The best of Sitka tour was a great way to see the sights in a short amount of time. Ryan was the best tour guide ever! He was very knowledgeable about the areas and made us all feel very welcomed. I would definitely recommend this if you’re thinking about exploring the cute town of Sitka!

We had a great experience on this tour. The communication was very good. I like going in small groups. We had plenty of time to visit each experience. I highly recommend this tour if you want to get the most out of Sitka

Riley was an awesome guide. Being from the area he knew a lot of the history and it was an absolute pleasure to travel around with him and would definitely do it again. I would highly recommend this to tour to anyone at anytime to learn about the bears and the raptor center. Thanks for a great time.

Worth the money. Good experience. Our guide Ryan was very informative, engaging and knowledgeable about the area and local history.

Meeting at cruise terminal went smoothly and it was a small group of 13.
Raptor Centre was great. Loved seeing the eagles being rehabilitated before being released into the wild. Resident raptors were easy to see and looked well cared for.
The bears at fortress of the bears were awesome. Loved seeing them playing and inquisitive.
Totem park was good but you need to do visitor centre first to get information sheets as there was very little information as bout the totems on the loop.
Would have liked more time at the bears but would definitely recommend,
Ryan our driver/guide was excellent

We enjoyed this tour although the totem pole park visit could have been longer. Ryan (guide) was informative and had a great personality for this job. I loved the pick up at the port, but it would have been nice to have the option to be returned to the port instead of just to the shuttle station. The totem pole park had neat trails to walk on and we also saw A LOT of salmon at the bridge/water area. We ran out of time and didn’t get to see the visitor area.

Ryan, the driver, was knowledgeable and amusing, just enough time at each location to be interesting but not overwhelming.

I wish I remembered our guides name! He was fantastic! Told many great stories, related to my kids, was helpful ( there was a member of our group in a wheelchair, so they needed more assistance getting on and off).
The fortress of the bears was a highlight, and I wished we had more time at the National park with Totems, but it was still great!

Small group tour with a very entertaining guide. All the stops were interesting and well described. Both the Raptor Center and the Fortress of the Bear were worth the trip.
Dana_L, Sep 2025
Our tour guide was awesome, full of great information about the area and very personable. However, the enclosures that the bears were in were less than desirable in my opinion for these larger than life full size bears. They must be bored out of their mind in these enclosures, with little stimulation and no amenities that would be relatable to anything they would be exposed to in the wild as a wild bear. Looking into their faces as they stared up at us was very telling, and pretty sad experience. If you want to see bears in a more natural habitat go to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Capt Gary tours crushed it! Was easy to connect with them off the cruise ship and they even contacted me the day prior with directions!

Riley was such an AMAZING guide and takes the BEST pictures! He answered so many questions about life in Sitka and was hilarious. I felt bad because I had to pry my husband from him because he was asking so many questions lol. Absolutely loved the Fortress of the Bear was so fun to watch the bears personalities. At the Totem pole National Park walk the trail we spotted a bald eagle in the tree and you can capture an awesome view of the salmon jumping/swimming upstream.

Loved this tour! Great for those of us who had not been to Sitka before. Fortress of the Bears, The Raptor Center, and the Totem Park were great. The walk in the park was beautiful. Wish we had more time in Sitka as we would have also have liked to do a whale cruise. Ryan, our guide, was wonderful. He was full of knowledge and could answer any of our questions. Gave us local history and was very friendly and polite. Highly recomment him!

Awesome experience with a local guide. A walk through a beautiful forest that seems to surrounded by water and has a pristine river full of salmon. The park is actually full of totems, which are fascinating and beautiful. Having a local guide was perfect as he pointed out various plants or totems and had the history of the area to share. The raptor center is the star of this show. Being on a cruise, you may not get to see many eagles, but at the Raptor Center, you get to see some magnificent eagles, hawks, owls and falcons. Because the center is a rehabilitation facility, the only houses birds full time if they are unable to be released back into the wild. Amazing picture opportunity, and anything purchased supports the facility. The final stop at the Fortress of the Bear was the best way to get close to these huge and hungry beasts. The bears there were orphaned as cubs, and instead of allowing them to be killed in the wild or euthanized by officials, the fortress was created to take these orphans in and raise them. They have a large area to roam, and they are well cared for. Another great photo opportunity, and all purchases support the center and help provide care and TONS of food for these cuties. FYI- they are NOT cubs anymore, so don’t expect cute, cuddly, fuzzy cub babies. Overall, it was a great day and we had plenty of time to walk, talk, and get some amazing photos.

Very good tour picked up right at dock. Riley our tour guide was outstanding !!!. Learned a lot from him
BonitaMarie_G, Sep 2025
Be sure you know the name of who you tour is organized by. We almost miss this tour because we were looking for best of Sitka or Viator not CPT Gary’s. That information should be made clear. It was a great tour. Much enjoyed.
Janice_M, Sep 2025
Very informative and lots of fun. Our driver was amazing! Very accommodating! The bears were awesome and what a great place for them. The raptor rehabilitation center was so nice to visit. It is wonderful to have a place that will rehabilitation these glorious birds so they can be returned to the wild.

Our guide Reilly was fantastic the overall experience was incredible. The natural views of the Alaskan coastline were scenic and beautiful. The Santuary of the Bears was the highlight of our trip along with the Raptor Center.
Bryan_W, Aug 2025
We had a really nice time, some beautiful things to see and the weather was absolutely perfect. The bears were out and being fed which was really cool to see and the raptor center was awesome as well. Great experience, thanks!

We had Anna as our guide and she is fantastic. Also Kuali was helpful and kept in touch with us regarding changes. We were able to leave a bit early in order to get ahead of the crowds. The entire tour was interesting and Anna kept us entertained and well informed about the Sitka area . The staff is great. I only wish we had more time at each facility. If it could last a bit longer it would be a better experience.

Mike was excellent! Knew where to stop for the best pics. Knew Skagway's history very well and added his own personal flavor. Enjoyed our time in Skagway because of Mike. Needs to work on his joke delivery! Thanks Mike, great excursion.

Anna was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable since she grew up here. We didn't feel rushed, but there also wasn't too much time at the stops. Very good tour!
