Very comfortable ride despite Louisiana’s inconsistent road infrastructure. Van was air conditioned and comfortable; Edward our driver was extremely knowledgeable and gave a great tour on the ride to and from the plantation. He was also a very safe driver. The Laura Plantation is beautiful and the tour guide was also very knowledgeable and covered all the good and bad parts of the plantation history. I appreciate that the plantation doesn’t focus as much on the buildings or preserved artifacts but more of the people who lived there and how the changing political climate affected them. We finished the entire tour in about 70 minutes and it felt sufficient. The tour guide always had us in the shade or in cooler rooms which was a huge plus. Overall, excellent experience for a very unique property. Husband and I were very happy with our experience. The tour company accommodated us despite signing up very last minute.

    Great tour

Beautiful plantation. Guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the original owners of the plantation as well as the history of the enslaved at the property. Would recommend tour for older people like myself. Not too much walking and places to sit during the tour.

They did not show up. Waited 45 minutes no response or communication with the guide. Contacted vivator requesting a refund. Waiting.

    Informative and helpful

This was a good tour around the plantation. The guide was very informative and very helpful. She knew a lot and was a bit of a historian. But she told us about the family and about the slaves. Definitely worth knowing abit of history of days gone by.

    Laura Plantation experience

The tour itself was a bit rushed (the bus arrived slightly late and the tour started without us) The bus driver seemed to be very knowledgeable but unfortunately we couldn’t understand much as the mic system was bad and/or he held it too close to his mouth. The bus needs work on the suspension as it was loud and we were jostled around quite a bit.

    Loved it!

    A Most Interesting Trip!

This four-hour trip is very interesting and thought provoking. The two-hour tour is about equally split between the plantation mansion and the slavery exhibits. The mansion is very well-preserved, and our guide was able to paint a very clear portrait of the comforts of life in the plantation house. The second half of the tour clearly contrasted the life that the slaves lived as opposed to the landowners. Our guide was to contrast the two different experiences with stories and anecdotes about how different life was.

On y parle peu d’esclavage. Wintney’s plantation aborde plus le thème de l’esclavage.
