Excellent half day tour to see major sites in Portland. Great start to get an overview of the city. Tour guide was very knowledgeable.

This is a great little tour of Portland! We got what seemed to be off the beaten path a bit and our tour guide did an excellent job recommending other things to do during the rest of our stay. The only disappointment was that we couldn’t get to the Pittock mansion overlook because he road was closed, but that certainly wasn’t our guide’s fault. (He did his best to get someone to open it. Also, he brought snacks and donuts, so what’s not to like?)

It was a great tour and Elijah was a great tour guide. We were picked up and brought back to our hotel. He did not rush us and even provided a great coffee and snacks for the group.

The half-day Best of Portland trip is well worth the time to get to see many areas and highlights of the city.

Luke is an excellent guide and provided a memorable experience while showing the highlights of Portland.

A great way to learn about the different neighborhoods in Portland. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to spend the time with.

The food was great on the trip from banana nut bread, snacks and donuts but was lacking in information about Portland Oregon. I didn’t learn anything new from taking the trip so I was a little disappointed. The tour guide Elijah was very nice but lacked the knowledge and history about the Portland area.

The Best of Portland City Tour with Evergreen Escapes Portland was a wonderful introduction to the city! Luke, our guide, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional (even with a difficult guest on our small tour!).
Our first stops were a wonderful way to start! The Pittock Mansion grounds were in full bloom and Luke served us hot beverages and delicious, local banana bread. Here’s where he set the stage for the rest of the day and gave us a digestible version of Portland history. Our second stop at the International Rose Test garden. A stunning and fragrant visit. We then ventured through several communities in Portland, including downtown, to learn more about Portland and its culture(s). This was a highpoint for me to learn about the city rather than just visiting a few monuments. Luke topped the tour off with a tasty sample of Portland donuts!
Beyond the tour Luke offered suggestions and recommendations on food and activities outside the tour to help ensure everyone enjoyed their visit to Portland and Oregon more broadly.

Elijah was very informative. Showed us some really cool sights. Definitely worth the time. The weather cooperated, so we could see forever

Luke was great, very informative, friendly. The sites were a good choice for a first impression of Portland.
Bettie_B, Apr 2026
Luke was very accommodating as we changed original plan a bit due to rainy and cold conditions. His alternative idea worked out very well for us. We also found him to be very knowledgeable as well as a good storyteller.
Snacks, tea and coffee were greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend.

Great Tour with Luke. Beautiful views of Portland and a great way to sample some of the diverse neighborhoods Portland offers

I highly recommend this particular tour of Portland. It was so much more than just sitting in a van and listening to the guide. With this tour, we had fun experiences such as an outdoor breakfast at the Pittock Mansion overlooking the Portland skyline, a relaxing walk through the beautiful Rose Test Garden, a stroll through Mt. Tabor Park, an iconic doughnut that we picked out from Blue Star, and also informed and interesting narrative from our excellent and kind guide, Luke.

Luke was very informative about the City of Portland and taking us to great viewing areas. It was a nice touch that he had water and snacks that we could enjoy anytime during the tour besides coffee/tea/hot chocolate and banana bread to enjoy at our first stop.

Interesting insight into the localities and parks of Portland. Can use this as a guide to take a closer look at some areas later on.
Our guide Graciela was highly informed, cheerful, helpful and a great plus for the tour.
Recommend to all ...

This was a great tour! Luke was an amazing guide. He knew all about the city, answered all of our questions and was very personable. Luckily for us, we were the only 2 on his tour so we had his undivided attention the entire time. That gave us the opportunity to ask as much as we wanted about the city and at the same time was able to get to know him a bit.
The tour was well planned and covered much of the city. Beautiful lookout points as well. He even had coffee and snacks for us at the first stop and donuts at the last stop...
I would absolutely recommend Evergreen Escapes for a Portland tour and make sure you ask for Luke!

My adult daughter and I took this tour with Luke. He made our tour wonderful. So informative. We saw lovely views, took great pics, learned a lot. We felt cared for and had a blast!

Luke was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained the whole trip. He gave us all the inside scoop. We had plenty of time for each stop.
Thanks Luke. We love Viator.

This tour is a great one to take if you’ve never been to Portland. Our guide, Luke, was very friendly, and knowledgeable. He provided morning snacks in a unique way and accommodated all of us on the tour with individual requests for picking up/ dropping off. It was a most interesting tour that I highly recommend.

Friendly, knowledgable tour guide who gave us opportunity to stop and walk around at a few sites. Roomy transportation with large windows. Thank you.

This was a great way to spend a few hours getting a great overview of Portland. Our tour guide was informative and entertaining. Would recommend taking this tour if this is your first time visiting Portland.

The tour was excellent covering the major parts/attractions of the City of Portland, OR.
The Guide/Driver was outstanding in his knowledge and presentation!

We had a limited time in Portland but wanted to see the city and learn something about its history and everyday life. This tour is perfect to achieve just that. Our driver and tour guide Bob was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of funny and entertaining facts about Portland, its past and present, its culture and food scene. The day happened to be rainy, but we stayed warm and dry in the Mercedes mini-van while traversing all six (yes, six, not four!) quadrants of Portland.
The only minor discrepancy between the tour description and the real thing was that they promised some sort of breakfast on the go, but in reality, Bob treated us with some local gourmet doughnuts, which was certainly very nice, but I wouldn't count it as breakfast. So, my advice to fellow travelers is to make sure you have your breakfast before the tour or bring your own snacks. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience and a good way to "meet" a new city.

This is the perfect half day tour for getting an overview of Portland. There were only 6 of us and everyone was in a great mood. Enhancing our mood was our fabulous driver and guide Bree. There were several places I went back to during my stay in Portland just to take in a little more i.e. Powell's Book Store. I highly recommend this tour!
Vad_A, Jun 2019
Nice, small group excursion. Drove through major parts of the city. The guide was nice and knowledgeable. I wish more factual data about Portland was provided (population, trends, economy etc.)
Frankie_D, Jun 2019
While the pickup was right on time, the car was dirty, especially the windows. The tour guide was from Portland but provided limited information on the history of the State; or info on Portland was founded. The driving was not good. Four times she almost hit pedestrians and then apologized in the car. The neighborhoods we visited were interesting. Stopped at Pittock Mansion but didn't go into house, which was unfortunate. Did get time at Rose Garden, thankfully. Offered water but not bottled, reusable canisters. No way to know if sterilized after previous use. Didn't feel like a professional tour; overpriced for what was given.
Response from Host, Jun 2019
We're sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations. It's true that we visit the grounds of the Pittock Mansion but not the house itself (it's closed at the time that we're in the park). As an orientation to the city, we hope we can introduce you to neighborhoods and attractions to which you might want to return, and this is a perfect example.
I do need to address one point that you've made specifically: for years, to avoid piling up plastic bottles, we have utilized reusable stainless steel water bottles on tour. They are sanitized and washed in a commercial dishwasher after every tour. To decrease our environmental footprint, we also do not wash our vans every day, and even announce that fact with stickers inside the van, BUT, our guides should be dusting the windows before tours, and we'll make sure that is reiterated!
Thanks for your comments, and we hope for the opportunity to serve you better in the future, whether in Portland or at our northern Base Camp in Seattle.
Best,
Jeff

Yes we got an excellent overview of Portland, it's various communities and a bit of history, and yes I enjoyed the Blue Star Donuts and the walk down Mississippi street, the views from Pittock Mansion and Mt Tabor. What I appreciated the most was Brie's straightforwardly addressing the lack of diversity in Portland and how the African American Community was displaced to build the arena/auditorium. I also appreciated her truth speaking about the white supremacists in Portland and how Portland is working to address this issue. In my visits to cities and countries all over the world, too often the folks/tour operators are too careful about discussing issues that could potentially be controversial but are still of historical significance to the area/city. Thank you for the breath of fresh air!

I'm very happy that I chose this tour. It was a great way to preview the city sights and attractions, including the 5th quadrant! The tour guide, Paul, was very knowledgeable and and offered personal insights through conversation that would probably not happen if not for the small group. This is a perfect introduction to the city and helped me decide which sites I wanted to spend more time visiting later. It would also be great if you have only a short period of time to see the city.
