Jose is an exceptional guide, with outstanding knowledge and historical perspectives. Personable, and when he senses lightens the moment . We were hit with drenching downpour and he was flexible and helpful throughout our all day Pvt. Tour.

Like a tour with a good friend

Jose is an outstanding guide. Knowledgable, friendly, funny, and most of all flexible and helpful. This was a private all day tour, and he was able to improvise and provide us with the tour we wanted. He also appeared to know everyone and was well liked. For example, when it started to rain, he was able to secure a beautiful table inside a crowded restaurant because he knew the owner. He showed us current real estate developments off the traditional sightseeing tours. He explained history and culture in a fun way. His pride in, and enthusiasm for, what he does made the day special. By the end of the tour, I felt like we had seen Sintra with a friend who lives there and was excited to show us around.

Our guide Karina was just a delightful young woman. It was raining most of the day and she made sure we went to the monuments at our pace with the weather always a primary consideration. We are 4 seniors and visiting the monuments is a real big challenge as the terrain can be unforgiving. Make sure to take the mini bus going up and down from Pena Palace, though there is a fee, it is worth it. We had a lovely visit to the National Palace then off to lunch. We then headed for Regaleria Gardens and finally the Moorish Castle (fortress) that will just take your breath away with the majestic views. Sintra is just beautiful and how I wish I was younger as walking up and down at a certain age is really daunting. Obrigado Karina for taking good care of us :-)

Hassle-free way to see magical Sintra

Sintra is a very unique and mystical place. It was so much more relaxing and informative with a driver / guide. Ours (Josè) was knowledgeable, courteous, and went above and beyond to treat us to a great day. All tickets paid by the tour operator and included in the price. Check your options carefully for Sintra tours - this one was for a full day, customized to our group’s preferences and timetable, with a private guide, tickets included, and was a very good value. We saw the Moorish castle, Pena, the Town Palace in the center of Sintra (the most historically important), and the Quinta da Regeilera, and couldn’t have done it all without a guide zipping us from place to place. Great day.

We enjoyed our visit to Sintra with our knowledgeable and helpful guide José. He put his whole personality into explaining to us not only the sites but the larger history of Portugal and Lisbon. We especially found fascinating the Palació National in Sintra.

I took this tour with a small group of friends in September 2017 and I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. For one, we felt that we received great value with this tour...we were able to see so much of Sintra with a private guide and transportation for a very reasonable price. Our tour guide, Jose Ribeiro, was phenomenal and made the experience even more enjoyable. Because the tour was private, he was able to tailor the experience to meet our preferences. At no point did we feel rushed or forced to stay at a monument longer than we wanted to. Jose gave us enough time and space to view each of the monuments at our pace but was always happy to answer any of our questions. Additionally, he was very funny and incredibly knowledgeable about the monuments and their role in the history of Portugal. Overall, I cannot recommend this tour and Jose! highly enough.
