My family and I did a tour of the Best of Sitka and we had an amazing time. We had a party of 12 so we had our own van and got to see all cool parts of Sitka. I enjoyed seeing the bears and the Eagles. Our driver Christian was awesome! What I loved most is that this tour was offered for twice as much through the cruise line. They scare you with saying their tours will wait for you. What you will find out is the companies they use are the companies you can book yourself. I highly recommend this tour in Sitka.

Out tour guide “Katie” was exceptional.. She is a native of Sitka, she was so full of knowledge. My husband and I believe she made the experience so enjoyable. 10/10

My son and I both loved this tour. It provides a quick hit / highlights of each stop - all of which were very good. We particularly loved the bears and bald eagles! Although we could have spent a bit more time at each stop, our tour guide Ritch was fabulous. He helped us maximize our time at each location and knew more than many of the employees about the Raptor Center history and animals. At the Totem Park he introduced us to the master carver who was in the workshop and he was connected and had great relationships with the park rangers, senior staff at each stop, etc. At his request, the park ranger brought out a sea otter pelt for us to feel. Driving between stops he regaled us with interesting local history and stories. Another wonderful feature of this tour was the small group size (6-8). Five stars!!

This was a great little tour. I think our tour guide, Christian, did a fantastic job! Wish we could have spent more time at each spot

This was a truly enjoyable experience! We loved being able to get so close to the bears and learn
more about them. It was both exciting and
educational, and we left with a greater appreciation for these amazing animals.

This was a wonderful excursion with very knowledgeable staff. They were able to provide extra nuggets of info along the way and were very friendly and kind. Don't miss out on this experience...or this staff!

Small group with personal guide who has flexibility. Visits 3 important and interesting sites, though a bit briefly. At end of tour, option to stay at National Park site and do an easy and picturesque walk 16 minutes to center of Sitka. Tours start in Central location with cruise tenders or shuttles connecting. Fortress of the Bears is unique and fun too.

Our tour guide Jim matched our vibe perfectly. Best excursion. Had a group of 11 and had the tour to ourself rather than a large group.
Dena_C, Jun 2026
Perfect amount of walking. Took the free mobility shuttle to the tour meeting spot. Then rode in a large passenger van to each stop. Only 8 in our group! Darcie was the best driver and full of information. Highly recommend.

Great guide, Mike. Saw many interesting and beautiful sites, nice pace. I really liked th Sitka National Historic Site. The Totem poles were beautiful!
Kari_S, Jun 2026
Mike was informative, sensitive to his group needs, went out of his way to support us, and very knowledgeable regarding the tour, local historical and current Sitka. Small van group of six was perfect. The three sites we visited were interesting as well as informative.

This was a great tour filled with interesting and beautiful photo stops. The guide was personable and had information about each place we visited. We are a family of four, and even my teenagers enjoyed the day.
linda_g, Jun 2026
The tour guide was knowledgeable about the areas we visited plus more. She enhanced the tour with other relevant information.
Jillian_C, Jun 2026
If you have kids ask for Jim. He ensured they got certified as a junior ranger, answered every question they had and was truly pure entertainment. He was a one of a kind tour guide. Our experience was nothing short of amazing!

Excellent highlights of Sitka tour. Great for all ages and our family with 6 and 7 year old boys found it perfect. We were driven around to the key sites and avoided the downtown port crowds. We’d do the same tour again!

This was a wonderful more laidback experience, the bears were fun to watch & enjoyed the birds. The snow owl is gorgeous. The toatum poles was a beautiful easy little hike. The driver was excellent & grew up in the area so had personal knowledge.

The tour was very organized and overall great. The raptor exhibits were good and the totem pole area was good. I wish we had more time in the totem park because the scenery was beautiful and great trails. The bear exhibit was awesome. They fed the bears while we were there and had a lot of information about what they do at the conservatory. It was very interesting.

Such a wonderful tour. Great to include all 3 locations in the same tour. We had a wonderful guide who was very informative and allowed free time in each location to fully appreciate the venues.

This was a great experience and our guide, James, I believe, was very knowledgeable and kind. I’d recommend this to friends.

We easily found Baranof Tour coordinator in front of Centennial Hall and immediately met Mike, our guide/driver who gave us helpful shopping tips even before our departure. We were a group of ten, and Mike guided us with info and humor with excellent timing, especially for a cruise tour. The bear rescue center was full of great photo ops and great info about their work; same for the Alaska Raptor center that allowed us to see the animals up close. Both places are doing great work. The Totem park was a delightful chance to get outside and see impressive poles. All in all this 2.5 hour tour hit impressive sights in a time efficient way with great educational commentary by Mike. While he might not be able to every time, Mike had the flexibility to drop us at the cruise terminal, saving us a cold wait of st least 20 mins for the cruise shuttle—we were very grateful for that.

If you book through Viator like we did - there was no sign indicating a Viator meeting place. When we finally found oiur guide they said we should have known the Trip Advisor logo as our indicator. There are so many tours all gathered in the same place - it was hard to find your meeting spot. I tried calling and the message said they were busy booking tours for 2025 - might be time to update the voicemail message.
Once on our way the stops were quick and somewhat informative.
If you’re looking for a quick tour without much educational information this the the one.

Great trip. Our guide Michelle was fantastic. To see the bears was worth it and to see the eagles close up pushed the trip over the top
Tina_S, May 2026
Great to see nature in a natural environment. The captors and the bears were awesome to see. And now for the rest of thr 100 characters.
Sheila_M, May 2026
Smaller van holding 13 people. Comfortable great driver. Knowledge and entertainment. Jim was our driver
Tracy_L, May 2026
Excellent tour- not too short, not too long and Christian is an amazing guide! He even took us to some great photo shops that weren't on the itinerary and taught us some amazing photo tricks with our phones! Super knowledgeable about the area and the history, too! 5 stars!!
Shawna_D, May 2026
It was easy to connect with tour, small group, engaging guide. My only complaint was 2.5 hours wasn’t long enough to full enjoy the totem park, it felt rushed.
Stuart_F, May 2026
Great tour to see the bears, raptors and totems of Sitka with just enough time at stop. Driver was very personable.
Robye_L, May 2026
I was fortunate to get to experience Sitka on a stunningly sunny day and definitely picked the perfect tour: “Simply Amazing Sitka Tour: Fortress of the Bear, Alaska Raptor, & Totems”, provided by Baranof Tours.
The Raptor Sanctuary was informative and so amazing to be so close to these amazing creatures! Sadly, sorta, the day before our arrival 14 Ball’s Eagles were able to be released!
Then came the Fortress of the Bear, a reuse of an old Sitka mill into a sanctuary for bear cub who would otherwise be euthanized due to state law. These gorgeous animals are a sight to be seen!
We concluded our tour at the Totem Park and some regional indigenous people’s history.
This is a worthwhile day!
Our Guide, a former Traveling Nurse, was a perfect host with a great wit for this position!
robyn_a, May 2026
It gave us a great overview of Sitka. The wildlife workers were able to give excellent information on the raptors, the bears, how they treat and release the injured.
Our guide Christian from Baranof Tours was excellent, explanations were easy to follow.

Mike is wonderful tour guide. Fabulous sites, had no idea. Learned so much. Love the energy and information. Thank you!!
