Lots of snow so the scenery is just amazing. Additional snow gear provided is amazing and makes ride comfortable. Staff is helpful. Communication on lunch options and their service hours needs improvement. Tour guides were great for both tours - they definitely make it fun.

This was one of the top bucket‑list experiences of our trip, and it absolutely did not disappoint. I could’ve stayed at the Basecamp for days—it was that incredible. We had an amazing time riding the snowmachines and meeting the sweetest, most adorable reindeer. After the activities, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Latitude 65, which was the perfect way to wrap up the day. We’ve already decided that when (not if) we return to Alaska, we’ll be staying at Borealis Basecamp for several days. We truly loved everything about this excursion and felt it was well worth the cost.
Do not miss out on this fun‑filled day of adventure, unforgettable experiences, and breathtaking scenery.

Be prepared for a great experience.! Everyone was so kind and professional. The only negative I can think of was that the ride was too short, but that was my fault; I should have signed up for the two-hour ride, but that probably would have been too short as well! Snow gear and snow machine were immaculate, I'm sorry I can't give it more stars!

The snowmobile tour was super fun! The snow gear was pretty convenient because weather was extremely cold, around -36°C Meet and greet reindeers was super cute activity, the girl in charge of them was very friendly and knowledgeable about all animals. We enjoyed our day.

Everything was great, but there seemed to be no clearcut times as we were never told there was a hard clothes for the restaurant at 3 PM. We even asked which way to the restaurant and nobody told us it was closed.

I have never gone snowmobiling before and was a bit nervous. Khloe and Isaac made sure i felt comfortable before heading out. Isaac continue to check in on us through out the tour to make sure we were holding up okay. 1 hour seemed too short, next time i would for sure do the 3 hour excursion. Evy took us to meet the reindeer and she was so sweet! You can definitely tell how much these guys love their job which makes the tours much more enjoyable.

I had an absolutely incredible experience and cannot recommend this place enough. The snowmobiling was thrilling and well organized, and the reindeer sighting was such a unique and magical experience. On top of that, I loved that we were able to add on a dog sledding activity just by calling the activity center — they made everything so easy and accommodating.
Transportation was seamless with shuttles provided to all the locations, which made the entire day stress-free. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely excited to make sure we had an amazing time.
To top it all off, the restaurant was fantastic — the French dip was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Between the activities, the food, and the outstanding service, this trip exceeded all expectations.
I will absolutely be coming back and recommending this experience to everyone I know.

Great tour with the best tour guide! Guide is super friendly, gave us plenty of time in Santa Clause House and at the gas station before the hike. He gave us his hand warmer and he is always ready to help because the hike in December is not easy for beginners! I don't know if I can self hike this trail without him! Much appreciated! He is always willing to help so just ask for it!

Such a wonderful experience! Unfortunately there wasn’t yet enough snow to do the Snowmobiles, however they reached out in advance and offered UTVs in lieu of, or a full refund. We opted to continue as planned with UTVs and reindeer experience. The guides were all so friendly and engaging, including the gentleman that did mushing which we hadn’t signed up for. Definitely recommend.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for sharing! We’re thrilled you had a wonderful visit, and we appreciate your flexibility with the UTVs when snow conditions didn’t allow for snowmobiles; it means a lot to hear that our team felt friendly and engaging throughout your day, and we’re so glad you’d recommend the experience!

As a packaged tour, this “Reindeer and Snowmobile Day Trip” seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately, the itinerary itself and how it was communicated left a bit to be desired. Though the description says 9:15am and 9:45am start time, I was not picked up until almost 10:10am and arrived at the basecamp at around 11am. From there we were dropped off at the Adventure Center, to check in. Everyone in the shuttle seemed to have their own different itineraries and at different scheduled times. Be sure to jot down your time slots, so you don’t miss anything. Since this tour included lunch, we then had to walk back down the trail to the main lodge to pick up our meal vouchers and eat. Lunch was in a lovely restaurant on top of the hill, with stunning views and good food.
From 1pm was supposed to be the Reindeer Meet n Greet, which didn’t start until almost 1:20pm (with little to no communication about the delay), and ended around 1:40pm. We had 8 people in a small pen with 1 reindeer. It was nice being able to feed and pet it, but there weren’t really any opportunities to have 1-on-1 pictures with the reindeer.
After that was the “snowmobile” portion of the tour at 2pm, which had to be changed to a UTV since there wasn’t enough snow on the ground for snowmobiles. This 1 hour tour was what left the best overall impression for the day. Our tour guide, Isaac made sure we were bundled up and well-equipped for our adventure. We had a blast driving through the snow and taking in all of the stunning views! We stopped at designated spots along the way to get down and take pictures. It was a lot of fun, and I’d love to do it again.
Overall, the tour can still be worth it for many people, since the activities were enjoyable and the shuttle from/to Fairbanks is included. Just make sure to set your expectations for exactly how much time you’ll be spending on each activity vs waiting for them, and what each activity entails.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed lunch, the scenery, and especially the UTV adventure with Isaac, and we’re equally grateful for your honest feedback about the timing, communication, and expectations around the packaged itinerary. We sincerely apologize for the issues you faced during your tour, we take your feedback seriously and we'll review with the team. We appreciate you still finding value in the day overall, and we hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back for a smoother, even more memorable experience next time.

Absolute fun! It was a fantastic experience at Borealis Basecamp. Friendly people and the scenic view at the Basecamp is breathtaking

We had an awesome day trip from Fairbanks! Cooper was great at getting us set and maintaining a pace that worked with having 2 person snowmobiles…and made sure we knew when we had flat spots ;). Lance was super knowledgeable about Rory the reindeer, and we had fun on our nature walk. The lunch and service were wonderful.
Kathleen_W, Mar 2024
Snowmobile was SUPER fun, our guide was great, and the scenery was gorgeous! The reindeer walk was a little dangerous with the ice laden trail up hills. The dog sled was absolutely the BEST!!!!
Sherry_M, Mar 2024
The best day we’ve had in the area! The added complimentary activities were awesome and food top notch!! All the staff who works here are fantastic!
Response from Host, Mar 2024

rest of your trip to Alaska!

Snowmobile part was wonderful fun. Reindeer walk disappointing-6 of us walking 2 reindeer. Guide enthusiastic/knowledgeable but could only be heard by current walkers; all others in group out of luck. Walk was down the mountain and back up again. I nearly died being out of breath and guide never even noticed-no notice given of the steep terrain and there was much flat place the walk could have been. Timing of ride/walk not properly advertised-picked us up at 0930, ride not until noon, walk not until 3pm. Were there the entire day for 2 hours of tours. Lunch was nothing special and service was TERRIBLE.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Hi Lisa, thank you for this feedback! I will bring it back to our team and discuss so we can improve this product.
We do offer a series of self-guided activities at no charge, including skii-ing and snowshoeing on groomed trails, I hope you had the chance to try one of these activities in between scheduled departures! We hope you had a great rest of your trip to Alaska!
Wenmo_K, Mar 2024
The snow machine tour and reindeer walk were both very fun. We went to see the trans-Alaska pipeline w/ the snow machine ride. It's a little tricky for first-time drivers but our guide was very good at instructions. They also have packages that include accommodations where you can see Aurora from your tent. Make sure to check that out if you're up for the Northern lights.

Hello, thank you for leaving a review! We hope you had a great rest of your trip to Alaska
Jeanne_N, Feb 2024
Lots of waiting around. There were three raindeer and we walked around camp with them for 40 minutes. The snow machine tour guide was very good, but we had to go very slowly (because there were six machines and the guide had to continually wait for people to catch up). The machines were new and worked ok, however they were very hard to control at such slow speeds. Would not recommend this experience.
