Our driver, "The Meg" was terrific. Kept us informed along the way with interesting facts about the area along with a great sense of humor.
Rashid_S, Mar 2026
The tour was fantastic. Marine Mike was great, gave us some history about Charleston as to drive to Magnolia Plantation.
Definitely worth the visit.

The time goes by very quickly! If you do all 3 tours and have lunch, you have no other time to walk the grounds. I would skip the nature tram tour and take a long walk instead. There’s SO much to see and do!

Sit back and be prepared to have a good time if you have meg as a driver mirroring for a treat. She has great taste in music

Our guide for the plantation house tour (Moly) was very knowledgeable and we learned not only for the plantation itself but for Charleston history as well.
Shirley_L, Mar 2026
Such a beautiful place. Wear comfortable shoes this property is huge with lots to see.
Book ahead as the train ride and the house tour fills up quickly. Go early as possible so that there aren't many people there yet.

Was not impressed with the train tour around the grounds. Very impersonal and the hitch was very loud and squeaky. However, I loved everything else. The slave tour was great and the plantation tour was great great
Melanie_B, Mar 2026
The slavery to freedom part was definitely the best. The house tour focuses on all the aspects of being rich without giving slaves any credit. The gardens are indeed beautiful. The "train "tour was very informative.

Great tours of historical plantation with slavery history. Gardens and nature trails were beautiful.
Jennifer_A, Feb 2026
Although the plantation was lovely, the true beauty was the grounds. Acres of lovely foliage, even in February.
Nancy_K, Dec 2025
We should have gone in spring or early fall as the gardens would have been beautiful then. Late November there were only a few blooms.

The tour operator, Old Town Trolleys was the best. Our ship was late docking and they arranged complimentary special transportation to the meeting point so we wouldn’t miss the tour. We had three separate tours of the Mansion, the slave history and a wildlife boat ride. The narration on all the tours was exceptional. Highly recommend.

Beautiful gardens to walk through. House tour is good, Nature Train tour was very good as we saw gators, turtles and varied vegetation. But, the highlight is the “From Slavery to Freedom” Tour. Don’t miss it.

We (my husband and I) rode on the old town tours bus with alone with karlie jo so it was a trip we got to know her better. The plantation was beautiful and fun to see. Wish we could have had longer to explore more but with bus didn't work out. Learned alot about the plantation, slavery and history. Would highly recommend

Tour guide in the house and the cabin area were wonderful. The entire site was gorgeous. We experienced terrific rain while there and didn’t get to take the boat ride. Viator returned part of our fees. Bus driver to and from plantation was also delightful. We were the only 2 on the bus.
Teresa_S, Aug 2025
This tour was wonderful we had time to walk the grounds and also went on the boat tour. Our driver to the plantation Major Ted was great he gave us a brief tour on the way to the plantation and once we arrived he made sure we knew everything we needed to know to enjoy the tour
Robert_H, Jul 2025
An excellent combination of touring the plantation, the history or slave trading in North America and the life of a slave on a plantation. The contrast between the gardens and the history is eye opening.
Justin_B, Jul 2025
You cant take pictures inside the house. Can't explore on your own. The guide bri was awesome, very comical. The house itself is pretty. The train ride through the gardens wasnt what I expected. Felt rush cause all the tickets you get is back to back. So no inbetween breaks if u want to see all of it.

Hassle free experience. The Meg was very friendly and knowledgeable and took care of us from start to finish. Tour bus was clean and comfortable. Worth the price for a hassle free experience, no lines, no problems.
John_Y, Jun 2025
The tour was decent. The bus driver was knowledgeable and entertaining. The freedom cabin tour was good as was the house tour. However, the train ride through the grounds was cancelled due to potential thunderstorms. When I tried to switch times so we could both the house tour and the train ride, I was told that it was not possible. No mention of rain check for another day or refund. It was basically sorry I didn’t work out.

This was the only plantation tour we were able to squeeze into our visit and we were not disappointed. The tour company did a great job. Driver was nice and had great information for the drive there. Tour van/bus was so comfortable, and even had chargers! Pick up was well communicated and easy at the visitors center. The plantation is beautiful and full of history. All the guides were full of information and did a great job. The cafe was also wonderful.
