Don't Get Caught!

This was a complete rip off. My wife and I are out $322 because we were completely lied to. All our written information from this account stated that we would be met at the Caffe Roma by a representative of Italy Roma Tours and I quote "Look for a guide holding a sign matching your voucher for a smooth start to your tour". No guide showed up. A very nice gentleman from Get Italy Tours really helped us. He contacted the original tour guide, a man named Ramy, we booked through and was advised that he had sent us through the tickets to enter, via the internet and that he would not be meeting us. Unfortunately, my wife and I were out sightseeing prior to the tour time of 2:15 and had no internet connection so consequently, we did not receive the tickets. The Gentleman from Get Italy Tours was able to access the tickets for us but then we were informed that without photo identification, we would not be allowed access to the Colosseum. As we do not tour around the city with our passports, even with the tickets, we could not enter the Colosseum. This was also not communicated in the initial brief. My advice, do not trust this tour. There is no personal contact and no fall back when you are out of pocket. I was lead to believe that Viator was a reputable site but when people like this can miss lead the general public to this extent, you still really need to be careful. I really don't know what more we could have done to protect ourselves against this. Don't risk it!
