Overview
For many, Alaska is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—and so is this. You’ll start on the water in a heated vessel, cruising for sneak peeks at whales, eagles, and seals. You’ll land in a remote corner of the Tongass National Forest, where a boardwalk floats you above the mossy floor. When you’re finished exploring, you'll head to the onsite lodge for an Alaskan seafood boil, all your senses in extravaganza mode.

Ward Cove ships: Meet your guide at the Ward Cove Welcome Center 15 minutes before departure. Tour departs from Ward Cove. IF YOU CHOOSE TO SHUTTLE DOWNTOWN YOU WILL MISS YOUR TOUR. All downtown ships meet at “The Rock” statue next to the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau, 15 minutes prior to departure.

Even though the day was not beautiful, this tour was very well worth it. The scenery was wonderful and informative. The visit to Grant Island and the Silver King Fishing Lodge with the crab feast were phenomenal. We totally enjoyed it. Also is not too far to get to the boat ride from Downtown Ketchikan.

Emerson our guide and Paul the Captain were very nice. The walk through the Rain Forest was very enjoyable. The feast was just right for the amount of people at each table and the staff there were great! Wish there was a little more exploring with the boat would be my only slight criticism, but would recommend for those looking to keep under 4.5 hours.

I would highly recommend this excursion. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and had great insight for places to visit in the area! The lodge and the food was amazing, I would highly recommend this experience!

Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. She’s a local who knows a lot of the history of the surrounding area. She answered many questions and made us feel at home! The food was well prepared and delicious! I would definitely recommend this tour!

Wonderful speedboat ride out to the lodge — we even spotted a humpback whale on the way. Our guide, Matt, tossed a few frozen fish near the boat at one stop, and several eagles swooped down to grab them right off the water. Such a cool moment.
Lunch was fantastic. You sit around a big round table while they pour out a huge bucket of steamed crab, potatoes, sausage, garlic, and mussels, all ready to enjoy with melted butter. It’s messy in the best possible way.
The trip also includes a short hike through one of the lushest, most vibrant northern rainforests you can imagine.
Overall, we absolutely loved the experience.

This excursion was a delightful surprise. I loved watching the eagles feast on the fish right before our eyes. The tour guide was super friendly and funny. The staff went above and beyond to help accommodate my elderly in-laws, they took such great care of them/us. The sea food boil was PHENOMENAL!! SO TASTY!! I highly recommend this gem of a tour. Our tour guide was friendly and did a good job with his presentation, however, the seafood lunch was just okay, and the tour itself was overpriced for what you actually got to see and do.

Great experience. Jane was our guide and Trevin was our captain. Both were great. Saw a lot of eagles and harbor seals. Landed for lunch and did a short walk where Jane pointed out some highlights of the Tongrass rainforest climate and growth. Food was delicious. Goog times.

Such a fun experience! We were able to see quite a bit of wildlife on the boat ride, and Emerson, our tour guide, made the experience even more enjoyable!
The hike through the woods was at an easy pace and people have all ages seem to handle it just fine.
The seafood feast was delicious, and took place in the most beautiful setting.
My group highly recommends!

What an amazing experience! We took a 20-25 minute boat ride around the island, and watching them feed the bald eagles fish right from the boat was incredible — getting to see them swoop down up close was unforgettable. The seafood boil afterward was the perfect way to cap it off — fresh, delicious, and plenty of it. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone visiting Alaska!

First off, our guide Jane was wonderful! Informative and funny. Both of our bus drivers were also wonderful carrying on with lots of humor and information. The seafood boil was fabulous. More than any of us could eat.

We had an incredible time on this excursion and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ketchikan!
Lecia picked us up and drove us to Clover Pass Resort. She was warm, welcoming, and shared so much interesting information about Ketchikan along the way, which made the experience start off on the perfect note.
Once we arrived, we joined Carson for the tour, and he was fantastic! He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire adventure fun from beginning to end. Our captain was equally awesome and helped make the day unforgettable.
Walking through the stunning Tongass National Forest was breathtaking, and seeing the bald eagles up close was absolutely amazing. We also loved spotting the harbor seals—they were such a fun surprise!
To top it all off, we finished the day with a delicious seafood feast that was the perfect ending to an incredible experience.
From the transportation and guides to the wildlife, scenery, and food, we loved everything about this adventure. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful day in Ketchikan!

The boat ride is mucho funo and watching eagles feed is pretty cool.
The food is good but would have been better if it was real butter. Cookies were way better than on the cruise ship.

Thank you for posting a review, Corinna. Unfortunately, we do not catch king crab in this region of Alaska - that is further north. We serve Dungeness crab which is the most abundant crab in this region of Alaska and by far the favorite of Alaskans as it's much sweeter than the king. I'm sorry there was a miscommunication regarding the amount we serve - we rarely have guests asking for more as the portions are so large. We appreciate that you took the time to review and hope that you'll visit us again in the future.

We had a perfect day. Our boat driver Eve made a spectacular tour even better. She was funny and informative and even introduced a new unit of measure. One of the men in our group had his 50th birthday, when noting the trunk size of a Sitka Spruce Tree, she asked ‘Ron’ how big around it was if he tried to measure it with his arm span. They agreed it was about six (Ron’s) and thus introduced a new unit of measure. Other highlights include Great weather (who expects a sunny day when visiting a rain forest), sighting a whale immediately upon boarding the boat. Bald Eagles practically pacing us and showing their fishing skills. Then a nice guided walk thru parts of the world’s largest temperate rain forest followed by a delicious seafood boil. We travelled with a group of 10 friends and made more along the way. Highly recommended. Really great food even for folks that don’t love seafood.

What a great day. Up until then I had only seen a couple of Bald Eagles in the wild. On the cruise out to the Lodge we saw many Eagles. The tour director threw fish out for the Eagles to come swooping and pluck out of the Icy waters just feet from the boat, so amazing. ( none of my pictures from that are not worth posting :( )
On to the Lodge for a walk through the rain forest and seafeast. The forest looked to be out of some enchanted time with fairies and elves hiding from view.
The feast was next and that is exactly what it was. Crab,clams, mussels,shrimp,corn on the cob and sausages. If you went away hungry that was on you. If you are thinking about this excursion I highly recommend it.

Great boat ride then short walk to grand old tree. Moss is covered everywhere and quite beautiful. Seafood feast was delicious. We were well taken care of plus commentary on the boat was interesting as well as funny stories too.

It was a very nice trip, easy and enjoyable. We had one whale sighting (saw the tail, haha) and almost guaranteed you’ll get a close up of eagles. Nature walk was nice, all on boarded planks so wheelchair accessible. Not for someone looking for a vigorous hike but very pretty. Food was yummy!
