Itinerary

After morning pickup from select Boston hotels, travel with the rest of your group aboard an air-conditioned mini-coach towards Plymouth, Masssachusetts.

On arrival, get a sense of daily life in the 17th century as you skip the long entry lines and explore Plimoth Plantation, part of the Plimoth Patuxet Museums. Next, proceed to Plymouth Harbor to check out the famous Plymouth Rock, followed by free time for lunch (own expense), souvenir shopping, and independent sightseeing.

Then, proceed to the National Monument to the Forefathers, one of the largest solid granite monuments in the world. Then, board your mini-coach for a journey along the South Shore coastal region.

Stop in Quincy, Massachusetts, the birthplace of two US presidents: John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Continue past other major landmarks, such as Scituate Lighthouse.

Finally, board the Mayflower II, a replica of the 17th-century ship that first bought Pilgrims to New England. Learn about their historic journey during your visit.

Really enjoyed this. Liked the small size tour. Mini bus ... So nice to have others but not so big a group that the stops took forever. Very comfortable bus. Well planned stops. Great knowledge from your guide. Really nice view along the coast. Nice to get feel of New England. Plymouth is a cute town with good tourist shopping and various lunch options.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and congenial. I feel like the time at the stops in Plymouth could have been shorter, but I did enjoy the trip down the coastal highway through the little towns/villages

Dennis_M, Oct 2025
I wanted to see the Pilgrim Museum in town. Did not realize "museum" referred to the Indian village. This is mis-leading, If the guide had told me I could have made other arrangements. I suggest that you make the visit to the Museum and the trip to the village an option. I could have seen it on my lunch 2 1/2 break. The guide was very good, though he could have pointed out the chance to visit the museum.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your review. Nothing about the itinerary is misleading. We mention the Plimoth Patuxet Museum, as that is included in your trip. We never mention anything about the Pilgrim Museum. Perhaps you should have done a bit more research on our trip and made your own plans to visit the museum during your free time. Thank you for your suggestion though I think that our trip is perfect just the way that it is. Kind Regards, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

More than just Plymouth

Christine_M, Sep 2025
This day trip is a must if you want to go to Plymouth! I didn't have to worry about driving in Boston's traffic, and we made stops along the way to see many things I would have missed otherwise. Our driver was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with.

Thank you for your wonderful 5 Star review of our Day trip to Plymouth and Quincy from Boston. I am glad that you had such an enjoyable day on this trip. You are correct that this trip is so much more than just Plymouth. Include a stop in Quincy (the City of Presidents) an oceanfront drive through Cohasset for some amazing scenery and a lighthouse stop in the coastal town of Scituate and then Plymouth. It's a full day with some amazing sights and a ton of history! I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with Chris as well. Thanks for sharing. Kind Regards, Stephen M. Going to see the “rock”

Karen_G, Aug 2025
There is much more to this tour than can be described. The drive through the coastal towns, the 11th oldest lighthouse and Nantusket beach were all pleasant surprises. So much history about the “rock”. It was great to see and I was not disappointed. Would have loved to tour the Mayflower II but it was getting inspected. Got a picture as it had just gotten into port as we left. Chris was a great tour guide and driver.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Thank you for your 4 Star review of our Day trip to Plymouth and Quincy from Boston. Unfortunately, on the day of your trip the Coast Guard was inspecting the Mayflower thus it was unavailable for boarding. I apologize for that, though it was out of our control and we did substitute the Grist Mill. I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with Chris and seeing "THE ROCK". Thanks for sharing your experience. Kind Regards, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

Great Tour!

Joy_K, Aug 2025
We really enjoyed our trip. It was really nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the ride and not have to worry about driving or directions. The Plimoth Patuxet Museum was really interesting and the stops along the way were a lot of fun. Chris was a great tour guide! We learned a lot from him about from places we visited. This tour is a great option for both adults and kids. If you’re considering this trip, be aware that there is a lot of walking, especially at the Plimoth Patuxet Museum. It’s rough, hilly terrain and not suitable for folks with walkers or wheel chairs. While there is a golf cart that can take you from one exhibit to another, you’ll have to walk under your own power over long, gravel paths to see the villages. The 17th century village is on a very steep hill with a long gravel path.

A suggestion

Very Good Tour to Plymouth

Amanda_C, Jun 2025
We had a very good day with Chris as our driver/guide. He provided snacks and water for our early start with plenty of restroom breaks along the route. As tourists from another country, we appreciated Chris's wealth of information and knowledge of history. We particularly liked the drive through Quincy, Hingham and Cohasset and marvelled at the beautiful charming homes lining the streets. We enjoyed spending time in Plymouth, visiting The Mayflower ll and Plymouth Rock. Perhaps less time spent at the Plantation and more in Plymouth but overall a very good tour.  Recommend.

Enjoyable tour well worth doing

John_G, May 2025
Excellent guide/driver Chris gave very informative commentaries. Stops were the right length except we would have liked more free time in Plymouth as there is a lot to see in the town and less time at the Plantation. The Plantation is well worth seeing but everyone was back at the bus ready to go 20 minutes early. This is not a complaint. Others may think differently and it is not easy for the organiser to balance the timing.
