Itinerary

Meet your group and guide for this 1.5-hour walking tour at Reverend Zombie’s House of Voodoo on St. Peter Street in New Orleans. Your tour takes off at about 7:30pm, so make sure to show up 20 minutes before that time — at 7:10pm.

This tour is offered Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but the content on this tour isn’t recommended for younger children. Because of its content (and the fact that it goes on during the evening), it might be too scary for really young ones.

Get ready to gain a better understanding for New Orleans voodoo — aside from the Hollywood myths and stigma surrounding the Louisiana-born religion. As you follow your guide around the city, listen to stories of Old New Orleans, how voodoo came about, and how much is still practiced today. Stop and visit real voodoo alters, as well as important places associated with New Orleans voodoo culture.

Very interesting tour....

Barbara_H, Dec 2025
Very interesting tour. Didn’t know much about Voodoo before the tour. Juliet our guide was very knowledgeable and lovely. I learned a lot about how the religion developed in the melting pot of cultures in New Orleans etc. It really is a lecture. Exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend taking the tour early in your stay as there are so many things to look out for now with the added knowledge.

learn the history of voodoo in New Orleans

Denise_G, Sep 2025
Our tour guide was very eloquent and knowledgeable - this is not a shock horror scary tour but one that informs about the voodoo practices ad its history

The tour was very informative, full of historical facts and a few legends. Our guide was knowledgeable but also animated and interesting. We all loved it, even my kids who are in their 20’s. If you like history, this is a tour for you.

It was an average tour. Nothing spectacular. It wasn't exciting or scary even though it was an adult only tour; I'm not sure why.

perfect mix

My tour guide (Chrissy) I think was wonderful. Prefect mix of educational and silly!! Will definitely have to bring my friends

Wish we could have had tour with Brie

Larry_C, May 2023
We read reviews about the tours taken with Brie and thought they sounded like fun. But unfortunately we got some guy who started off telling us he looked like Howard Stern and Johnny Depp. There were alot of bad "dad" jokes and the information he gave about voodoo wasn't very clear. The only thing we learned about it was that "Hollywood gets it wrong". We walked away from the tour after 45 minutes when we saw others walk away, as we weren't sure how to leave it. Not worth the $60, but live and learn.

Response from Host, May 2023

Thank you for your review. However...Are you sure that you booked your tour with OUR company? We don't have any tour guides who resemble Howard Stern OR Johnny Depp. If you remember the name of your guide, please contact me directly because the description of everything you stated including the info doesn't sound like ANYONE associated with Haunted History Tours.

Bri was a very informative guide who explained the history of voodoo clearly, telling stories that kept us all engaged while also piping in humor. Truly enjoyed the tour!

Not worth the money

Gina_A, Nov 2022
Too much standing and not enough exploring. I thought is would be much more seeing spots where voodoo happened. Houses ect. Loved the tour guide she was very nice but I wouldn't recommend this tour if your looking to really have fun going to historic voodoo spots

Response from Host, Nov 2022

Thank you for your review. The Voodoo Tour is a very academic tour on the RELIGION of Voodoo. It discusses the origins of Voodoo, how it came to New Orleans, how it is practiced, etc. A more 'fun' tour selection might have been the Ghost or Vampire Tours.

Very Dissatisfying

Julie_P, Nov 2022
When it was over. We felt this tour was nothing it was advertised to be. Very boring and we really were not even made aware of what we were looking at.

Response from Host, Nov 2022

Thank you for your review. The Voodoo Tour is definitely more of an 'academic' tour, which is why you may have felt it was 'boring'. We advertise the Voodoo Tour to as one to educate you on the religion of Voodoo, how it came to New Orleans, how it is practiced, etc. If you would like, feel free to contact me directly and I will send you a complimentary copy of our bestselling book, 'New Orleans Ghosts, Voodoo, & Vampires.'

Great tour

Amy_W, Oct 2022
Great tour- highly recommend! Tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining! Good info given! Learned a lot about voodoo

Very Disappointing Tour

Larry_H, Oct 2022
The worst tour we’ve ever been on. We didn’t learn anything. The guide, Toast, talked too fast and didn’t give us any useful information. He went off on weird tangents. We were very disappointed. We thought we’d learn something about voodoo and we learned nothing.

Great Voodoo 101 Tour

Kenya_H, Nov 2021
This was a great Voodoo 101 informational tour. Brie was awesome and made the tour more exciting by incorporating her friends and family experiences with voodoo. I would recommend this tour.
