We provide round trip transportation at the location of your choice. Start times are flexible, as we work around your arrival time in Sitka and your desired hike time! Once you book, we can arrange pickup time. Meeting location at cruise terminal: once off the ship, head up the main ramp towards the bus terminal. When you reach the set of stairs, look right for the green flags that say 'E Bikes'. We will meet you in front of those flags.

Our hike was incredible, largely in part to our guide, Laura!! Laura was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, patient and wonderful! The hike was beautiful, we even ate fresh berries along the way, can't get much better than that. She tailored the hike to our skill level which was perfect! The scenery was stunning. I would absolutely recommend!!!

Laura was an incredible hiking guide! She was extremely knowledgeable about the local landscape, wildlife, and history, which made the hike even more enjoyable. The 4-mile trail was absolutely beautiful. She set a comfortable pace, shared so many interesting facts along the way, and made the entire experience fun and memorable. I highly recommend booking a hike with Laura if you’re looking for an authentic and scenic adventure!

The guided hike on Beaver Lake exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Allister was very knowledgeable, personable, and ensured our safety. The hike itself was very scenic and with incredible views of the surrounded mountains.
The tour of the local brewery was also exceptional. The beers and food were very good and the tour provided amazing insight on how they produce when living on a small island.
Overall recommend to anyone looking for an amazing hike while also being able to move at your own pace.

Laura was an excellent guide. She was knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. She worked around a change in our arrival and was very prepared. She gave us not only knowledge of the hike but life in Sitka itself. Even turned us on to a great local pizza place. We have a great trip!

We really enjoyed our guided hike in Sitka. The scenery was beautiful, and having Laura as our naturalist made the experience even better. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and shared interesting information about the area without making it feel like a lecture.
We learned a lot about the local environment and appreciated her enthusiasm and ability to answer questions. Overall, it was a great way to experience Sitka and we’d definitely recommended it!

This a such a mesmerizing experience. As a nature lover I wanted to stop like every 10 minutes to take pictures and admire the beauty. Have been hiking for over 5 years and this one has definitely become top 5. The change of biomes within miles is so amazing. Colton our amazing tour guide made the experience very engaging. Showing us the hidden gems, and teaching us about the nature like plants. Go in with a curious mind.

Great experience. There was a small hiccup with the meeting time, but it all worked out. We met with Lilli for our guided hike, and I had an amazing time. Beautiful area with top notch scenery, even with the rain! Definitely would recommend this excursion but also ensure you're relatively fit because most all of the area is going to have you doing some climbing/hiking UP! ;)

LAURA IS THE BEST from the time of booking Laura communicated in a timely and efficient manner. Our hike was fantastic in spite of less than perfect weather. She had a back up plan ( a visit to the local Fortress of the Bear- which was spectacular ) while we waited out some serious rain. Laura is the perfect guide sharing local history/knowledge , ensuring our safety and comfort at all times - in addition to being friendly and fun. A first class experience for our whole family(parents and adult kids).

Chase was a knowledgeable and incredibly kind presence. Our hike around Beaver Lake (and in the shadow of Bear Mountain) was perfectly calibrated for intermediate-level hikers—some climbing, enough to get us working for the views, but not too much. Gorgeous Old Growth forest makes you appreciate what’s most precious in this world—a landscape to treasure, enjoy, protect.

It was truly an amazing experience hiking into the forest of Bear Mountain, alongside the waterfall and creeks, and around the lake. I’m so glad this was the excursion I chose at Sitka for our cruise trip. It couldn’t have been better. The sceneries are just awe-inspiring. Colton was a great guide, very gentle and thoughtful and knowledgeable, also great with kids. We learned so much about native plants, and were eating wild berries along the way. I had my 14 and 12 year-old boys with me. We all loved this hike so much. I would highly recommend this experience!

Emily our tour guide was wonderful, we did the Beaver Lake hike and it was beautiful and quiet. Felt like we were all alone out there in the wilderness. First few minutes is steep but then its a nice stroll!

Thank you to Laura at Alpenglow Adventures for setting us up on an amazing hike with Katie in Sitka. Katie with Alpenglow had water and snacks available along with a nice map to show us the hike we would be doing. We were very happy with the on-time easy pickup and drop-off, along with the wealth of local knowledge of Sitka and the land that Katie was able to tell us about. The hike was a must see and do in Sitka with breathtaking views and lots of wildlife for nature lovers. This was an excellent excursion and we were happy to book outside the cruise tours with a local Sitka business that employs and supports people that live in Sitka. Would book with Alpenglow again!

Just did a private guided hike with Chase from Alpenglow Adventures out of Sitka. Booked through Viator. Chase was super knowledgable about Sitka flora and fauna, which kept us entertained on our uphill trek. He picked us up right from the port and dropped us back off in town for some shopping (at our request, he would have also dropped us back at the port). If you’re into ornithology Chase is your guy! Definitely would recommend a hike with this company if that is your style. All experience levels welcome.

Me & my wife’s first time in Alaska! Our tour guide Gracie was very friendly and knowledgable about the landscape and trail! We have an amazing experience with breath taking views. We hiked a little over seven miles up and down mountain type landscape. Would highly recommend to able bodied people!

We went on the Herring Cove hike with Chase and it was great. He told us about life on the island and was very knowledgeable about native plants and wildlife. This was a way better way to learn about the area than doing a ship excursion.
