Great tour guides. Bus drivers shared interesting facts about Charleston, the tour guides at the plantation were awesome. The swamp tour was worth going on and the walking Tour of the gardens was fabulous. The cafe was very affordable and food very good.

Had a wonderful time except the dozens of mosquito bites I came home with. Will be back to see more.

Overall, the tour was interesting and extremely informative and comprehensive. Prepare to see lots of sights and learn all kinds of history in the process,, all shown in an immersive manner, particularly on the slave tour! This facility, however, could do to improve their ADA compliance, such as widen sidewalks and ramps for wheelchair access and allow exceptions for blind/visually-impaired people to be able to touch items.

Great tour guides for all three tours included. Beautiful plantation, nice restaurant onsite, very clean and well kept.

Magnolia plantation was beautiful. Good history lesson on slaves, civil war and what happened to plantation owners after the war. One of the slave cabins had old newspapers on the walls for insulation. The grounds were beautiful. Not enough time to see all the grounds but they now allow you to come back within a week to see more at no cost.

The plantation house tour and train tour was really good. The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. The slave cabin tour never happened because the tour guide never showed.
Anna_H, Apr 2026
Beautiful plantation! Enjoyed walking through it's gardens, tram tour and house tour. The tour on slave's quarters was a bit too long though.
randi_c, Apr 2026
The tour guides were all very knowledgeable, it was well organized and allowed us to
touch history!!

I had a wonderful experience on the tours at Magnolia Plantation. All guides were well informed and interesting to listen to. The grounds were beautiful and what was blooming was bright. The house is stunning BUT the nature boat trip was best. To see nature in its own element is always amazing.

A lot of walking on paved or gravel. Nice gift shop, cafe and bathrooms. House tour was great! Beautiful grounds.

Wear comfy walking shoes, bring bug spray, and definitely use sun protection! We brought a couple of bottles of water and light snacks. They have the Peacock Cafe, as well. I got an iced coffee with vanilla for ~$6 - they do have spirits and food options, too!
Our tour bus driver, Karlie Jo, was amazing! She’s a great driver, funny, and you should take her advice on the nature train ride versus the boat ride. There are several tours available, but I honestly liked walking around and exploring the area most of all. There are ADA accessible bathrooms, and the whole plantation is very family / young kid friendly. I would recommend coming here with this tour option 100% - you meet at the clean and accessible Charleston Visitor Center for pick up and drop off, and it’s so centrally located you can bounce off to anything the area has to offer right away.

The day was pleasant and it was helpful to have transportation to and from the plantation. There was a slight mixup during our tour of the house and that portion of the tour was double booked with about 48 people. The guide Marie handled the situation well and took the entire group on the tour but it did make it a little difficult with that large of a group. Also, there was very little time between tours to eat and a large line at the concession stand. So I would plan on eating before or after the tour.

Meg was a delight; she was organized, punctual, and informative! She was a lot of fun and gave us a good overview of the plantation and Charleston. The tour was great; we enjoyed the nature and the slavery to freedom tours. Well worth the cost and highly recommend.
Gayla_H, Apr 2026
Loved the Slave History tour, the house tour was good but way over crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride and grounds were amazing.
Pat_I, Mar 2026
This included 3 different tours in the plantation and all the tour guides were wonderful. Are only
Complaint is that we didn’t really have enough time in between the tours or after the tours to walk around and explore the grounds.
Sheila_G, Mar 2026
This was a wonderful day. It included history and walks through beautiful gardens that were just in Bloom. Our driver, “The Meg”, out to the plantation was wonderful and very engaging. I wish there was a little more time allowed for between the different tours to truly enjoy the property.
Coleen_Y, Mar 2026
Very organized with the time of tours. Clean. Please realize you will need to download a map. The paper maps are not accurate, and the people will let you know they are being discontinued. Too bad we need to keep our noses to a phone for clear directions. How about just a map posted on a sign in several locations??
Dana_R, Mar 2026
Our driver, "The Meg" was terrific. Kept us informed along the way with interesting facts about the area along with a great sense of humor.
Rashid_S, Mar 2026
The tour was fantastic. Marine Mike was great, gave us some history about Charleston as to drive to Magnolia Plantation.
Definitely worth the visit.
Jennifer_K, Mar 2026
The time goes by very quickly! If you do all 3 tours and have lunch, you have no other time to walk the grounds. I would skip the nature tram tour and take a long walk instead. There’s SO much to see and do!
Chris_F, Mar 2026
Sit back and be prepared to have a good time if you have meg as a driver mirroring for a treat. She has great taste in music
GERGANA_D, Mar 2026
Our guide for the plantation house tour (Moly) was very knowledgeable and we learned not only for the plantation itself but for Charleston history as well.
Shirley_L, Mar 2026
Such a beautiful place. Wear comfortable shoes this property is huge with lots to see.
Book ahead as the train ride and the house tour fills up quickly. Go early as possible so that there aren't many people there yet.
Jeri_H, Mar 2026
Was not impressed with the train tour around the grounds. Very impersonal and the hitch was very loud and squeaky. However, I loved everything else. The slave tour was great and the plantation tour was great great
Melanie_B, Mar 2026
The slavery to freedom part was definitely the best. The house tour focuses on all the aspects of being rich without giving slaves any credit. The gardens are indeed beautiful. The "train "tour was very informative.
Blair_A, Mar 2026
Great tours of historical plantation with slavery history. Gardens and nature trails were beautiful.
Jennifer_A, Feb 2026
Although the plantation was lovely, the true beauty was the grounds. Acres of lovely foliage, even in February.
Nancy_K, Dec 2025
We should have gone in spring or early fall as the gardens would have been beautiful then. Late November there were only a few blooms.
