One of the highlights of our trip. We love cooking, eating and good wine - loved hearing the history of Portugal food culture, doing some recipes as a group, and learning aome about Portuguese wines. This is such an intimidate experience - in chef Ze's house. What an awesome experience and highly recommended.

We had an incredible evening with Jose at his flat. The food was amazing, he taught us about balancing flavors and using techniques to enhance the dish and also offered valuable insight into Portuguese history and culture. The wine pairings were also excellent and he explained where the wines came from and why he paired them with the food. One of the highlights of our trip!

A great evening together of cooking, eating, drinking very nice wines and sharing life stories in a truly charming setting. It was all we expected and more! The Bras Cod was fabulous and spoiled us for our other experiences with this new found favorite as no one else could match Ze's version and we all look forward to making it (and eating it again). But the very simple Portuguese kidney bean salad was also a surprise hit of wonderful flavors, as was the delicious clam dish. Ze is a wonderful host, with a zest for life and for food and wine and there was not a quiet moment all night. And, although scheduled for 3 hours we were entertained for closer to four hours (or a little more). A wonderful evening!

Zé was a fabulous host and teacher. We not only ate delicious food and drank good wine, we learned about Portugal’s cultural cuisines, etiquette, food history and more. The cooking class was in his private home, so it was truly special.

We had a great time at this cozy home cooking class. The appetizers were out of this world and the food that we cooked was well selected and delicious. We topped off the evening with four great desserts. The first one we ate and the next three we drank. Great time!

The total experience was memorable! Chef Jose was very knowledgeable about Portuguese history, culture and traditions. The food we prepared was not only delicious but representative of the country and he immersed us in hands-on experience that was totally fun! This was an amazing experience that true foodies should do if you want to experience Portugal at its best. Zé is an awesome host and made the evening a wonderful event that we will not forget. Meeting Ze and learning why he cooks. Learning simple authentic meals. The wines were amazing. Ze was very knowledgeable about Portuguese history and foods. He was open about his philosophy of cooking, and sharing some tips.He was also very warm and welcoming and made us feel like family.

Chef Z provided much more than a cooking experience. He immersed us into the Portuguese culture through historical facts, wine from different regions in Portugal, and delicious recipes that you're capable of replicating at home. He welcomed us into his home with open arms and provided a fun environment to mingle with the fellow guests. It was our favorite part of the trip and an experience we will never forget. If I ever go back to Portugal I would definitely sign up for this again.

Chez Esteves is a hidden gem in Lisbon!! That you can not miss on your next trip to Portugal. Ze gave us a warm welcome and opened his home to this wonderful experience. He greeted us with a nice table set with wine and a delicious variety of regional cheeses and “chorizo”. We felt that we came to visit a great friend. He kept us engaged in Portugal history, traditions and above all a delicious menu. He took the time to teach us chopping techniques and safety!! From the appetizers Bulhao Pato Clams to the Fish Roes salad and the main course Bras Cod Fish. Everything was delicious!!! I could give him 10 stars if we had the ratings available. You can’t go wrong selecting Chez Esteves for your next food experience in Lisbon! Excellent, Perfect and above all delicious!

Our chef, Zé was a great host and made us feel at home in his home. He had a couple starters already prepared and three Portuguese dishes ready for us to help cook. The food was great and Zé provided the recipes to take home, including suggestions for substitutions. He is very passionate about cooking and gave us an overview of Portugal and how the different regions relate to the food and wine. We ended with dessert and a nice Port. We had a lot of fun, and by the time we left it felt like we had spent the evening with a friend. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn’t want to just eat local foods, but would like to learn how to cook them from a great local chef.
