We had a wonderful time with Adam and Diego. 1000% recommend. It was not too hard for someone slightly out of shape. The hike was 2.68 miles/9800 steps.

So glad I took this tour to hike Mantanuska Glacier with knowledgeable and well trained professionals. They kept our group safe while still providing for breathtaking panoramic and close up views of the glacier. Guides kept the hiking pace comfortable with plenty of time for photographs and glacier discussion. The meal after the hike was delicious and offered a choice of Alaska Delicacies. My wife and I joined the Matanuska Glacier Winter Tour, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Alaska. After all, how many people can say they've actually hiked on a glacier? Our guide, Victoria, was excellent-friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. She picked us up at our hotel right on time and, during the two-hour drive, patiently answered all of our questions about glaciers, wildlife, and Alaska. She also made sure we felt safe and comfortable during the hike. Walking on the glacier was an incredible experience. Lunch, water, and snacks were provided, and everything was very well organized.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we highly recommend this tour.

This was a true glacier experience where even beginners could walk safely on real ice. The drive from Anchorage took about two hours each way (around four hours round trip), but the journey itself felt like part of the adventure. After finishing the glacier walk, we drove about five minutes to a local burger spot for lunch, which was simple but surprisingly good and a nice way to warm up.
We spent roughly 1.5 to just under 2 hours walking on the glacier, and it was not physically difficult. The guides provided crampons, and the equipment was well maintained. Both guides were extremely professional, walking at the front and back of the group to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable. The glacier access was excellent — you are not just viewing it from afar, you are truly walking on it. They also helped take great photos, which made the experience even more memorable.
The temperature felt similar to when I was in Fairbanks at around -30°C, so proper layering is important. I brought waterproof gloves and wore waterproof pants, which worked perfectly. For anyone who didn’t have proper gloves, the team even lent spare waterproof ones, which showed how much they cared about safety. I booked the tour last minute and didn’t have waterproof boots, but they kindly provided glacier-appropriate waterproof boots for me — I was incredibly grateful for that level of support.
Overall, this was a very satisfying and well-organized tour. Being able to witness such an incredible natural landscape in person was truly unforgettable. If you are coming to Alaska, I highly recommend experiencing the Matanuska Glacier — it’s an experience you should not miss at least once in your lifetime.

It's the second time that I went Makanuska Glacier hiking with my family. Last time was in Jan 2024 with my teenage daughter. It was great and became one of the most important reason for us to fly back again from Shanghai. This time was even better! Our guide Diego picked up us on time and drove very well on the way. He understood that the guests of that day were mostly from non-English speaking countries and were actually very tired in the early morning. So he didn't speak too much on the way and gave the guests opportunity to take a nap. We began our hike with another group from Beijing, China, and the two guides were both fantastic! They were very knowledgable about the glacier, and worked there for years. The trail route was a little bit different from last time we were there in 2024, because of the different choices made by different guides, and because the glacier was changing fast every year, I guess. The hike was not a tough one to all the group members, both adults and teenagers. But it was definitely an interesting and memorable one. We went to a lodge for lunch after the hike, with amazing glacier view and great food, which was included in the activity package. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience and we highly recommended it!

Itinerary, pick-up, lunch, all amazing. The glacier is an amazing excursion worth the drive from Anchorage. The tour guides, though were just not up to par with what we were expecting. Maybe that’s just our expectation based on other Anchorage tours but two hours each way is a lot without some narration or commentary.

This glacier tour was easily one of the most incredible experiences of my life. What made it even more special, we were the first group out there and had the glacier completely to ourselves for the first hour. Standing on a massive field of ancient ice in total quiet was surreal and honestly hard to put into words.
Our guide, John, was fantastic and super knowledgeable. He shared so much about how the glacier formed, how it moves, and how it’s changing over time, all in a way that was easy to understand and really interesting. He also made sure everyone felt safe and confident walking on the ice.
Walking across the glacier felt like stepping onto another planet. The deep blue ice, meltwater streams, and huge ice formations were unbelievable in person, pictures just don’t capture it. Having that peaceful, crowd-free time at the beginning made it even more magical.
Everything was well organized from start to finish. They provided all the necessary gear, including ice spikes for our boots, which made walking on the glacier feel secure and comfortable. Lunch was also included, which was a great touch and gave us time to relax and take in the scenery.
If you’re visiting Alaska, don’t even hesitate, book the glacier tour. It’s a bucket-list experience you’ll remember forever

Our guide Bill is very knowledgeable about the formations of the glaciers and we had a great time hiking and navigating our way around snow-capped glacier ice! It wasn’t very cold or windy the day of the tour and we were able to cover 3+ miles of the glacier routes.

Very knowledgeable guides! The hike was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska! The lunch after the hike was pretty good too. Nothing beats a cup of hot coffee and a hot sandwich after a hike through the glaciers.

Incredible experience!! One of the most unique and cool excursions I have ever done, definitely the highlight of our trip to Anchorage. Our guide was Tim, and he was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We felt completely safe and in good hands. He provided some really interesting insight into life in Alaska, as well as plenty of information about the glacier and surrounding area. He also snapped the perfect picture for us!
The communication is spot on to arrange your pickup time the morning of. Even if you are staying at an Airbnb, you just give them the address that you’re at and they will arrange for you to meet at a nearby hotel that has free parking. The trip to the glacier is a nice ride with a pitstop at a gas station where we could grab beverages and a light breakfast.
The hike in the winter can be extremely cold (of course)! Highly recommend three layers on top and bottom, two pairs of socks, good waterproof boots, a beanie plus a hood, and a face mask to protect your nose from the wind especially while crossing the lake. The company provides you with spikes that just stretch on over your boots and give you perfect grip on the ice. Felt incredibly safe.
You are on the glacier for about 3 hours, but it flies by! Once you are on the glacier and moving you get acclimated to the cold. The guides will help you with timing and safety and pictures the whole time. The whole crew was extremely friendly, interesting to chat with, and professional! The time there is truly awe inspiring. It is such an adrenaline rush and just an overload of natural beauty.
After the glacier you stop at a restaurant for a lunch that is included in the cost! You can also get a hot coffee, tea or cocoa to warm up which is deeply appreciated. If you want a dessert you can pay for it separately, and I highly recommend getting a slice of the rhubarb pie! It was soooo good. After you eat you will probably want to nap on the way back home, or stay up to take in more beautiful scenery and see bald eagles flying overhead.
I can’t recommend this tour enough! By the end of the day I was blown away with how good of a value the experience is for the cost. If you are on the fence- book it!! You will not regret it.

Turkey an awesome experience- about a 3.5 mile hike in total and we got to go through three crevasses and an ice cave. Beautiful views and very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I was in Anchorage on a work trip and had only one full day to explore (my flight lefty at 11 PM). This trip worked out perfectly. I was picked up by Dawn and Bill right at 7:35 from my hotel and quickly picked up the rest of the group. We had a smooth and informative ride to Matanuska (with a van filled with water bottles and snacks) for around 2 hours. During that time, we had a scenic stop for photos as well as bathroom/coffee break.
Once we got there, we hit the ground running! It was spectacular and we were well-equipped with our crampons and guides. Bill and Dawn were patient with all of our photos, explaining everything and guiding the way. It was a spectacular, beautiful experience, and the entire group was lovely. I had enough service to be able to stream my son's baseball game the whole time and it was wonderful to be able to do both.
Lunch was right outside the park and it was delicious with various options as well as another great view. I highly recommend this tour, whether in a group (as there was one in our van), an older couple, or solo travelers. I will be coming back to Anchorage and bringing my family along- this is not to be missed!

The glacier tour was an incredible experience! Our guide Megan was punctual in picking us up and took us on an amazing hike across the glacier. She very enthusiastic, helping us take lots of great photos and providing fascinating insights into the natural landscape along the way.
