last 90 years. Definitely recommend.

Our tour guide was very nice and incredibly knowledgeable. The only reason I am marking this experience as average is because we got separated from the group with one bad turn and then, there was no way of getting in touch with him to rejoin the group despite searching for them.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Not only did they provide the wrong meetup address, but after racing to the correct location we were informed that they cancelled the tour and we were given no notification. They then told us we had 2 options, book another trip or take the tickets to the colosseum and get a partial refund, but Viator would tell us the amount. It was our last night in Rome and it was an evening tour so we had no other choice but to take the tickets. We did not get to see any of the sites, had no guided tour and walked through the Colosseum ourselves. I reached out to Viator for the refund and I was told it was up to City Wonders (the operator). They kept 55% of the fee, which was never told to us. I would be ok if they charged us the gate price for the tickets (€24 a person) but they screwed is instead and Viator refused to make it better.
I have never been more disappointed in a tour operator and Viator that they treat their customers this way and there is nothing we can do about it. Such a scam that they can cancel without any notice, withhold the refund amount and then screw you out of your money.
The other people who also were cancelled got instant refunds from their booking company, while Viator refused to protect its customers in lieu of the operator.

The tour guide did not show up for work and we were offered full refund or discount rate to go without guide. Could not rebook tour because they needed 3 day advanced booking time. We traveled 12 hrs. to get here so we did the tour on our on without the guide. We will see if we get our discount refunded.
Also, without a guide you really do not learn anything and no where near the experience we hoped for.
The next day, the exact same thing happened at the Vatican

I was sent a text earlier in the day with a link to Apple Maps that sent us to a different location than where we had been emailed on the original booking receipt. We were turned around, got lost, and ended up missing our tour. Upon returning home, I contacted Viator and was told that our tour was nonrefundable.
We ended up buying tickets right at the Colosseum ($39 for two people) and walking around ourselves, which was still pretty cool. I recommend doing that instead.

Horrible service. Never got to take the tour because we never found the guide. Ended up having to pay for regular entrance into the coliseum. They won't give us a refund so we are out $183 plus the extra fee for entrance. First and last time using this service.

Enjoyed the tour. We arrived a bit late for the guided tour but despite the circumstances, the operator/s of the tour still accommodated us. Viator contact center did a marvellous job in helping us. The tour guide was very professional in handling a conflict with another participant/s within the group. (Sorry, forgot the tour guide’s name). Just a shame that we ran out of time at the end of the tour so we did not have enough time to take photos as the colosseum was already escorting people out.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the history of Rome city and the amphitheater aka “Colosseum”. It was a very enjoyable tour. Love the sunsetting views of the colosseum. Wished there was more time to roam and enjoy the shop for souvenirs. (Website is not letting me upload a picture)

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and had great energy. I was very dissatisfied by the tour starting earlier. It was an afternoon tour, not an evening tour. For someone that has already experienced a full tour (lower level to the top level) it was disappointing to not be able to see the grounds during the evening. I would have canceled the tour, but had already made plans around the tour time/s. It was still a nice time and would recommend it to others, just not advertised as an evening tour.
