This small-group tour takes you south along the Seward Highway to soak up ocean and mountain views on the way to Alyeska Ski Area where an an aerial tram takes you 2,300 feet (700 meters) above sea level. Afterward, visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to learn how sanctuary cares for the Last Frontier’s injured and orphaned animals and see resident wildlife including grizzly bear, moose, caribou, and musk ox.

We spent a lovely afternoon touring the beautiful scenery and wildlife of the Anchorage and surrounding areas. David was one of the best tour guides I have ever experienced. He eagerly shares his love and knowledge of his home in Alaska and his passion for the nature and wildlife with those on the tour. He is very kind and curious putting you at ease and into a lighthearted community feeling right away. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to see around the Anchorage area.

David is a wonderful knowledge guide who shares his love for his adopted state . The van is comfortable with huge windows . David gives you an hour plus at Alyeska to hike or dine- wonderful views. Then an hour and a half at the animal rescue- all the animals were out- brown and black bear, caribou, elk, muskox, wood bison, wolves, lynx, moose. Because we had great weather David made a couple of extra stops- to view the Explorer glacier and then see spawning salmon up close. What a great trip. So glad we didn't rent a car! Thanks David!

It was fun and absolute must-do activity in Anchorage! David was great at keeping us well informed on Alaska facts both in history and current events. We saw wildlife up close and personal and drive in Seward Highway was comfortable while learning about the fascinating history of the Turnagain Arm. David took us to a picturesque lake with Explorer Glacier at the background was a bonus!

David is a fantastic tour guide. He has been guiding for many years but just started his own business, AK Frontier Tours. He loves what he does and has a wealth of knowledge about Alaska. There were 8 of us on the Wildlife Conservatory and Alyeska Tram tour. My grandson especially wanted to see the animals in the Conservatory. David shared information about the animals and even knew the names and history of how they came to be at the Conservatory. The tram ride was fun and we had time to have lunch at the top in the Bore Tide Deli. This was a great tour for our first day in Alaska. I highly recommend it.

We highly recommend this tour! David is the owner and guide for this amazing tour. He is very knowledgeable and we learned alot about Alaska and the animals at the Wildlife Center. The tram up the Alyeska was also great! We hiked for a bit and had lunch at the top. What great views! David is also a good driver which made the drive there and back enjoyable!

Don’t miss this tour with David. He is truly a renaissance man and will not only give you comprehensive geography lessons about the locations you will tour, but you will also learn about the history of the ancient peoples who populated these areas. He is a well-educated naturalist who will keep you enthralled with his many anecdotes and discussions of animal behavior, geology, chemistry, the physics associated with walking on mud, animal physiology, animal adaptations relating to living in cold environments, ecology of marine mammals, and if you are interested in the scientific names rather than just the common names of the animals you will see, he will supply those as well. This tour would be a bargain if it cost twice the asking price.

I am not a tour person, but I was solo in Anchorage after dropping my kid off for a backpacking trip. I didn’t have a car and wanted to see something other than downtown Anchorage…David delivered! He was knowledgeable, personable, and sincere in his love for Alaska and outdoor adventure. In six hours I saw several beautiful places and lots of fascinating animals. I learned a lot and enjoyed every minute. I never felt rushed and small group size made it a unique experience for all. So glad I took a chance on this fabulous tour and made the most of my long weekend in Anchorage.

This tour was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska! Our guide, David, was absolutely phenomenal - genuinely one of the most knowledgeable and passionate guides we’ve ever had. His deep understanding of Alaskan history, wildlife, geography, and culture added so much depth to the experience. We learned more during this single afternoon than we did on all our other tours combined.
David’s enthusiasm for Alaska is contagious. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and that energy made us want to stay and learn even more. From spotting wildlife to taking in breathtaking views from the tram, every moment was enhanced by his insight and storytelling.
We only wish we had more time with him - an afternoon just wasn’t enough. If you’re looking for a tour that goes beyond the surface and truly connects you with the heart of Alaska, this is the one.

The tour was informative, fun, and just the right length of time. The scenery was gorgeous, animals were amazing and David, the guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. He even supplied water and snacks! I appreciated that it was a small tour and much more personal than a big charter bus tour. It was a fantastic day exploring a bit of Alaska!!
