Even though the day was not beautiful, this tour was very well worth it. The scenery was wonderful and informative. The visit to Grant Island and the Silver King Fishing Lodge with the crab feast were phenomenal. We totally enjoyed it. Also is not too far to get to the boat ride from Downtown Ketchikan.

Wonderful! We enjoyed the lunch and the whale watching as well as the eagle feeding. The captain gave us a great ride.

We had a perfect day. Our boat driver Eve made a spectacular tour even better. She was funny and informative and even introduced a new unit of measure. One of the men in our group had his 50th birthday, when noting the trunk size of a Sitka Spruce Tree, she asked ‘Ron’ how big around it was if he tried to measure it with his arm span. They agreed it was about six (Ron’s) and thus introduced a new unit of measure. Other highlights include Great weather (who expects a sunny day when visiting a rain forest), sighting a whale immediately upon boarding the boat. Bald Eagles practically pacing us and showing their fishing skills. Then a nice guided walk thru parts of the world’s largest temperate rain forest followed by a delicious seafood boil. We travelled with a group of 10 friends and made more along the way. Highly recommended. Really great food even for folks that don’t love seafood.

We now use SIX RON'S as an official measurement around here! Glad you enjoyed your time and we hope to see you back!

What a great day. Up until then I had only seen a couple of Bald Eagles in the wild. On the cruise out to the Lodge we saw many Eagles. The tour director threw fish out for the Eagles to come swooping and pluck out of the Icy waters just feet from the boat, so amazing. ( none of my pictures from that are not worth posting :( )
On to the Lodge for a walk through the rain forest and seafeast. The forest looked to be out of some enchanted time with fairies and elves hiding from view.
The feast was next and that is exactly what it was. Crab, clams, mussels, shrimp, corn on the cob and sausages. If you went away hungry that was on you. If you are thinking about this excursion I highly recommend it.

Great boat ride then short walk to grand old tree. Moss is covered everywhere and quite beautiful. Seafood feast was delicious. We were well taken care of plus commentary on the boat was interesting as well as funny stories too.

Crab lunch was great. Nicely paced boat ride to the lodge. Good narration. Lovely rainforest walk. Candy made sure we got back to the ship on time.

Wonderful excursion! We would do it again! The boat ride was fun and educational. Our tour guide did a great job. The seafood feast was yummy.

It was a very nice trip, easy and enjoyable. We had one whale sighting (saw the tail, haha) and almost guaranteed you’ll get a close up of eagles. Nature walk was nice, all on boarded planks so wheelchair accessible. Not for someone looking for a vigorous hike but very pretty. Food was yummy!

The staff were all very friendly. Gus, our driver, was very engaged. Even though there was an accident involving one of the other busses, they ensured we were able to complete our full excursion and got us back to our cruise ship in plenty of time. Bridger, the guide, dropped several tidbits of information. The seafood boil lunch at the Silver King Lodge was tasty and SO filling. The walking tour of the Frank Hendershot Memorial Trail was stunning. So glad we were able to enjoy that. We also spotted some seals on our back tour before we got back to the docks, which is apparently a rare encounter.

From the moment that Candi agreed to accommodate me when I needed to change my tour time, in order to get my flight, I knew that I was in great company! She and her cute dog drove out of their way to pick me up because there would be no bus available for my new time. When I arrived at the tour site, I was treated like a dear friend. They were so hospitable as we waited for the tour to start.
Speaking of the tour, Justin was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable, funny, energetic and personable! I don't know how he did it but he made everyone feel equally important. As we traveled by boat out to the Silver Lodge, he gave us great information about the sites as we passed them. He pointed out an eagle's nest; talked about the submarine testing site as we passed by; and pointed out a crowd of seals! Captain Sonny was very accommodating as he slowed down and sped up in perfect harmony with Justin's monologs.
We walked an easy hike through the Lodge backwoods, on a wooden boardwalk. Then, oh my, that seafood! It was fantastic!
On the way back to our start, we saw a seal eating fish near the dock! That was a bonus moment to end with!!

Thank you, Marilyn! You ARE a dear friend - it was wonderful getting to know you and spend a little time with you. We wish you nothing but FUN on all your journeys to come and hope that our paths cross again one day!

Changed our scheduled time to an earlier time to close to our ship arrival for us to make it on time. Even though we called and notified tour we might be late we were left behind after being told they would wait. We were only 10 minutes late and called several times letting them know our status in getting to shore.
Response from Host, Jul 2023
I'm so sorry you were unable to get to the meeting location in time for the departure. We did delay the other 44 guests as long as possible but it is imperative that we stay on schedule and a delay of just 15 minutes can cause some guests to miss their all aboard time post tour. We must consider all guests in every scenario, as I'm sure you can understand.
While we do appreciate your disappointment in not being able to get to the tour, it is unfortunate that you have chosen to review us when you did not actually experience the tour. Also, your money was refunded in full immediately.
Hopefully you were able to do something enjoyable during your day in Ketchikan as there are so many choices in our beautiful little town.

We lucked out and had the greatest weather. Saw eagles flying off their nests to catch fish, seals, and almost a whale. The seafood fest was great finish. Our guide Rainy did a wonderful job.
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thank you so much for sharing these kind words. I've sent it along to Rainy - and I know she will appreciate it. We hope the rest of your cruise is just as great!
