Decent but worth it

Byrone_B, May 2026
My experience was decent. The reason is that I visited the Devil’s Throat at Iguazú Falls in Argentina. After you experience a waterfall like the Devil’s Throat, most waterfalls don’t compare. However, Carrie was a great tour guide. She was knowledgeable. easy to talk to and offered recommendations for activities to experience Portland's culture, which I appreciated. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water when you hike to the waterfalls because you may get winded. The Tour also included free bottles of water and snacks, just in case you forget your own. All in all. I will recommend this Tour because you get to meet great like-minded people. I met people from Qatar to New York City. Everyone bonded over our affinity for Mother Nature’s treasures.

Hike and bike tour

Great experience and fun. Know that you must be somewhat fit as the cold and altitude can play a role in biking. Although the team was super accommodating and had back up plans. They were very knowledgeable on the plants in the region and some background info. They provided light snacks and even went extra time which was nice. Biking at times uphill was a challenge and not for the faint of heart. It would have been nice if they would have taken some pictures for us to keep of us riding the bikes and with the falls in the background etc but they did so if we asked. For those that are not from the area a quick update as to how cold it gets in the falls would have also helped to dress more appropriately beforehand. Otherwise it was very fun' we got to see the beautiful falls and see all of the views! The building was hard to find and we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere in the morning as it was very quiet and filled with factory like buildings but we called them and eventually found our way. They started a bit late so we waited for a bit but got moving quickly. It's right across a beer tap just FYI. Thanks for a great morning/afternoon! Definitely would recommend... with proper winter attire for those that get cold :)

Great Experience!

The tour was great! The guide was fantastic and the views, unbelievable. Would highly recommend. A good blend of guided tour and autonomy.

Great time!

Sara_M, Sep 2025
Angela was an amazing guide! I loved learning about the different plants she spotted along the hikes, and the history of the area. The bike ride was challenging enough to be interesting but still a lot of fun! Riding your bike along the Columbia gourge should be on your bucket list if it isn't already. Angela did a great job making sure I felt comfortable on the bike and matched my pace so I didn't feel like I was slowing things down. If you have a chance to take this tour, do it, you won't regret it!

Highly recommend!

This was a great way to get an intro to what the Columbia River Gorge has to offer. Our only complaint was that we had to leave lol. The biking portions were mostly easy and the hiking was very easy. The waterfalls are beautiful and Angela had so much knowledge and made everything fun! We parked in a paid lot a couple blocks from the shop and it was $15. We definitely want to go back on our own time and hike to the top of some of the larger falls.

This was a tremendous experience! I loved all the local and historical information on the drive to and from as well as the ride. Our guides, Angela & Sara, were so helpful and delightful! They showed respect for each individual. I loved tasting wild berries.

Love it

Nicole_B, Feb 2025
Our tour guides were amazing and extremely informative. They pointed out specific plants and recommended places to check out in Portland as well.

Angela was a great guide, lots of energy and very knowledgeable. She was also very patient when I needed more time to finish each stop. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend her to other people visiting PDX!

Thanks Angela!

The tour was awesome and the tour guide was amazing! I absolutely loved her. I would highly recommend.

An adventure not to be missed!

Meredeth_A, Aug 2024
Our bike through Columbia River Gorge was the highlight of our trip to Oregon!! Angela was an amazing tour guide - so informative throughout the drive as well as the hike. She even led us to some fabulous wild blackberries along the way!! All four of us are casual bikers for the most part, and while parts are challenging, the ride was totally doable and even more so enjoyable. When my twelve year old had had enough climbs on the bike for the day, he was able to ride along in the support van and still join us for the hikes. All in all an absolutely magnificent way to explore this part of nature’s bounty!!

More Walk, Less Woke.

Patrick_G, Aug 2024
Clearly seeing the Falls were the highlight. Omitting walk to top of Latourell and Multnomah Falls disappointing. If too much is being crammed in, the skip the blueberry farm and Vista House and stick to just the Falls. Also, the guide should leave her "woke" commentary at home. Did not sign-up for a White Man bashing.

Response from Host, Aug 2024

Hi Patrick! Our tour never goes to the top of Multnomah Falls, as it is over an hour of hiking for a parking lot view, and we skip the steeper hikes to the top of Latourell Falls on days above 90 degrees. 15,000 years of history of Indigenous people was wiped out by the destructive forces of colonialism and 98.7% of productive old growth forests have been cut down in North America, leading to the climate crisis that kept us from taking you to the top of that waterfall. We will keep mentioning this.

Spectacular trip!

William_S, Aug 2024
The views were spectacular!! We got up close and personal to the waterfalls that we wanted to see on this trip!! Great time!!

Great day I

owen_f, Aug 2024
So glad I decided to get off the Amtrak train and visit Portland. Cycling was the best way to see this small but beautiful part of the Columbia George. Angela our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about Portland and Oregon. This made it a wonderful day.

Wonderful morning

Laurel_S, Jul 2024
The hike/bike experience is a great way to spend a morning if you want to get out of Portland for a bit. The scenery is gorgeous and learning about the history of the area is a bonus. Angela was a super tour guide. The hike and bike is not strenuous at all so if you are looking for an activity to make you sweat- this is not for you! The cherry on top was arriving back at the shop and being able to walk a few blocks to food trucks for lunch.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Hi Laurel! I’m glad you enjoyed the tour — you must be in amazing shape! In all our many thousands of guests on this tour this is the first time anyone has said they didn’t break a sweat! Well done! For those who are in fair to moderate shape, you may experience this tour as fairly exerting — for those who are more triathlete level, you might think about our much longer and more strenuous Full Day Columbia Gorge scenic bikeway tour.

Amazing, fun, gorgeous views!

Chris_G, Jul 2024
We had the best time, the view of the gorge as you bike through it is truly gorgeous. Angela was the most wonderful guide, she made sure we were all comfortable with our bikes, kept us safe, and provided interesting historical information. My husband, son and I loved this tour. It was fun.

Relaxing ride in the mountains

Edward_S, Jul 2024
We rode about 7 miles and hiked under 2 miles… I wish we could have done more… but overall it was fun.. we saw some great waterfalls and took some great photos.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

We always wish we could do more, too! Keeping the itinerary within five hours is sometimes a struggle :) our full-day Columbia Gorge scenic bikeway ride is a nice extension with 40+ miles of riding! Next time!

Perfect!

Joni_S, Jul 2024
Sarah was an excellent guide, providing us with tidbits of Portland and Columbia River information. They take time to fit you with the right bike and helmet. The hikes were beautiful with the gorgeous waterfalls and biking was safe and very well organized. Do this tour if you're in Portland!

Best day ever!

Chastity_L, Jul 2024
This trip was the best! The guide was knowledgeable, professional and fun! We felt safe the entire time, even though you do ride on the open road. The stops were so picturesque. I can not say enough. The group was small and we met great people.

Gorge Adventure

Carin_V, Jul 2024
Angela was a great guide, knowledgeable and easy going. Waterfalls were beautiful, the cycling was fun. Wasn’t super strenuous but not a cake walk either. Wonderful way to see the sights!

Fun tour

Luisa_B, Jul 2024
Lovely bike ride to see some waterfalls! Angela was a great guide. Really enjoyed the first couple of stops especially before the rest of the tourists were up and about.

Fun!

Philip_L, Jul 2024
The scenery was beautiful, and we learned some new fun facts about Portland. Everything went smoothly. Highly recommend.

Great tour

Mark_A, Jul 2024
Great tour, fun, scenic, relatively quick bus ride, guides did great job. Hikes were quick and relatively easy, but more than strolls or scenic walks.

Great local shop , beautiful ride

Jenna_H, Jun 2024
Great quality bikes, local shop, tour guides knowledgeable of history and politics. We left a bit late so that affected some of the planned activities.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Hi Jenna! It was truly a pleasure having you and your child along! We're sorry about the departure time -- we usually don't schedule this tour on Saturday afternoons in the summer because it is usually almost impossible to leave promptly. However, please be assured that we did not skip anything! The length of hikes will be less on warmer days but we make sure never to skimp on the number of waterfalls or the opportunity to ride your bike :)

Fun and memorable

Najiah_R, Jun 2024
Super fun to bike and hike. Was also a great workout but a great way to soak in the nature and atmosphere. Much more memorable than driving to each spot. Would recommend!
