Itinerary
Meet your certified New Orleans guide in the heart of the French Quarter and make your way through the historic neighborhood on foot.
With historical ties to Voodoo, or Voudou, in New Orleans, your guide shares insider knowledge of this folk religion that mixes African- and Haitian-based magical elements with Catholic rites. En route, stop by the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum and browse for potions and protection spells at Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo.
You'll also stop at a Voodoo temple and hear the history of Congo Square. No family in history had a greater impact on Voodoo than the Laveau family, and no place in the world had a greater impact on Jazz than Congo Square.

Scott was very knowledgeable and informative. You could tell he loved his job. He made a point of stopping in shady spots to tell us his stories.
Kari_M, Mar 2026
There is walking and stopping but very level. Our guide was amazing at pacing the group so all we're comfortable with the pace. Our guide, John, was very engaging and knowledgeable.

The ‘guide’ DJ was so rude from the very start that my wife - who has been looking forward to this immensely- who was the recipient of the rudeness decided, felt if we continued with this man there would be assault charges.
Donald_N, Feb 2026
Scott was a great guide and shared all kinds of interesting information about New Orleans history and the voodoo practice. Very entertaining and fun.
Sarah_N, Dec 2025
Scott was an excellent tour guide: friendly, informative and interesting. We had a great time learning about the history of voodoo in New Orleans! We would highly recommend him and this tour!

Gomez was a great guide and did a great job weaving the history of the founding of New Orleans into how Voodoo was created and the impact in the area as well. This tour is perfect for kids that are interested in history and not sensitive to and spooky content and going into a Vooddoo shop. And content that discusses the truth behind the slave trade and some of the brutality of it. Important to
Learn in my opinion. What age that is different for each child.
Pamela_K, Dec 2025
This was not a spooky, dark tour. It was an illumination of what voodoo is - and isn't. Marie Laveau and her daughter (also Marie Laveau) probably changed New Orleans history and this tour was a really interesting and engaging way to learn how they did that. Thanks, Gomez!! (But, seriously, be prepared for that 2nd Line experience 😄😄😄)

D.J. was a great guide. He's very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. He was very encouraging of questions and spoke loud enough we could hear him in the back. Highly recommend.

Wes was great, so knowledgeable and respectful of the culture. Learned and laughed a lot! Highly recommend

From start to finish I loved this tour. John is absoutley wonderful. I wish this was my first tour here cos I would have cancelled all the others and only used him. Seriously, book all your tours you can through him. His knowledge and research was impecable, his communicaton is brilliant. I learnt so much about the history of voodoo and not just the touristy bits other tours do, I feel I really understand it now and that's all thanks to John. I highly recommened him, honestly, I can't praise him enough, it was the best tour I've ever been on, really made a mark on my trip to New Orleans. A**

Very entertaining, informative, and all round great. Probably the best tour we did this year much less this city.

It is informative and unique. Orion had a great personality and was very knowledgeable. He made an effort to find a shade for us to stop in when he talked to us. We could have listened to him all day.
Sharon_I, Oct 2025
our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of vodoo and New Orleans. He was very entertaining. We had an awesome tour. The memories we take home!

Had a great time with Orion, who knows his stuff and is a great storyteller! Fun way to see the city from a different angle.

A primary objective my wife and I had for taking this tour was to learn about Voodoo and what it is and is not. Our guide Gomez met and exceeded this objective. We learned what Voodoo dolls are all about and the different nuances of Voodoo in New Orleans. Although the tour was well worth our time, our guide Gomez surprised us all with a treat that made this tour our favorite tour during our trip to New Orleans. I won't say what the surprise was in case any travelers are lucky enough to get Gomez as your guide, but it was fantastic!
Hipolito_L, Mar 2025
Gomez was extremely knowledgeable about not only the history behind voodoo, but New Orleans history in general. He was very informed, welcomed questions, and made the tour a lot of fun while teaching us. He ended the tour with us doing a "second line." This was so informative and fun, I would do it again!
Rida_H, Mar 2025
Gomez was such a fun and quirky guide to have, his singing and playing music definitely showed his appreciation for music as a part of new orleans history and culture and how music, nature, and connectedness are central themes to voodoo
Cassandra_H, Feb 2025
Orion is a fantastic guide who speaks with such reverence and passion for the city of New Orleans, the history of voodoo, and the socioeconomic impacts it had on both the city itself and the development of the music that they are so well known for. The respect that he extends to both the black community, music, voodoo and religious practice, and Marie Laveau herself really shines through his words and gave both my mother and I such a profound appreciation for the culture that we didn’t expect. Not only has it encouraged us to learn further on our own, but it has also opened so many doors for us to explore the beautiful culture New Orleans has to offer in an unexpected way.
Would absolutely love to experience this again.

Gomez was a superb and fun guide. Great style and storyteller and offered some superb local insights. Totally worth it.

The meeting point leads to almost the right spot on Google maps but not quite. It would have been nice for extra guidance in the getting there in the description. The your guide did call though and helped us locate the right place to be.
Learned a lot on the tour about history and architecture and voodoo. I think we were expecting a bit more voodoo though. I appreciate how much the tour guide engaged with the group, asking us questions and encouraging us to ask questions as well.
Tammy_D, Nov 2024
Orion was a wonderful tour guide who knew so much history and about the culture of New Orleans. He has a wonderful presence and wove in pop culture to make the detailed info relatable and fun. He has highly researched the information he shared to make sure it was an accurate representation. He was kind enough to find spots on the tour where we could sit for a moment because I have a bad back.
Athena_F, Nov 2024
We had an excellent tour with Orion. So much history and learning about voodoo. This was one of the best tours we have ever been on in all our travels. Highly recommend and to take it with Orion
Laura_H, Sep 2024
Guide decided not to show up. Left after waiting 15 mins as lunch reservations at 1. Contacted tour operator requesting refund. Received canned reply of "thank you for participating..."
If you do use this to company, request anything led by Raffle. He was kind, knowledgeable, Professional. We did walking ghost tour with him that evening.
Katie_R, Sep 2024
This was a fantastic tour. It was pouring the whole time, but that didn't stop the guide from giving a great tour. I realized immediately that I knew nothing about Voodoo. I'm so happy to have learned what it actually is and have a better understanding of the city. I'd recommend this tour.
Terrell_D, Jul 2024
Gomez was very informative and engaging. Although it was very hot we really enjoyed learning about the history of the city.
Melissa_W, Jun 2024
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating (we had someone in a wheelchair and a service dog also). He always made sure we were close enough to be able to hear what he was saying. He told all the different stories very well and was able to bring out the NOLA history and culture to us. The only thing wrong with the tour wasn’t anything about the tour, it was about the road and sidewalks. They were difficult to traverse at times with a manual wheelchair.

Our tour guide Wes was great. We learned a lot about the history of VooDoo. Wes took the time to answer questions and even gave us some insider tips on where to go for lunch.
