Relaxing, informative and fun. Easy registration and good communication before the tour. We had no problems finding and driving to the Aurora Borealis Basecamp Activity Center. Beautiful outdoor setting. Ahme, the reindeer handler and guide, knows her reindeer. You can tell she enjoys what she does as a reindeer handler, cares for the animals well, and enjoys sharing stories and fun facts about each of the reindeer. The walk was enjoyable. We got to help feed the reindeer and take pictures and videos. Highly Recommend this tour.

The ride out to Aurora basin is beautiful with very scenic views!
We showed up and were greeted with amazing hospitality! Our guide allowed us to start early as we arrived early. She showed us the reindeer we would be walking (Alis). Our guide was very informative on reindeer and answered our questions! Im sorry to say I do not remember our guides name, but she is a young woman from New Hampshire; if you get her you are in for a treat! Alis was very friendly and allowed us to set the pace of the walk. She was sweet and didn't mind when we guided her down the correct path. The walk was the perfect amount of time; not too short but not too long either. At the end we got to see how funny the reindeer are as another reindeer (Hank) jumped in the pin that Alis was supposed to stay in (unsure how he accomplished this, I assume he has hops). Our guide had to move him back to his own pin.
It was a truly wonderful experience! 10/10 would recommend!

I made the reservation based on some other tours I had taken. They picked me up at my hotel and brought me back after the tour was over. After I signed up for this one, I received an email telling me it was an hours trip out of town and I had to have my own transportation to get there. I didn't have a vehicle to get there so I called them to cancel the tour. They told me they didn't give refunds for any reason. I just lost that money. Be very aware if you sign up for this tour you will need your own transportation.

We absolutely loved our tour except that it was -40 F and it was difficult for us to walk the entire trail. Check the weather in advance and opt out for « Meet and Greet » option which is more affordable and allows you to meet and pet a reindeer. I would also recommend booking directly through Aurora Borealis Base Camp.

This experience is not worth it. In the post they never mention that it's impossible to get there. Even with a rented car. The car rentals have places restricted and borealis Basecamp is one of them. No taxi or uber go there and they do not give you refunds. There's reindeer experiences closer to fairbanks like Running Reindeer (8 min far). Skip this scam and go to other one.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear the transportation logistics were frustrating. We do note in our description that we’re located about an hour outside of Fairbanks, and we offer a shuttle specifically because some rental car companies restrict travel on certain roads, and we understand winter driving is a challenge. Our team is always happy to help guests plan transportation in advance, and we encourage anyone unsure about access to reach out before booking so we can make sure the visit works smoothly. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and will continue working to make our communication even clearer.

This reindeer walk and learning about the reindeer habits was very interesting. A calm walk in nature in winter is the best. Abby our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made our walk a unique experience. Thank you for a the memories.

Great experience to really get to interact with Reindeer. Guide Ryan was knowledgeable & got the photos. Walked with Alice the Reindeer, very gentle & hungry as kept wanting to stop & nibble. Dress appropriately as muddy after rain.

Thanks so much for the review! We’re so glad you enjoyed walking with Alice, we agree, Ryan is a fantastic guide!

Ahmad was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and clearly has a love for these beautiful animals. The tour was rugged but I would rate it light to moderate, depending on a persons age, health. Our group was late 60’s and we were fine. I would love to hang out for hours. This was a true gift.

Thanks so much Sherri!! We are very lucky to have Ahmae on the team!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the walk a very fun experience. We really enjoyed the time with the reindeer, it happened to be snowing so we got the full winter wonderland experience.

Even the location was clearly delivered, it was difficult to find out because it is located in mountains and we lost connection that cause google maps to stop. So recommend to screenshot the whole route.
The reindeer was very cute, well taken cared of. But it was a bit disappointing because there was only one and the walk was not that long. But the view was very beautiful from the area.
