We had an amazing time on our hike, our guide Brie was fantastic and the views were stunning. The trail is very well maintained and easy to walk, my friend wore converse sneakers and had no problems. Even though it was raining, we had so much fun and enjoyed learning about the different plants and animals of Sitka. I highly recommend you give it a try!!

If you like hiking and a great tour guide . This is for you ! Great way to spend 2 hours . I highly recommend. Sam was the best! Friendly and very knowledgeable!
The hike is absolutely amazing, we had great weather.
Learned so much about the natural habitat and how it replenished.
A must-do tour in Sitka!
If you're looking for a stress-free way to experience the beauty of the Tongass National Forest, this tour is fantastic. Nephi was a wonderful guide—super personable, engaging, and eager to answer all of our questions. He shared fascinating details about local plant life, wildlife, and what it’s like living in Sitka. We saw salmon in one of the small creeks. It was the perfect, well-paced outing. Thanks to Nephi for making our trip so special!
Great tour guide! Very friendly! Informative. Kind guide- very knowledgeable. Learned a lot. We really enjoyed it
A beautiful walk in the rainforest. Our guide Sam was really knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about the environment and history of the area. Thanks Sam!
It was a rainy day, so our tour group was just my wife and I. Nephi, our guide, was absolutely fantastic. Knowledgeable and shared what he knew and made the trip very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this.
As for the hike, the trails are very well kept we ended up going about 3.7 miles round-trip in the allotted time, but we stopped to take pictures and talk about various flora and fauna.
Afterwards, we had the opportunity to stop at spots in town before heading back.
Awesome experience hiking in Sitka. Dakotah was a great guide. Very sociable and fun to talk to. Had a very nice passion for explaining the forest and the plants and trees in this majestic forest. You don’t even have to take a long walk. Less than 10 mins and you’re already on the trail from the start point. The weather wasn’t the best for truly admiring the beauty of this lush rainforest but it was still an amazing experience. The trail is not steep and perfectly fine for kids and older people. I loved just being amongst the trees as it is truly only an experience you can get in Alaska. Would definitely go and do it again!
Great hike, nice trail. Nephi was very charismatic and a great guide. He had many good remarks about the forest and the town.
If you want a in depth, casual, friendly, knowledgeable excursion, ask for Sam. Just the right mix of nature, mushrooms and moss. Mix into that the historical information about the area and you have an amazing experience.
This was just what I was looking for, the hike was beautiful. Got to enjoy nature and learn a lot about Alaska. Our tour guide Sam was very informative. We learned so much, especially about mushrooms! Lol.
But it was a very peaceful way to spend our trip to Sitka.
Our expectations were far from met with the knowledge and expertise of our guide, Nephi. If likeability was the only consideration, he would get 5 stars, but at $120 pp, we were expecting more detailed information and facts about the Tongass forest. It’s a short walk from the cruise shuttle to the forest entrance and an easy hike with well marked trails. We didn’t need a guide for what we learned, but Nephi was entertaining in other ways. FYI - constantly stating you’re only 18 is not a good reason to lack the expertise that is marketed in the listing. As you do at least 3 tours a day, you have plenty of access to sharpen your knowledge to provide real value to your clients and not just use this job opportunity to replenish your fishing lures.
Nephi was a fabulous guide with plenty of insights that added to a beautiful walk. His fun stories added color to an already colorful landscape. Absolutely recommend this tour with Nephi!
We had a great hike and explanation of the local flora by our guide Hannah. She was personable and knowledgeable. While easily doable, it was a little more strenuous (with hilly portions) then I expected. I think those with mobility problems might want a different tour. Finally, don't forget your rain gear!!
This hike was stunningly beautiful, and Sam, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable. He also was mindful that we had young kids, and made accommodations as needed so that they could enjoy the excursion as much as possible. Highly recommend this beautiful two hour hike that isn't terribly challenging for families.
Nice hike through the forest. Friendly guide. The weather was nice, too. Beautiful trail, interesting facts about the area and some of the foliage.
This was a wonderful hike through the forest. Quiet, peaceful, easy, gravel path with some hills.
Savvy was our guide. She was delightful and knowledgeable about the forest. She really made the day, and was attentive to our hiking abilities
Brie was a fantastic guide who is extremely knowledgeable and a native of Sitka.
The meeting spot is really convenient and located right where the cruise ship shuttle drops off and picks up.
This experience was just what we wanted to do. Hike an easy path through Tongas. Brie was very friendly and an expert of the forest.
Surprise snacks were included. This hike is not difficult. Yes, get out into the largest US National Forest. Thenks, Brie
It was a great experience to escape from ever-eating-talking crowd of cruise ship and be able to listen squirrels talking between each other instead)
it was intimate, safe & knowledgeable! I learned alot abt trees, plants & the forest. I had some berries, too.
Great experience hiking and the guide was awesome! Really enjoyed the hike. Audrey was our guide and did a tremendous job. Would love to do a longer hike next time I am up
Great tour guide! Snacks were provided and she seemed extremely knowledgeable about the terrain and community.
Haley was a great guide. She made it fun and interesting and went at our pace. I hightly recommend for a fun afternoon.
John was a fantastic guide. He was funny and led us comfortably though the beautiful Tongass. The hike was easy and a relaxing way to spend a couple hours at port
The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly which made the experience all that much better.
It is really a beautiful area.
Our guide was great, no issues there. I was just expecting better views during our hike. Its something I could have done on my own without the help of a guide.

Guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great history of Sitka. Also gave great explanation of all the plant life. Water bottles and snacks were provided at the halfway point of the hike.

So glad you loved the tour! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
It was a nice 4 mile hike with a mild elevation change. Our guide was nice. The biggest downside was the opportunity cost. There were other excursion that offered more exciting wildlife viewing.
Great short hike with knowledgeable guide. Perfect for young kids and our guide was well prepared with town history, tips on what berries we could eat (the kids loved the berries), and general information about the geography.
