A great way to explore much of the Amalfi Coast in a day trip. Our guide was extremely friendly, patient and knowledgeable while explaining the history and current attractions of the coast. We visited Salerno, Positano and Amalfi while spotting many small towns from the ferry as well. Highly worth it for your Amalfi Coast trip!

Great day in the water and Amalfi coast!

mmbutcher, Jul 2026
Great day with Mauro as a host. We were left to our own devices once we got to the stops but Mauro was around and available for questions and help if we needed it. Train got held up so we lost about an hour but that is not on the tour operator. I would say that we need more time but happy for the experience I did have. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful, very walkable, up & down inclines, great eating opportunities, guides kept tour very secure.

Melissa_F, Jul 2026
The Amalfi Coast is beautiful and Mauro took excellent care of us! We would have loved a bit more time in Positano, though. That stop was only 45 minutes and felt too rushed. We also weren’t expecting to be taken to one specific restaurant for lunch (cost not included). It ended up being great food; we just weren’t expecting that. Our favorite parts were the ferry rides. The views were stunning, and that’s definitely the way to experience the Amalfi coast rather than fighting traffic!

Be prepared for lots of tourists and heat/humidity

Erik_S, Jul 2026
We have been to Italy many times but have never made it out to the Amalfi Coast. We opted to do this tour rather than rent a car, drive and potentially stay in one of the Amalfi Coast hotels (since we went in the peak of tourist season, we heard many stories about the traffic congestion and parking challenges). We are so glad we opted this way. Our experience was very chaotic because of the many tourists. Also, we prefer not to spend time in tourist traps, we much prefer experiencing travel more like a local. Salerno, Positano and Amalfi are all extremely touristy, very chaotic during the peak time we went at the end of June, and frankly overpriced, because they are tourist destinations. But are we glad we took a day trip to the Amalfi Coast? Absolutely! It was still amazing to see the region we had long heard and wondered about. The towns are scenic, and the ocean blue and beautiful. Just be prepared for the chaos. It also is hot and humid, which is not obvious from pictures (turns out we were there during a heat wave, so almost unbearable). Bottom line, be mentally prepared, stay hydrated, watch for pickpockets, and you will have a fun memorable adventure. Lastly, shout out to Mauro, he is an awesome tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, shares lots of interesting and useful information, and is well connected with the locals. Make sure to ask for a few recommendations, he always seemed to have some regardless of what one might want to do while there. Thank you Mauro for a memorable and safe experience!

This is an all day...

This is an all day excursion from Rome to Salerno (by train) then a ferry to Positano and Amalfi then back to Rome by train. It was outstanding. Our guides, Mauro and Fab, were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We unfortunately had to cut Positano from the itinerary due to a ferry delay but that ended up adding more time in Amalfi which was perfect! We were able to enjoy a great lunch, swim at the public beach (bring swim gear and a towel!), shop, and have the popular limoncello sorbet served in a lemon. I highly recommend this day trip from Rome! Thank you Mauro and Fab!!

Great Guide

The coast was a little disappointing but still pleasant. We have traveled most of the world with many tours. The Guide we had on this tour was the best we have ever had.

Mauro was an absolutely fantastic guide. We loved seeing Positano and Amalfi. Did this on our last day out of Rome and would highly recommend! Beautiful sights and it was so nice being on the ferry seeing the coastline!

Great Guides

Amalfi with a 6 year old

Jessica_W, May 2026
We met a group of 10-12 people at the Termini. A brief train two stops to Solerno, we then ferried to Amalfi. The ride overlooking the coast was exceptional. The tour guides Michael and Suzanne were very receptive and answered any questions we had. We felt well taken care of the entire time. We took many photos from the beach, public square, but especially the highway overlooking the picturesque cliff city. It matches everything we saw in photos. Our little 6 year old got off to a bad start, but the tour guides were very personable, and he and we enjoyed the entire day.

Excursion to Amalfi

Paul_K, May 2026
It was a long day, but overall worth it. Our guide for the day was great and was very informative.we did expect the frecarossa train ,but was booked on the frecargento instead, which is a slower train, which made the day longer than advertised,or that is what we thought.

Great first time Amalfi visit

Jeffrey_R, May 2026
Absolutely beautiful scenery along the Amalfi coast. Italio Tours provided great service from start to finish. Our guide Mauro met us as we got off the train in Salerno and was so helpful and friendly every step of the way. He recommended a fabulous place for us to enjoy lunch in Amalfi. He was an absolutely amazing tour guide!

Amalfi trip was amazing

Courtney_M, Apr 2026
This is a great trip. The ferry is an amazing way to see the coast. The guide had a lot of great info and history about what we were seeing.

the coast

Pamela_R, Apr 2026
The tour gave great instructions. The guide was amazing… it was a long day… i would say better explanation of what you can do in the amalfi coast for 3.5 hours… it was actually too long. the boat ride was really enjoyable.

Great day trip option...

Marcy_A, Apr 2026
Great day trip option when visiting Rome. Our guide was great and it was an easy adventure. Would love to have had a little more time in positano but all around it was a great experience for our whole family!

Would not book if you not from Europe

Amina_R, Mar 2026
The tour guide was nice and very professional but the woman who was meant to help us find the train the train station was absolutely horrible. We walked up and were the second people with people with different train times and she ignored us and told us to wait even when I told her we were going to miss our train. The lady helped all the people who were of European descent first and even helped people who walked up after us before us which the woman she was helped pointed out to which she said “they can wait” the actual travel experience was fine and guide was nice but she ruined the experience for us. 3/5 was me being nice

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Amina, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found the tour guide professional and that you enjoyed the overall travel experience. We would like to clarify, however, that our team is proudly multicultural and we welcome guests from all over the world. We take any concerns about fairness very seriously, and we do not operate with any form of preference or discrimination. At the train station, our staff manage multiple tour departures with different schedules, and guests are assisted based on departure times to ensure no one misses their train. What you experienced may have been a result of this process, rather than any intention to prioritize certain individuals over others. We’re sorry that this situation led to a negative impression, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Your feedback is important to us, and we’re pleased that the rest of your tour went smoothly.

The weather was not so...

Pablo_S, Nov 2025
The weather was not so nice that day, the boat ride to Positano was cancelled and our return boat time from Amalfi had to be anticipated but our guide was flexible to change our return boat trip to a later bus trip so we could enjoy more time in Amalfi

The sea can be a little...

Mary_R, Nov 2025
The sea can be a little choppy but the views are great. Mauro was the BEST tour guide ever!!! Positano and Amalfi are both worth a visit. St Andrew the apostle is buried in the cathedral.

Marlo 5 stars

Marlo was a tremendous tour guide. He was fun and very knowledgeable about the areas we had been in. We would totally recommend this tour and h to friends

Expensive train and ferry rides

Nancy_B, Oct 2025
What let us down was out of the control or the organisers but I think occurs often. Firstly people were late. Obviously can’t read instructions. Then the train was 45 min late leaving. Unreliable. That meant we missed the ferry and our tour was shortened. When the ferry was 10 min from Positano the whole return ferry service was cancelled and we had to board the last return ferry to Amalfi and saw Positano for 15 minutes. All up we spent 3 hrs in Amalfi and hour in total in other towns and the rest of the 13hrs was on trains and ferries. I wouldn’t waste my money on this trip. It was very overpriced for what it is. The guides were lovely therefore the 4 stars and Amalfi was lovely too. I was so excited about this trip but it let us down badly.

Loved Amalfi!

David_M, Oct 2025
The tour was great, but unfortunately the weather was terrible. It rained the entire time and the water was very rough on the ferry ride. Our tour guide did an excellent job despite the bad weather, however. He was very entretaining, and did a fantastic job of making the most of our day. If you can do this for during sunny weather, it's an absolute must-do.

Fun times at the train station

ann_C, Oct 2025
Our guide, Marco was we must run to catch the ferry. I was last because of me not wearing tennis shoes, Dummy on my part. Our guide made sure everyone knew the history of our journey. He made sure we had everyone to board. Our train was cancelled. Our guide solved the problem all alone. We waited 2 hours. The office staff was not available for him. That is awful they leave a guide with 15 people stranded because it doesn't fit their hours of operations. Really disappointed in the company but our guide did all the work on his cell phone and he paid out of his pocket for our newest fare.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Ciao Ann, Thank you for taking your time to share your experience with us and our community, we are happy to hear that our tour guide was such an amazing support for you. On the other hand, we would like to clarify that our backoffice team is active from th beginning of each tour until the very end as we understand perfectly that both guides and customers might need assistance and any inconvenience might happen. This case was not different from the others, as our team was evaluating if the best solution would either booking a bus to Rome or moving you to a later train - kindly note that these situations can take some time as they can be extremely confusing. Evenually, the train company rebooked you for free on another train, so we assure you that the guide did not have to pay anything out of his pocket. We hope that the rets of your trip to Italy was indeed a lovely one Warm regards

Great day in-spite of the weather! Beautiful to see the coast line and visit the towns. More stores than sights to see

The tour is okay nothing...

Surbhi_S, Oct 2025
The tour is okay nothing great .We took the train package to Amalfi positano day trip . Except for the ease of boarding and departure there is nothing major that we could have not done on our own . The drawback in group is that if anyone goes late we have to wait for them and that could mean missing the ferry . We only got 45 mins in positano and 3 hours in Amalfi as we missed the ferry coz the group was slow Don’t fall for the free lemonchello tasting . It’s a place they take you to shop so that the guide could get his cut . Again waste of time in group activity while so much is left to explore . Even the restaurant we went too was suggested by the guide so that everyone could stick together and they charged us a hefty cover charge plus they had to accommodate a group of 16 as a result food was hushed and we didn’t get one of our dish on time . He wanted us to stick together to get free cookies and chocolates tasting ( it’s a trap ) believe me Ditch the guide and explore on ur own. The restaurant had a cut for the guide too . Better view places were available for lunch right on beach And it would have costed cheaper too Ferry costs 55 euros return and train to Salerno if you book early you can get a better rate . Everything is doable on your own plus you can’t get held up coz of the group . The whole point was to maximise the day which I feel could have happened without the package once we can do the booking on our own and explore the place on our own speed Keep a watch on ferry timings as they are on time if you are buying tickets from Salerno. Station to port is 10 mins walk . Once you are on your own you can follow the locals and do what everyone is doing .

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Dear Subhi, Thank you for your feedback. As you booked a group tour, our guides do their best to accommodate everyone so all participants can enjoy the experience. We wish we had been contacted in advance, as we could have arranged a private experience for you. The tour leader suggests local restaurants, but no one is required to follow these tips—you were free to dine elsewhere. We will also relay your concerns to the guide. This tour is designed to avoid long hours in traffic and efficiently combine arrivals with the ferry, which may feel different from other tours. Following locals can help if you are familiar with the area, but it can be challenging for first-time visitors. We appreciate your feedback and hope the rest of your trip was enjoyable.

Beautiful day!

Jennifer_M, Oct 2025
Tour was fantastic! This area is beautiful and I appreciate having a guide to give us some information and to answer questions but then also to allow us to explore on our own. Georgia was an amazing guide and was instrumental in helping get luggage returned that was lost on our flight. She went above and beyond to help.

teresa_k, Sep 2025
Our guides were fantastic, one local and was able to direct us with recommendations once at the destination. Stay on Positano was too brief however, not enough time to do much before it was time to meet and depart.

Amalfi Coast: beautiful

Matthew_R, Sep 2025
Tour was very well planned and run. Meeting at Rome train station was easy and organized and they provided us our tickets. Meeting tour leader in Salerno was equally easy & efficient. Tour guide was informative, personable, and fun to be with. Sites were beautiful and lots of information our different sites in historical and geographic context. Would have liked more time in Positano, but ferry was late (outside control of tour group). Will recommend to friends.

A perfect day trip!

Lynn_R, Sep 2025
We went in early September, met up with a guide at Rome's train station who took us to the platform for our train, and guided us to the train carriage - and when we arrived at Salerno, another guide met us. He walked us to the ferry, recommended we sat on the upper level for the best views, and during the ride he pointed out various sights to see, and their history. The ferry stopped at Amalfi but we didn't get off then - we continued to Positano, where we had an hour to explore and see some sights. We boarded the ferry again and rode back to Amalfi, where again our guide left us to explore on our own, after recommending some not-to-be-missed spots. We had more time for lunch, an unforgettable Sorbetto al Limone, and capturing memories. After the ferry back, he walked us back to the train station, and sat with us until we boarded the high speed train back to Rome. Again, he helped us find the correct carriage. It was a perfect day's trip - although in hindsight, it would've been nice to have a little longer in each town (I heard you can rent a boat to take you to the grottos near Amalfi and Positano), and to have some extra time in Salerno.

Amalfi Coastal Trip
